deleted thread - a clarification
" If you are going them a hard ass time just deleting the one in discussion in this thread your kinda being counter productive in trying to get them to delete all of the other shit off the forums if people are just going to blame GGG for abuse of power and shit. We got some watchmen on here keeping a close eye. Last edited by RagnarokChu#4426 on Feb 20, 2014, 4:21:37 PM

" Seems to me you are staring at the tree so hard that you're missing the forest. That thread, by itself, was not the end of the world - but it was not the only one. JK has been spewing such threads and getting on everyone's nerves for some time now. Quantitative change becomes qualitative. You have to be realistic about these things. " Hey do you have access to GGG? Do you regularly talk to Christ or some other GGG dev? Do you have access to their offices and their SVN? Can you see what they have on their computers? No? Then how do you know what they are or aren't working on? Just because there isn't some quick and easy fix available for the problem at hand doesn't mean they aren't working on it. It would just be unimaginably stupid for them to release stuff that might not even compile, because, I don't know about you but I like my games to be able to run. Secondly. Let. It. Go. " You think you can see. I, on the other hand, think you are blowing things way out of proportion. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree and leave it at that. You have to be realistic about these things.

Blows me away that people still have hope for moderation on these forums.
Its very simply; moderation on PoE forums is fucking awful, has been for months. Dont expect a change - expecting changes is hateful. "just for try, for see and for know"

This topic brought me to the good old days when I was a high school senior and we created an online forum of our school. It was very popular, everyone was reading it.
Our sense of humor was a little over the top, I guess. Once, we selected the three most aggressive and active forum trolls and made them global moderators for a day. The most benign and innocent thing they did was renaming an Asian girl's profile to "Asian bitch". The rest was way worse XD Well, I guess my standards of what is a big deal and what isn't aren't exactly universal :D You have to be realistic about these things. Charan:
I thank you for your oppinion although i cannot quite share it. It's nice to talk someone reasonable who doesn't share your oppinion. Often that's a lot more fruitful than reassuring yourself by just talking to people who share your oppinion and ignore everyone else. So, i do understand your approach. It's a very liberal approach, and even though i do not support it i do support the underlying intention IN GENERAL. Constistency is important, and so it is to make changes clear and understandable. BUT: just like a kid will sooner or later get punished hard when repeatingly doing bad things (and yes, the kid will know why), it's very consistent to slap a user in the face by simply deleting his post. He/She'll know why, trust me, and there's no inconsistency there. People will never learn if you analyse every of their farts. So let's not make a mountain out of a dust speck. Liberal thinking has brought us far, but we're at a point where liberalism may just turn against just what "being liberal" stands for: freedom to do what you want as long as you don't take away the freedom of someone else. Some people are claiming rights for themselves, yet do not grant any rights to the people they're claming their rights from. So, i'd say all GGG'd have to do is to state that this post was BS and deserved to be deleted, and that's what they did. By doing something that may look inconsistent at first glance, they actually did the first constistent thing when dealing with people who refuse to learn: make them actually feel that they did something wrong. Some people just do not learn when you tell them what an awful little boy they've been. |

" What??? What was he supposed to be learning? While some of his posts in the past have been moved, none have been deleted. Hell, who hasn't had a post that the mods moved?? This is a precedent, and a bad one IMO. "The Eye of Ra appears against you,

" I know that i'm rather alone with my oppinion that you're supposed to learn everywhere and everytime, including forums. What he should have learned is that his posts are nonsense and not welcomed, and i think he learned that, don't you think? I do understand that you don't agree with my position (not many people do, actually), but i do believe that being too nice isn't helping anyone. You have to be harsh sometimes and mark the line people should not cross unless they want to feel the consequenses. @Charan Although you might not be reading that, i'd still once again like to thank you for your effort. It must be hard to see part of your work go to waste like that, but i'd assume you were a mod back when the game was rather small (= not realeased) and it made actually sense to handle things like you did. In a forum with a lot more users, you've to kick the trolls in the butt on occassion, otherwise they'll win. Have seen several forums go to waste like that many times, and it sickens me tbh. Therefore, i fully appreciate the hard way GGG took by simply deleting the post and i'd really like them to do that more often. Unfortunately, most people can't handle great freedom.
