Yep. Played on and off since closed beta. Multiple 80+'s, had fun.
A few simple recommendations to make this game what could have been the greatest ARPG of all time...
1) Desync. Simply put, the main contributing force to me quitting. Anyone who says it "isn't a thing" or to "build around it" is making excuses. It does exist. Its god awful for some people, I'm one of them. Is it a great game with desync? Sure, but it could have been better and more enjoyable.
2) Maps. Maybe the amount of people who actually use maps as their main source of entertainment is so negligible compared to those who use new characters and/or races that this is just NOT a priority to the development team, but seriously.. If I'm doing 40k AOE dps and never dying (unless its due to desync), why should I *not* be able to do the hardest content in the game to my hearts content if I'm capable? Seriously... its such a huge flaw. Just make it to where whenever the last monster in a map is killed if no other map has dropped, a replacement map drops. There's no reason I should EVER have to go down in map tiers if I can complete the tier I'm at. Currency sink? More like trivial pointless time sink.
3) Test your own content. Respond more quickly to player requests. It's pathetic that most people skip particular maps and/or map bosses. This should be a quick sign that there's an inherent flaw with said map/boss, and it should probably be revised so that people are at least TRYING it.
4) Reduce the harshness of xp loss post 80 if you're NOT going to allow maps to be accessible to a players content and/or resolve desync.
5) The current crafting system sucks. Probably because its not a single player offline game, but some people I play with can tell you, it literally took me 721 jewelers to 6 socket a white harbinger bow. Developers add diminishing returns all the time, why not making diminishing returns on failure rate for things like 6 socketing and lesser fusings #'s (4 should be reasonably achievable, 5 a little less so, but possible). There is NO reason it should take me 721 jewelers to six SOCKET an item. It's simply not fun. Period.
6) Taken from something a D3 dev once said (yet also failed to make players feel), there's no such thing as too much power. ARPG's are meant to make you feel godly after X amount of time spent on character planning/development. Does that happen in this game? I'd say yes, but more "OP" builds is not a BAD thing. They're fun. They don't ruin other peoples experiences for the most part. I'd argue that they enhance peoples experience more than they ruin it.
TLDR: Kill desync, rework map drops/system (or create better end game), test your own content, crafting = a little too random... only a little though, not enough fun builds.
EDIT: Already gave all my gear (100+ exalts) to a friend. Enjoy the best 6L Oro's on domination! It was awesome partnered with Kaom's though still not as powerful as I'd have liked. Good luck to mah friends! See ya in another game. =)
EDIT 2: Personal opinion, but MF (or IIQ/IIR) is such a tired, old concept. It's really, really dumb. Players should be able to gear to the teeth for POWER, and their ability to kill/clear should be the largest contributing factor to how fast they garner wealth... not how many items with "dragon" and "excavation" they can get on them while still killing things.

See you in act 4.

Agree 100% with the OP its why I also stopped playing, enjoying PTS for D3 loot 2.0 now with no magic find gear and I can gear up the most powerful I want and see actual upgrades drop for me, however I miss the map system from this game for endgame :(

To the people saying "your points all made me rage" and "desync is only an issue for few" or "I play hardcore and have never died to desync", that's awesome for you guys.
I'm very, very happy to hear that. However, the fact that you say it's not a problem because you macro'd /oos to a key should tell you how big a problem it is. Most ludicrous argument I've ever heard to lag/latency issue... "Dude, no big deal, just macro a button and spam it amidst combat". Super fun... /sarcasm
To the "please don't lessen the difficulty"... Where did I EVER mention toning down the difficulty other than ACTUALLY testing their own map bosses and realizing people skip anything that is stupidly hard? New idea, only let map bosses consist of Shock and Awe, Devourers and Piety. Sounds fun. By the way, taking down the harshness of the death penalty has NOTHING to do with game difficulty.
Since everyone here likes analogies...
PoE is the abusive dad beating your mom, but its only occasionally, and he still takes you to football games so everything's OK! Or, you know, he could be the same awesome dad without beating your mom... Just a thought! =)

Just like to add
A solution to highlevel map issues
And the fact that a lot of bosses are skipped, can be solved with one little change
Make map bosses have an extra "map slot" like piety does.
Risk/reward for map bosses are way off atm.

Thanks for the feedback as usual! Make sure to check back in as we continue to patch the game and resolve issues like these. The new four-month leagues (early March) are a great opportunity to check out the changes.
I have hopes that you guys will address these issues, since you listen to community feedback and at this point, half the forum is nothing but (valid) complaints on trading, crafting or maps.
Make things more accessible, and in the end you'll retain players. They'll create more characters they can gear, but more stash tabs, and everyone will be happy. A lot of people are quitting when they hit endgame due to these issues, and you're not gonna have another jump in audience like you did with the official release. Now's the time to address this stuff.

Agree with pretty much everything OP said
Just hope they fix some of these issues before early march... Specifically the map drop rate. I have a ton of fun playing high level (mid to high 70's) maps on my main, but they rarely ever last and I'm back to steamrolling lower level content which is much much less fun and has resulted in several weeks away from the game

The fact is, GGG made PoE the game that they wanted to play. They already have made many changes that Chris probably would've originally said "no way" to. That is what made this game great. It isn't like other games, and I don't think Chris should cave on certain things. Desync is an issue ofc, but that is a massive technical issue with no simple solution. Decreasing desync, if possible, is an on going process.
I disagree with maybe 50-75% of the OP. I do however agree with his idea that in an ARPG (any RPG really), after a certain amount if time you should feel like you've been able to accomplish what you wanted to. And there are other things that I take issue with. But the bottom line is that I would rather have GGG continue to develop the game they want, rather than the game I want. I many times feel the same as the OP, but every single time when I take a step back and calm down, I realize that these things are kind of what make PoE what it is.
I've played tons of games that feel more rewarding after x amount of time, tons of games with offline modes, and tons of games with "insert something PoE lacks here", etc. At the end of the day, I haven't played many games like PoE, however.
For all the things I complain about, like when I'm raging about being broke in game, never being able to own a soul taker, RMTers all over, or whatever it is, the fact remains that PoE is one of the best RPGs I've ever played. And I think that is the case because GGG went out on a limb and made a game that they wanted to, not some dumbed down typical game like all the shit you see today.
Edit: And yeah, map drop rates are whacky I agree. I had two days of insane drops, where I was actually able to build a map pool as a solo player. However, that good luck died very quickly, and went back to what it was before those two days (when I was making posts about my map drop rage).
I think for me, the inconsistency sometimes is what I don't like. You never know what's going to happen, and when you dump such a staggering amount of currency into maps, it is tough to get no maps or loot out of it. But again, that's kind of PoE in a nutshell. It is brutal, and most of the time you get laughed at by the game, but when something good happens oh man is it fucking awesome.
