Why have you stopped playing?

What really bothers me the most about the game is the fact that they don't do anything about scammers. There is a guy running around scamming people systematically while he is building up a good reputation in the forums with playing mr.niceguy and buying supporter packs.

I haven't been scammed by this guy myself but I know victims and I saw randomly at least 3-4 threads about the same name in general forums over a period of several months (5-10 minutes later they were deleted). There must be 20-50 or even more abuse reports about this guy. For any skilled administrator it is obvious what to do but GGG guys rather keep shutting down people who spread the word about this guy. It seems like they are protecting him for some reason. Such bad admin work doesn't deserve me playing this game.

But the game in general is fine, gonna play it every here and then with my lvl 95 char but not in any way rushing to 100. Arpgs for me are making a char as strong as possible. This is why I don't understand league hoppers. Proceeding is difficult in the map system and it needs alternatives (also scarce). The challenge start at lvl85. While I don't like legacy items too much I don't see a big problem with them. Both my sword and chest are worth way more than legacy kaoms or soultaker. People who pay 50+ exa for new soultaker should think about why legacy soultaker was worth only 20-30 exa before release, it is not that great as people think it is and nothing to worry about it permanent leagues.

Things to adress:
- dealing with scammers, even if they have a supporters pack
- derandomize fusing items, make hard caps on the top and bottom end, I neither want some of them get it with 5 fusings and nor others not having it with 3k fusings
- create more endgame content (e.g. smth like uberbosses, sometimes playing acts 1-3 with monster levels 68-78 that is not attained with map drops but other scarce items)
- RMT at the high levels. You should either change your policy or more strictly enforce RMT restrictions at the high levels. Too many are doing it there.

I actually don't have any issues with the loot system in PoE. Most of the people whining about the loot system are people who think they are entitled to easy access to a Kaoms/Shavs/6L/etc, and that's just BS. Crafting is broken due to piss-poor orb drop rates but the loot system is actually very good IMO.

It is the map system that makes the game unrewarding to keep playing. And sorry, but grinding out levels 1-50 across 20 different characters to try builds out is not exactly rewarding either...

Even a few hundred hours of gameplay is more than enough time to get the currency needed to buy a top tier unique and/or a 6 link.

It only took me about maybe 60 hours of farming Piety to get the 30 exalts needed for my 6L weapon.

Sorry, but GGG cant do anything about this. They designed the game to be a competitive wealth grab, with extreme emphasis on aquiring that wealth through trading. This concept then produces a lot of wealth grabbing hores & greedy bastards, that will do anything to climb the tycoon ladder.

Working as intended.

And loving it for that. And supporting them as well to keep it the same that I love it for. I'm a good trader and this game rewards me for that. Couldn't be better.
haven't stopped .... yet.

But when I do I already know why, because I've been tempted to quit several times for this reason.

Having the ability to handle end game content ( managed to run 76 maps :D ) but not the means to get at the content, really sucks. My map pool has gone from a couple 75's a pile of 73's and 72's..... to only a few shit 70's. So now I have to run death map rolls on 70 maps hoping and praying that +2 maps drop which likely won't happen.....so that I can run death map rolls on 72 maps and hope and pray for +2 map drops on those.

Or I mindlessly grind "Pooriety" until I get an exalt or two worth of chaos because trade is pretty dead at the end of the season, so that I can buy a couple 74+ maps.

Rinse repeat rinse repeat rinse repeat rinse repeat rinse repeat rinse repeat get frustrated rage quit.

Yep, I'm loving PoE, but I really can't understand why the hardest content of a supposedly hardcore action role playing game is gated by rng & trading.

Too bad they don't see how good the ARPG element of their game is...
I got bored with the game... I'd been playing since June 2012 or so, and I'd made a number of level 73-75s in Closed Beta, and then in Open Beta I started to slow down because I'm just plain bored with the game.

A big part of it is that I played A1/A2 endlessly early, because I was desperate for an ARPG that I didn't hate to play, so now playing through that, new content and all, is still extremely tedious for me. I've played it. I don't want to play it 30 times.

Another big part of it is that I just don't feel PoE (or any other "modern" ARPG) is "rewarding" enough for the player; everything's formulaic, balance is everything, and the game's difficulty is largely determined by your drops or your willingness to engage in trading. I can feel the stick tied to my back and I can see that there's a carrot hanging from it.

I'm still interested in PoE, I still pick it up and play it for an hour here or there, but that's like not playing at all. I haven't managed to make a level 70+ in this current ladder because I don't have the heart to play for hours on end doing the same stuff over, and over, and over, and over.

On one hand, this is on the tail end of a decade of playing Diablo II regularly, and other ARPGs, so I've definitely got ARPG burnout going on, but on the other hand if there were a way for me to bypass low level content (that I've literally played 100 times) and "rush" my characters quickly, I'd probably be more interested in playing, buying more character and stash slots, and microtransactions because I think there's a lot of PvP potential, but I don't feel like putting in the time to level, grind, and then farm to play this game. Speaking of farming, in more than a year of playing through CB, OB, and so forth, I've never found anything truly valuable or salable. But then again, I don't play nolife style and that's what the game seems to demand.

I already *have* a job. I don't need a game that feels like one - So it's not really so much that PoE has any failings, but it doesn't suit how I want to play games anymore - I can pick up Binding of Issac, Hotline Miami, or Battlefield and play it for a few hours on weekends, and leave it, whereas PoE I feel like I need to play like a full time job to make any progress or be competitive in any potential PvP endeavor, so I just don't play.

You know what was so great about Diablo 2?

This game was *really* designed with solo play in mind. Selffound solo Players could slowly progress through the game, farm bosses now and again (or have an MF char because of that retarded MF system that clearly favoured some builds over others) and eventually clear the hardest levels all by themselves and keep playing the hardest areas. The Traders had their fun as well despite Diablo 2 being balanced with solo play in mind. The Rulz0rs had their Hammerdin Bots ready only days after a ladder reset that rushed them to high levels in the throneroom so they didn't need to play themselves. Everyone could play the part of the game they wanted without someone telling them what is and isn't the correct way of playing.

(And there's nothing bad about eventually beating a fucking game and starting again with a new character. To quote the Ranger - Life is nothing without Death. That simple rule seems to be forgotten sometimes.)

I think I have to agree with that. Well I dont care about scammers too much - I think everybody is responsible for their own trades.

But mostly these scammers are the ones who spam the trade chat and the public board so that you hardly can use it.
- "Buying all uniques for 1-3 chaos"
- "Offer Chaos for 2x Alteration"
- "xyz lottery"
...

At least 70% of all games in public Board are scam trade-partys and tradechat gets spammed even worse! So annoying...

You definately should do something against that!
