Well buff monsters and nerf players = balance
+ very poor balance endgame builds = some fine and OK, other don't even half good for endgame.

Game should be challenging, but it seems the theorycraft isn't about finding strong builds, but it's more like debugging. All popular builds will have similar power in time (if not nerfed to the ground), finding new ones is pointless.
You won't have my gear.
I haven't quit the game but I just log in and idle.

There isn't anything to actually do as far as end game goes. Farming piety or low level maps are basically the same, and they give nothing for doing them. I think I've farmed piety in full mf gear for around 20 hour total over the course of a handful of days and the best drops I've had were ones that vendored for a full alteration orb each.

Playing the game (maps, or MF farming) actually sets you back in terms of progressing, which makes no logical sense for how a game should be designed. You get further ahead in the game by idling in trade and spamming to buy regrets for 1 chaos a piece and then flipping them for 1.3c each. I don't want to do the aforementioned, so I just idle alt tabbed until I feel like doing a piety run or two.

I may have the inverse opinion of others, but honestly: lower the drop chance of unique items. Not all uniques globally, just these shitty ones that vendor for less than rares. I swear to christ, if I see another crown of thorns drop, I'm going to flip a table. It's like a slap in the face to see a unique drop and it be worth less than vendor trash because at least vendor trash is used in chaos recipes. It completely takes the wind out of my sails to see uniques dropping that are worth less than white items with tri-color links.

I currently am still playing on and off, but I'm going to stop soon. Here are my reasons.

- Game gets boring after continuously running through same content with different characters. Levels 1-30 get painful after creating numerous toons.

- Too life dependent if you wish to get far, causing many builds to be similar.

- Too gear dependent if you wish to get far, causing many builds to utilize same gear / stats on gear.

- Desync desync desync. Would love to play HC league but can't be bothered to knowing at some point at some level, I will wind up in the middle of a mob out of nowhere getting killed with no chance to rescue myself. And I will NOT Alt-F4 like a bitch just because its a "viable strategy".. I'm not a child, I will take my death like a man.. just not when its because of poor netcode.

- Low Drop rate of orbs = making crafting unviable unless you RMT or happen to find a .000001% amazing drop which you can turn around and trade. It also serves to make orbs the "currency" that this game is supposed to not use, remember?

- Even IF you were to gain crafting materials, the RNG will fuck you constantly, making crafting a frustrating endeavor more times than not. Even just getting the right colors on a 4l can sometimes take a full stack of chromes.. this is not even unfair, its just plain stupid.

- Most drops in the game are only vendor-worthy.. takes an immense amount of time and luck to find anything of significant value, and even then the chances are very high that it will not be viable to use with the build you are currently working on.

- End game map system, though interesting as far as concept, is a broken system. Players cannot sustain map pools and are forced to grind the same content as they have for days/weeks to even get to maps and find initial maps. Also, maps do not have any buff to item drops keeping drop rates poor even WITH quantity/quality.. I've read enough and seen enough to know that even with high MF, you can still get absolutely nothing AND after spending tons of orbs/chisels..

- Low end items can still drop in very high level areas. Thanks for the ilvl 75 club with 10-22 physical damage.

- Some mechanics in game are beyond annoying such as lightning thorns and reflect

- many skills in the game are useless. Many uniques in this game are useless. Many mods that can be rolled on gear are useless.

- Skills and builds constantly getting nerfed at random points in time yet content stays the same = balance is a moving target and always seems off

- probability of finding direct upgrades for your gear thoughout the life of a character is way way too low = not rewarding to find your own items.

- trade is pushed far too much leading to crazy prices set by users on gear, making much of the gain unattainable or "gated" from large percentage of player-base.

- GGG seems to put more onus on creating new content and nerfing existing content as opposed to fixing core mechanics within the game (Trade, Desync, Difficulty Scaling)

- Scaling between Act 3 and Act 3.5 is totally out of whack - you go run Piety easily only to head to scepter of god and almost get three-shot.. what in the fuck..

- have to deal with many people to trade, many of whom are greedy as could be and generally unfriendly.. although some are helpful, reading bitching and elitism on the forums is pathetic and not inviting, especially to new players

- in order to achieve anything a player is required to donate way too much of their time and GGG doesn't appear to be interested to create separate leagues to accommodate more casual players, which the vast majority are..

I could go on, but I think I made my point. This is not to say that I haven't had fun with this game.. I think GGG have done a great job with many fascets of the game, and the fact that its free is great.. but that is not enough IMO to save it from its shortcomings.

Many players who love the game and support it will stand by it no matter what.. that is their prerogative.. but to turn a blind eye to all of the problems and challenges this game has is unfair to the playerbase and also to GGG.

People will come and go, but I doubt this game will ever reach its true potential after its extended Closed and Open Beta phase already passed, and large number of players who have already played themselves out of this game.
Other games are coming along now that will match and surpass what this game has to offer, and it will be a steady decline to where only hardcore streamers and traders and botters will bother with this game. This to me is the greatest shame of what has had the makings to be a top tier game.

same here, well written.

Game should be challenging...

I cannot totally agree with that. Imho it is fine if the game is challenging while playing your char to higher lvls, but in lategame with high end gear you really should be godlike in an ARPG (at least in singleplayer).

The goal in an ARPG is to find an amazing build and amazing gear to feel like a god. In the endgame the fun is all about finding/farming nice loot, so you have to be as effective as possible. It doesnt make sense if you have to waste your time with boring white and even bnlue monsters.
Imho it just feels frustrating when u have to waste so much time to get to the boss and finally get the drop you want.
White and blues just have total crappy droprates - it is annoying and unrewarding. So why force the player to waste soo much time on them?
Imho you should be able to oneshot them all like back in D2 where e.g. a frostsphere or a multishot/java kills whole screens in no time with the right gear...

Main reason: Map system. This is the fifth time I've come down from well-rolled 75/76 maps to 71's. I don't understand why not let players enjoy their characters in end game areas after they've spent so much time in them.

2nd reason: crafting system is extremely flawed, and only caters to the RMT crowd, if you're an average player, hell, even above average players, you have no chance to try and craft your own items, only the super rich 1% gets to do it, and subsequently trade amongst themselves. And you have to trade, unless you want to gimp your character with sub-par equipment while you do lunaris 3 until lvl 90. Which brings me to my next point:

3rd reason: absolutely atrocious trading system, makes it impossible to sell anything in a moderate amount of time, even if priced to sell fast.

4th: lack of interest from GGG to improve things, particularly the map system. This problem has been going on for months, you get to lvl 80 in 1 week, and then what? re-roll every week and try every possible build? with what currency exactly? You can consider yourself lucky if you get an exalted drop per lvl 80 char.

As an afterthought, don't take steamcharts' decline in POE numbers so lightly, if anything it just proves that the game has problems to keep its player base, aka you're failing hard at replayability, GGG.
Waiting for the new leagues, 4 months is just WAY too long.

ZiggyD is the Labyrinth of streamers, some like it, some dont, but GGG will make sure to push it down ur throat to make you like it

I'm still playing, but it won't be for much longer the way things are going.

Reasons:

1) Currency never drops
2) High-level uniques never drop
3) 10% XP loss due to desync happens constantly
4) Trading system is not viable
5) Jewellers and fusing system is a broken timesink
6) Crafting is not viable unless you RMT
7) High level maps are pretty much gated content that can only be run in a group, since you can't maintain them solo

Among other things that render endgame more of an insipid 9 to 5 job than something you can actually enjoy.

Everything in endgame is a slap in the face to the player. Why is endgame designed to be so frustrating? Why can't you come in, and enjoy yourself, instead of feeling like everything is a chore or that the so-called "RNG" is conspiring against you?

I've put 700 hours into this game and I'm reaching my breaking point. I like to see things through to completion, and get my character to a point where I'm satisfied with it, but there is just nothing compelling about putting so much into this game and getting nothing in return. No, GGG, I do not find Temporal Chains--which rolls on my maps 1/3 of the time--fun. In fact, nobody does. And guess what, you don't give me enough currency or maps to have the option to not do them! And hey, look, you gave me a nice chest--except I may as well not even have it since I'll be spending the next four weeks trying to 5-link it.

Worst of all is the silence and hubris from GGG. Chris seems like a swell guy, but I don't agree with the things he or many of the other developers state. It's their game to do with as they wish, but when every single person you play with remarks how shitty--and I emphasize the word "shitty," because that's the word they use--most of the systems in the game are, you're not in a good place.

Edit: Bought D3 last night. Just got tired of finding my build was further nerfed and blowing nearly 400 jeweller's to no result. Also, that chest I mentioned 5Linling? I didn't get it till the end of February, so it was nearly two months. This is a game, it's meant to be fun. This is just not fun when you realize the house is the only one that ever wins.
