deleted thread - a clarification

That was, until this event, how it was done. Excessively abusive threads were deleted, but we're talking about much worse than jk's innocuous rant.

Support could have saved themselves a lot of hassle by sticking to their own guidelines and moderating the thread. Instead they chose the absolute wrong thread to show their claws.

It's beating a deadhorse at this point. Support has responded and they can't backpedal on such decisions. I am a moderator on a few other websites so I can sympathize with them.

I don't think they're going to delete similiar topics in the future.

By my interpretation of one of the moderator posts in one of the related threads, they did accept some responsibility and accountability. You may not have seen it, or your interpretation may have been different.

Rhetorically, if the choices are between moderators having enough freedom to occasionally make a mistake, while for the most part getting it right and "letting us 'play the game'", or an iron-fisted dictatorship of aggressive moderation, then I will always opt for the former.

With all due respect (yes, i think you deserve that line), but for me this feels like this:

Support does a good enough / acceptable / good job 95% of the time, and people get pissed because this one time. They act (kinda) wrong one time, and people ignore all the other times they did a good job, stating things like "Support in Forum: C-/D/F", which is absurd.

I'm with you that after all it's the duty of the "superior power" to take the first step and set things straight, but otoh they weren't the ones verbaly shitting all over the place, so i can't really blame them for this one time where they decided to throw the carpet away instead of cleaning up the mess, which arguably takes a lot more time. Metaphoricly speaking.

Personally, i've been in forums that were moderated a lot more harshly, and those were the best forums _always_. One of them (civfanatics.com) most likely is even bigger than this one right here. Just like it was the other way round: the less laws you have, the less quality you'll have in the posts.

Yes, regarding forums i'm a huge fan of a close-to zero tolerance. It just works best in an enviroment where everyone thinks he/she's safe from everything like the internet.

I like it how everyone wants to pretend they are civil and shit/should be treated like a adult because they'll treat GGG like an adult back after they are done posting a shit storm and are amazing surprised at the varied responses GGG has ranging from thread deletion, to moving your topic.

Actually it's kinda funny because they prob would be deleted off the forum if people spam posted them 24/7 in general but we all know nobody actually does that.

Also it would belong in the feed back forum so it wouldn't be deleted ;v

A gaming company deletes "stupid and crap" thread off the forums, we all *need* to know why it was deleted and ask for insight if they are going to delete more stupid and crap threads off the forum because it isn't specifically stated in the rules.

They deleted one stupid post. It's their prerogative.
