I'm Unhappy I Put As Much Money As I Did In This Game

It looks like you just need a long ass break. Try and come back with act 4 rolls out, your being way too burnt out along with expectations that weren't fulfilled.

;-)

@OP: I feel similar, but I guess it will never change. Why an Arpg (A!) needs such massive trading is beyond me.

It doesn't look too promising. One of the best things this game has going for it is the Auction House made by a third party. This is cool because it's the best way to get back to playing the game, sad that this is pretty much mandatory.

Well, I particularly am enjoying the new content, what I enjoy the most is the leveling... ...whenever a league ends and all the items are dumped to the parent leagues, that's actually the worst part for me, I wish I could have a button to erase a tab, with remove-only items..

Emptying them and merging the items is inventory hell...

I have not spent as much as you on the game, so my return of enjoyment is big.

But taste is a personal thing, I do enjoy the tree changes and new leagues because you can imagine new stuff, and draw new builds.

I particularly don't like to just copy+paste builds, I tend to do my own thing, after lot's of hours now I'm better at it.

In this league, different from last time, I'll try to have one char in each league, and focus on them. I party play with friends and sometimes in public parties, but mostly solo it.

The thing I learned, playing as much as I have, is that all your lack of item problems can be overcome with the passive tree, I always had problems in HC with the resists, so I found the spots in the tree with resist nodes and got them, solving my problem, since we can always respec those points later, I find that it is valid. You sacrifice your overall build around the resists so that if later you get better items, you can switch tree points with good items, and I do think that might be a way GGG designed the nodes.

I remember when there where no 4 month leagues and I was playing HC exclusively, and I found a great unique item, and I started a new char, just to use that item.

Well, I'm crowding your thread with a lot of what I like. Having said that, I can agree it gets boring after a while, and the challenges system could be better worked to have a much better motivation in having fun in the game.

Thanks for your thread and thoughts, I hope GGG can see what we write, just to think about it at least.

Thank you for your reply, I'm glad to see a person enjoying the game! I actually whole heartily agree with your first paragraph, it definitely seems as though GGG has a focus on the leveling and I do find it fun overall. For me, running on hardcore leagues was fun because they had a fresh economy and getting to the end game was fun, it just wasn't when you were there, but hardcore character typically don't last too long.

I also do enjoy that uniques can be made into builds, or make builds, it's a fun aspect, but not when they don't drop, ever, at least not the cool ones. I also enjoy the new trees, people do complain, but you get a free refund, and it gives you a chance to make a completely different character if you so choose.

Ever since release, with the Act3x content, increasingly difficult, with monsters that eat up characters and maps that have one shot bosses, it loses a lot of what the game had before. Has it ever been balanced? No, and it never will be completely, but there are things that are going the completely opposite direction of good or fun design.

I would love to PLAY the game, but when I can progress because I don't have the build, links, currency to do so, and the best optimal option is to farm Piety or Merveil, it creates an un-fun experience for me.

Care to clarify?

Based on your post history and my expert communication skills, I am going to give it about a 70% probability you were being snarky/sarcastic here.. unless of course you say otherwise, then I apologize.

I think he's referring to the fact that there are many complaints on the feedback forum and GGG very rarely replies to threads, giving the impression they don't care. At least that's how I read it.

Let's try to keep the negativity down guys, it doesn't help anyone's day.

Definitely true! And I'm taking one, I see it as a good reason to dive into other games when I wasn't having fun with the game. I've been on break since about a month into the Nemesis leagues, and I wanted to try this one to see what was all new, while following up on the news. Unfortunately, Searing Bond cheesing its way up the ladder and a boss that's probably impossible by yourself are huge turn offs alongside more one shotting enemies. I just hope the issues get addressed and resolved, I would really like to enjoy this game again.

Happy to support a game that I was continually enjoying throughout closed beta. The information of them making new content every 2 weeks and an expansion every 4 months got me excited. Unfortunately the content was not what I expected.

Also thanks for stopping by, you seem to answer lots of feedback questions and account dilemma's. Earning that Rule of Wraeclast title haha.

I think GGG did a great job with ambush league personally. It addressed a lot of the loot issues as well as the map issues when they added the lockboxes and their modifiers. People are complaining because of too many map drops and the loot is always a welcome addition.

Invasion on the other hand has lots of problems and I feel the bosses are way overtuned. I wish ambush had been the hardcore league and invasion the standard variant. But then people would probably be QQing about getting surrounded and instagibbed by magic mobs when they open the box, so idk.
my evasion is so high i only insta rip sometimes

Bug Fixes:
People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. Also, we went ahead and made cyclone great for CoC casters while we were at it.

it's better to be surrounded by mobs after opening a chest that says "you're going to be surrounded by mobs", than just get nuked by a fire nova out of nowhere, or an off-screen rain of arrows you had no idea was coming.

so yes, I completely support Ambush being the HC league, and Invasion being the SC one instead.
or preferably not existing at all.

You have the exact same issues that myself and many other have. They have all been posted many times and by the direction GGG goes every patch, you can see they just dont give a Damn. They want crap drops to force trade, they want 1 shot mechanics.

Like you I have been here on and off since CB also I at that time I thought the game would only get better. It has gotten worse. GGG is aware of all the issues you have brought up, they just dont care and seem to be making a game to cater to the 1%. I find that strange because its a sure way to lose alot of players, and a FTP game like this needs all the players it can get, unless they just dont care to make any money.

I would agree that in many of the core ways, the game has gotten worse instead of better.

Balance in particular has only gotten worse. You would think that would not be possible considering the state the game was originally in...

Good balance to me is shown by strong build diversity which is exactly what this game has always lacked, but most of all these days. Sometimes GGG forces a new build down your throat with some random overpowered unique item or skill gem, but that's about it.

It's the exact opposite of the sandbox I first imagined when I was first learning about this game. A giant ARPG sandbox where nearly any build was capable of being strong!

It's dressed up that way with the giant passive tree and all the gem combinations but it just doesn't work out. GGG continuously iterates the skill tree to eliminate possibilities rather than create new ones.

They probably thinks that this "improves" balance because it makes the build landscape "easier for them to understand." (of course it's easier to understand when the majority of players are pigeonholed into the same builds)

Pathetic.

(see my story in the below post to be honest)

Exactly, its like feel free to make awesome builds, but if you find one that works really well we will just nerf it, so whats the point? Its a loot game where loot dosent fucking drop, only the trade whores can afford to craft, make a build that works to well and people complain NERFED its like really what is the point of the game here?
