I thought of one more that's been bugging me lately.
1. With the way some monsters behave when burning, why is it that fire spell users have a built in downside on their curse? Flammability's ignite bonus is counterproductive against these monsters for both incinerate and flame totem builds in my experience. Personally I think the monster mechanic is redundant and only causes frustration. The good majority of them only made levels 40 to 60 and most deaths were recorded in Cruel. lol lol@famous,the event went by with little more than a whimper. It was also not strictly self found and I quote from the rules:- You are able to multibox characters for the sole purpose of obtaining gems from other class' quest rewards. Multiboxed characters cannot participate in combat. Item trades are not allowed between accounts. This is to allow spec diversity. Surely the game offers spec diversity and access to skills for a solo player without the need to multibox ? If remember correctly Krips parting words to the challenge were along the lines of I wouldn't do this again,mostly pertaining to the state of melee at the time however,but also relating to it's unrewarding nature. It's also worthy to note that a good portion of the participants chose Ground Slam (ranged) as their bread and butter skill,some of us chose Leap Slam but suffered slightly from technical problems of which I won't go into. That particular challenge was also completed in outdated content,POE has seen some major editions/changes and extra gear checks since that challenge. Some SMASH players were seen to be partying and trading in chat channel,nulling their input. It's perfectly viable/possible to bang on trivial content for ten plus levels if you have the time and patience as some had done,but fun and challenging perhaps not. The challenge also drew smaller than desired interest in participation regardless of interest in the actual challenge.Further similar challenges lacking Krips name generated even less interest and for good reason,it was not fun. While there was some interest in following the progress of the challenges,again there was little interest in actually partaking in them. No doubt some *get lucky* with drops,but on average most don't,taking out the bottom end and top end performers and looking at the average,which I believe is the sensible thing to do shows a bigger picture than *if he can do it so can you attitude* when a lot of RNG was involved in the whole process. I would suggest you give solo self found/gambled from an empty stash tab in hardcore or nemesis a try yourself,if you havn't already,or even search and read how similar more up to date challenges played out. 1. No problem there. We knew in CB that to get 1000+ uniques in game will take a few years. 2. Ok, so notes is nice. But PoE accessories before core game features? Down under thinking? 3. Something uber should be rewarded for reaching level 100. Maybe a pardon for crimes committed and leaving Wraeclast as a free citizen? Something more practical like 100 fusings + 100 jewellers. 4. Chris is the master troll. 5. Is there a wiki for learning the chaos and other stacked damage calculations? 6. Starve the players for end game items to punish you for grind time played. Typical dev attitude of we are the masters, you are the slave. You are not worthy to receive anything, not even a carrot. Late game item drops can't improve. GGG doesn't want to gain a larger playerbase. PoE must remain a niche arpg to keep the peace with the hardcore players (and the devs). 7. Wider doorways for new maps would be nice. 8. Shhh..don't mention item drop rates. Every time you do they nerf it more. DOH! Can't expand permanent leagues and get more players. That would be too radical and piss off the core hardcore player base. GGG must not give players more play style choices (heaven forbid that!). Besides, the servers are stressed enough already. 9. RNG forever baby! We want to feel like it's a crap shoot...NOT!!! No serious PoE player should ever expect better crafting methods (are you crazy?). :( 10. Everyone skips Kole once you have done 1 full clear in Lunaris Temple. So end game map uber tough bosses with no increase to loot quality they drop is same too. Don't ever expect that to change. Same for the large chests. Expecting GGG to give us better loot drops for tougher battles, that's crazy talk. 11. Yes, only a better (easier) way to trade will alleviate this problem. 12. I only play PoE at full screen 1920x1080 HD 16:9 aspect ratio so can't comment further. 13. Item progression is supposed to suck at high levels. It is the Karui way. 14. Good to wait until the 4 month leagues are over. Ruining a high level character in these leagues with nerfs is a very bad thing to do. Not enough time to rebuild the character. 15. Trigger gems are more difficult to balance properly and really clever players will find combos that lead to OP effects that must then be nerfed (such as CoD zombies). Again, this is the Karui way. 16. Auras are ok for now. There are bigger play balance problems to fix first. 17. Leaving legacy items in PoE is ok, even if their usefulness is now more limited. 18. Custom leagues should be of the harder the better. Let's kill off everyone real fast. :) 19. What? A dev actually unhappy with poor large chest drops? (Elisabeth, this is the big one! aka heart attack). If true then what is GGG waiting for. Patch 1.10 should buff these. 20. I suffer from Climacophobia: ![]() 21. First, the drop rate of the fishing rod has to increase. I can't fish without the fishing rod. 22. EXP loss on death is ok. It's a pain, but dieing needs a painful penalty. 23. PoE already is the best at build variety and freedom of choice. The passive tree is awesome for that. Not all builds will work at end game and that's the way it should be. We must learn and make choices in creating our builds and not have all builds be able to steamroll high level mobs and bosses. However, GGG must be careful and not go overboard in their zeal to increase PoE hard core play and thus cause millions of builds to be worthless and kill build diversification with the end game difficulty bar set too high. 24. Hardcore - thanks for the insight on your personal meaning of it. 25. If the world economy doesn't go to "hell in a handbasket", earth is hit by a civilization ending asteroid, or some idiots cause a nuclear holocaust, GGG should eek out a meager financial existence from PoE by catering to the niche hardcore to the max argp market. GGG should keep PoE narrow in focus to keep from casting a larger net over the arpg gaming world and make more money. Fame and fortune would just go to their heads and ruin them and we'd all be the worse for it. 26. Unless GGG is willing to expand the permanent leagues to include a more "casual" league (which they aren't inclined to do) they have no easy way to entice the casual argp player. A player who has limited time and wants a more instant gratification experience from an arpg will never be playing PoE. GGG is targeting PoE at the hardcore arpg player base only eschewing all other player types. 27. Now that question is just crazy. How dare you accuse GGG of making mistakes that you as a player think you can rectify. This isn't an open to mod argp like TL2. Never going to happen. 28. All the creatures in the Lunaris Temple blood pools used to be trolls. That's what happens to them. 29. Really, really skilled players can beat PoE with mediocre or crap loot. The rest of us are made to suffer. Hey, it's the price we pay for playing. Either get good fast or get out or be a PoE Klingon to enjoy pain. 30. RNG in PoE is here to stay. RNG is to PoE as the Kiwi bird is to New Zealand. RNG in PoE makes crafting an endangered activity but is protected by Wraeclast laws. Let's face it, crafting sucks but to add or change it is major surgery (think open heart) and the GGG HR is too limited to overhaul it. :( 31. Yes, the more backstory and history of the Wraeclast people/creatures the better the immersion experience while playing. 32. Good for GGG. But make it a requirement to have gotten a build to level 100. To be an effective employee of GGG you must know the game backwards and forwards. 33. Goodbye Max. Now back to the important PoE questions. 34. Dominus frame rate killing special effects will get fixed in the same time it will take GGG to fix desync. Sadly, this is a many, many, Pacific Ocean sized problem for GGG to cross. :( 35. I'd have to say GGG does a good job posting on both forums. Chris seams to prefer Reddit more though. Are there more fanboys on Reditt so the questions aren't as tough? My thanks to Rhys for staying up so late to answer 35 (by my count) questions. Good show.
