deleted thread - a clarification

Hi,

reading what support had to say about deleting my thread, and player responses, I feel I need to clarify I few things:

I played this game a lot, and for quite a lengthy period of time.
I posted on the forums even more, and a good portion of those posts were constructive criticism, with lengthy descriptions, and rather concrete suggestions for improvement.
and yes, some of my posts were praising GGG, when that praise was due.
most of the above was ignored. almost no exceptions. I've seen threads - mine and not - being buried in god-forsaken forums, never to be heard from again. I've played long enough, to notice hardly anything at all from literally megabytes of text, was taken by the team and run-with.
and not necessarily because GGG disagreed with it on a professional level. yes I just said it.

in the specific case of the deleted thread, it was a rather toxic way of providing feedback.
yes, toxic. yes, sarcastic. yes, not detailed but rather just throwing statements into the air - because I absolutely knew what will happen to the thread once I posted it, so there was really no point in repeating myself in detail for the n-th time.
but what actually happened did surprise me. instead of finding my thread dumped into something like "off topic" or "suggestions", I found it vaporized.
and usually when I get posts moderated, the moderator quickly sends me a PM informing me of that. some of them are even kind enough to explain why.
no such thing in this case.

I did not call GGG bad developers. I called their decisions questionable, and their priorities bad.
there is a difference here. an important one.
being a developer myself, I respect any and all people who code because I know how gruelling that can be.
but when some serious task gets postponed indefinitely - and consistently, for over a year - and replaced by yet another set of minor tricks of "painting the car" instead of repairing a faulty engine - I get annoyed. it's not a "bad developer" thing but rather horrible decision-making and priority-setting.
and when it's so consistently bad, one has to wonder.

as for "trolling" - yes, that post had a degree of that as well.
but I still believe I do my best, to avoid insulting people or bullying them online.
yes, even when I get bullied and feel like responding in tone.
why? because I'm an adult.
those who responded to that thread and it's deletion by calling me a "snotty teenager" (and all derivatives) - I'm probably not much younger than your father.
keep that in mind.

I still don't like you.

I thought your thread was shit.

But until I see equality of treatment and more thread deletion for "hateful" posting, I will fight for your right to speak your mind.

As far as I am concerned, if your thread was deleted due to "hateful" content, someone at Support VERY liberally interpreted Chris' words. I remember the posts that prompted him to use that word, and your post was nothing like those toxic dumps.

All you did was have a whinge. Deleting that was wrong.

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it".

thanks for that Charan. I respect that.

Oh well. GGG has made their policy pretty clear so we will all just have to deal with it and follow it as best we can. If the mods are really trying to be perfectly consistent then Charan's post above will probably be edited or removed. Who knows though its so subjective sometimes.

Edit: and other posters in this thread as well.

John, I know we've only talked a handful of times but at this point I'm fed up with these people. All of them, developers and players alike.

I made a few friends, I made some people smile, but in the end, it's not worth dealing with this inconsiderate,[removed by support] gaggle padding the whitespace between the few acceptable people I deal with.

I've uninstalled the game, unsubbed from the reddit, and deleted these bookmarks, content to move on to a less mentally corrosive environment.

I beseech you do the same, if only for your own sake. This game was worth it once upon a time. Not anymore.

TLDR. There's one thread already discussing moderation, with mod response, but you still make another. Why not post in that one? I'd delete this if I were a mod.

There are clearly inconsistencies in moderation and I think that is the most frustrating apsect of this episode.

Quoting Michael_GGG from the other post: "Continuing in the spirit of the day for discussing moderator decisions: I did see that post, my interpretation of Ozoug's opinion is that it's not worth a persons time/space/life reading such threads; not that the the original posters themselves are a 'waste of life'.

If both parties conduct themselves in an honestly objective manner then there is very little room for such things as an antagonizing opinion. Mostly it's the way we communicate these opinions that potentially give rise to antagonization (aggressive, condescending etc) and this is what we moderate on."

Ozoug's post ("Obvious trolls. Their threads should be deleted with out warning, and without explanation. Waste of time, waste of space, waste of life.") is cleary aggressive and condescending, yet stands as posted with no moderation.

Consistency breeds credibilty (and vice versa).

There is already two topics on this. Post in those topics instead of clogging the forums just so your post can get more attention.

Edit: Alright the mods decided to make this the new discussion topic. I find that an odd choice but well played.
