Really?? This is a problem....

It still works, so I don't see what the problem is. Click-to-attack is fifteen years old, and that still works as well. If it ain't broke...

But if you really hate trading for gear, suggest a fix. I've yet to hear anyone complaining about trading suggest something different. And don't say Auction House. It didn't work for D3, it's not going to work for PoE.
Look, man. Video games are hard, okay?

It works because there aren't any better ways to do it at the moment.
If you could control easily with your brain nobody would use mouse+keyboard anymore. But mouse+kb is state of the art atm.

Action House didn't work for Diablo 3 because you HAD TO.
Playing selffound wasn't possible, you just got stuck at some place (for me it was Act 2 in Inferno and I had no 5 millions to spend for items so I couldn't play with that char anymore).
And there was no gold sink, so total inflation, a 900dps weapon I bought for 300k increased 3x in 3 weeks, nearly costing 1 million gold.

Now you can't afford anthing in the AH if you have less then dunno, 30 million? 50 million? The economy was and is totally fucked up.

Trading in online boards works, so does riding a horse - I prefer AH + cars/bicycles.

It is a valid argument to state that because only one of a certain unique has been traded in a particular league, that is the only instance of that unique existing in the league?

Reading is not something you do very often?

ONLY ONE ON THE SERVER FOR SALE
SALE
SALE

Not really sure what you are trying to state here.

I questioned the logical fallacy that "there is only one of these for sale, therefore only one exists". I get that the unique in question is very rare, I reject that there is only instance of it in existence within a given league. Unless you can prove, with certainty, that it is, in fact, the only one ever to have dropped/been chanced in the league.

Or did you miss the question mark at the end of the section you quoted and not understand that you and I might be in agreement on the logical fallacy?

NOBODY said that only 1 exists if only 1 is for sale.
Don't know where you got that, I've reread his post and there's anything about that in it.

Check Reboticon's posts in this thread, they seem to indicate that he believes this to be the only instance in the league. At least, that is the only way I can interpret his posts.

Regardless, that an exceptionally rare and powerful item would trade for an obscene amount is hardly a surprise. That so many players seem to be of the opinion that they cannot enjoy the game without facerolling it using cookie-cutter unique-enabled builds is hardly a surprise either.

Too much wanting to be at the destination, not enough enjoyment of the journey.

The solution is really simple actually. Mods and tiers on gear should be biased towards mediocre/good AND useful stats, i.e damage mods on weapons, defensive mods on armour and a mix of both on belts, rings and amulets.

High-tier mods, and build-enabling/BiS uniques stay rare. That way playing self-found is much easier to accomplish and much more satisfactory while trading is still viable.

Also all critters - not just the bosses - on maps of the highest level could be made more resiliant and difficult so that you have to have some sort of awesome gear, or patience and skill, in order to survive there.

I think a type of a silent bidding AH, while the seller has total control if he or she accepts the bid or not, would work out great. Kind of how it works now, but a lot more organized and all the items for sale are in plain view. The trade channel is horrible…..These forms and the channel is all we have.

Please quote where I inferred this. I said that was the only way someone could GET one, not that only one exists.

I hate having to go here, but people with your experience force it. Look at your characters. Look at my characters. Enjoyment from the journey? Yes. I enjoyed it the first twenty times or so. I own these items in standard ALREADY. 6L occultist in hardcore as well that I quit chancing/scouring after change to shavs. Please explain to me the exact level of commitment you feel one should have to be able to get an item such as this. Then notice that every item up for discussion is on the challenges for this league. Clearly, they intend for at least ONE PERSON to obtain ALL OF THEM. With that in mind, is it unreasonable for a person who plays a lot during one league to obtain ONE of them? I would say, No.

While we haven't seen it yet in -practice-, the theory behind smart drops in RoS is certainly sound.

That's all false you know. Playing self found was very viable in D3 after inferno got heavily nerfed.

You can easily gear a character to faceroll the game with 50k gold. Midlevel gear is ridiculously cheap.

The truth of the matter was that D3's AH was just too good and convenient. You didn't even need to log onto a character to make huge profits. Drops became unrewarding due to the sheer amount of items traded which meant you can almost never find an upgrade(having no ladders added to that).

Maybe, AFTER they nerfed.
I stopped playing after I got 1shot from the wesps in act 2 for 2 weeks without any chance to progress.

I don't care what D3 is now because the game is still totally fucked up with the skill and item system (bigger hammer = bigger fireballs).
