One more thing, this new era of gaming sucks.

There was this several-year gap where Blizzard made absolutely nothing that wasn't WoW-related. I never touched WoW, but had lots of fun with D1, D2, War3, and BW. Then they made SC2, and D3, and D3 led to PoE (for me).

The existence of WoW (and era of MMOs) seems to have done ... something ... to other genres. Some sort of bleed-over effect. You can even find it lurking in sc2. It's hard to put precisely. Things like "tank builds", and "gear checks." Quite possibly I was too young at the time (I'm in my mid-20s), but I never once saw those concepts before D3. (Again, I've never touched an MMO -- I find the idea of a subscription-based game to be a dangerous one.)

Personally, I like to coin the term ''neogaming'' when I have to discuss this era of gaming with friends. An era of repetition, casual mechanics, competitive scenes, DLC, DRM and F2P. Not the best era, but the one we live in mainly due to scaling popularity of gaming since around 2008-2009 with the advent of games like League of Legends, Call of Duty, WoW Wrath of the lich king expansion, the first F2P mmo's with their F2P model and the Small high-priced DLC's on many games.

Anyway....
Of course there's a such thing as too much power. The biggest contributing factor in a player quitting is going to be the feeling of having nothing to work toward in improving their character. Yes, this can happen because of impassable walls due to running out of maps, but immediately rocketing to 78 maps and trivializing them, thus making further theorycrafting and gearing unneccesary, is the exact same problem.

People also complain about "single skill spam" a lot. The way you fix this is not by making everyone so overpowered that there's no point in using situational abilities.
i approve this message the end game suck the desync is terrible all im doing now is pvp 24/7

and yea pvp sucks too (just me vs myself waiting for a Q 1 hour yet no 1 come to pvp wtf?)

but i have no choice i got no other game to play besides this

Well chris replied to your thread, but still didn't SPECIFICALLY point out desync ;).

Although it's a shame to see a lot of these threads - not to mention a lot of in game friends who don't post have left from these issues. It's just not fun progressing past 90 when you have to completely change your playstyle (aka, have no fun doing it) in fear that you might not be where you're at on the screen or you /oos yourself into a pack of mobs, etc.

Maybe they'll get the hint that a lot more people are gonna go if this doesn't get looked into.

1) Desync. Simply put, the main contributing force to me quitting. Anyone who says it "isn't a thing" or to "build around it" is making excuses. It does exist. Its god awful for some people, I'm one of them. Is it a great game with desync? Sure, but it could have been better and more enjoyable.

3) Test your own content. Respond more quickly to player requests. It's pathetic that most people skip particular maps and/or map bosses. This should be a quick sign that there's an inherent flaw with said map/boss, and it should probably be revised so that people are at least TRYING it.

I agree with those two points. Desync is obviously a problem, no one's gonna disagree with that. I also think that the difficulty of map bosses seems very random. Take the maps Torture Chamber and Waste Pool for example: Both are level 72. Torture chamber's boss (Shock and Horror) is really dangerous, to a point where some players just skip it. The boss in Waste Pool (generic frost elemental, forgot its name :X) on the other hand is basically free loot. I don't mind map bosses being difficult, what i dislike is the random spikes in difficulty.

That said, i disagree with pretty much everything else the OP said. Randomness is part of the game. The crafting system is fine the way it is, so are map drop rates.
I also really disagree with the statement that players should become "overpowered" at some point. The game isn't fun if you just faceroll everything. I think PoE does a really good job to keep the game challenging for a long time. The sense of making progress is more important than feeling "powerful" in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback as usual! Make sure to check back in as we continue to patch the game and resolve issues like these. The new four-month leagues (early March) are a great opportunity to check out the changes.
DESYNC TOO?!?!

Desync is leaps and bounds better than it was at the start of OB.

I'd be shocked if it doesn't continue to improve.

It is this kind of attitude that drives away players.

Since when is PoE an MMO? People agree with him for different reasons. How does anything he said make him a casual. I think the death penalty is fine tbh, can't just cheese your way through grinding characters. With that said, a penalty whenever desync is such a huge liability in this game is just absurd. Fix one or the other, preferably fix desync.

Making stuff take LONGER to achieve not really a challenge. All you do is put more time to grind for it. To be able to put more time than other player is a great effort but not everyone could put up with such effort. I got work on the day and few hours to play at night. Are you telling me that i shouldn't get great item because of that?
