Why shouldnt things be expensive? Should they nerf crafting since items can be worth several hundred ex?

Gating TOP TIER content to top tier players is complete horseshit? Im very sorry that you arent able to farm docks and have absolutely amazing gear, very sad story

I'm pretty sure you ALL missed the point of the OP.

The "problem" is that a 6 SOCKET UNIQUE has a CURRENT OFFER - NOT BUYOUT - OF 50 EXALTS.

It means one of two things.

1.) Either this Item is ridiculously over powered and should have received the SAME TREATMENT as Kaoms and Shavronnes.

2.) Gating the CHANCE TO DROP a unique such as this behind 76plus maps is complete horseshit and terrible for the game.

I've got amazing gear in the trash league you play in. And in Hardcore. And in Domination. C/O on a SIX SOCKET item is more than double what Shav's or Kaoms ever was prior to legacy discussions. That's idiotic for a game where rares are supposed to be better than uniques. They should either admit that uniques are better, or they should drop at itemlevel.

I don't really see the issue. GGG's goal has been not to support pay to win. Should they also decide that play to win is a bad thing? Of course those players, who spend more time on the game get higher gear. That is true even without a possibility to trade.

It is true, that there are more wealth in trading than in drops, but that's really unavoidable. You are racing single player drops vs all those players, who are trading. This is not a single player game so trading must be allowed. Some people enjoy the trading, others don't. It's a matter of choice and I can't see any harm in that.

So far I've bought only one useless unique item for testing (1 chaos, so not a big deal) and one skill gem. Usually I prefer self founding in games anyway, and in this game trading is a bit too troublesome for me. But that's my choice, I feel fine for those, who enjoy the trading and get more wealth (isn't that the purpose of trading. To get wealthier?). I only started lvl 66-67 maps so can't say how far I can progress without trading, but so far trading hasn't been required.

You hit "the wall" around the low-mid 70s maps (74s in particular I feel). Self-found is fine up till there.

If you scale for inflation, technically, Old Shav's was still worth more than Voltaxic.

Maybe they are very close though now.

That may be. I have no idea, should I have some high level unique items or what to manage myself in the end game. I play unarmed, so I don't need weapon upgrades (quivers/shields sure) I have resistances capped and quite a bit physical damage reduce as well (armour reduce close to 90% with molten shell and a flask). Also have 7 endurance charges to reduce those big hits. What I mostly need is hp (2500 atm), but next 10 levels grant that from passive nodes.

Anyways, my point wasn't wether or not one can beat everything there is to beat without trading. I just think trading should be possible in a game like PoE. I don't have a strong opinion about having an auction house or not, but I sure don't miss it. And about the prices in trade. Well, that's something players decide.

Aha, I find myself once again arguing about details with someone I probably agree with.

The most reasonable set of complaints I have seen is that it is not feasible to run the highest maps solo without engaging is a large amount of trading. Such complaints are, in essence, that trading should not be mandatory, and that a solo self-found player should be able to access all of the content in the game.

I don't necessarily agree that that's true.

However, I wanted to point that out to you, to help you understand where the complaints might be coming from. If you have just hit the low maps, you haven't seen where a lot of the more legitimate complaints spring up from.

Yep, I might well change my opinion later on :) And these are opinions anyway so I'm not saying things are or should be like I see them now. I'm kinda keen to see those high level maps and how much gear they actually need. I have no illusion that my current gear is enough and realise I most likely need to use trade to get good enough gear.

Still. I kinda like when there's always next obstacle to win and still something to achieve.

Luxury items are always priced according to people's ability to pay... not on the item's intrinsic worth. Look at the price of baseball cards, or of diamonds. The price of a 25k diamond isn't 25 times the price of a 1k diamond. You don't even need a 1k diamond to "win", but people who have the money seem to want that 25k diamond anyway, and are willing to trade for it.

Me? I couldn't care less. There's no way either the person trading for that diamond or the person selling it will ever cross paths with me. They're not even on my Christmas list. Let them play their stupid game, and I'll play mine.
