[Poll] Self Found League - SFL /FINISHED
" His response isn't off, though. I still play self-found only, and yes, it's challenging and my scion, now at 71, sits a bit on the bench while I see about finding a better weapon for her with other characters that fight their way through merciless (but I could grind to 80+ just doing more docks and catacombs; it's just maps that I can't do with the character). If I stop enjoying playing that way, I'll trade. I have no actual trouble with the drop rates of items, just with the unpredictability of crafting (particularly 5L and 6L) and the relative rarity of alchemy orbs. I don't want more unique drops, for example. (I'd like for all uniques to drop outside of maps, however.) I look at playing self-found as a self-chosen playstyle that comes with downsides, just like, say, playing hardcore mode. It'a optional, and it's a choice. | |

A / League or second choice = an option at character creation "check sf box" to disable trading/partying for that character within an existing League(with a seperate ladder) and tradechannel changed to "Selfound channel".

" The problem with posts like that is players are assuming that anyone who is interested in self found can simply stop trading and enjoy it which isn't true. Some people would love to play self found but would not be able to stand how poorly balanced the crafting would be and the difficulty of finding wanted uniques. Just because self found is possible doesn't mean its in a good enough state to tell people to not ask for a better version of it. Standard Forever

GGG, please fix the nature of random numbers and human interaction! Otherwise I will not be able to enjoy this game.

" I 5L'd many items only by flipping alts at vendor just because I usually don't want to waste my chaos/alchs/exalts in it by trading for fusings : grab some self found rarity gear (u can get around 100% easily without an aurseize or an andvarius, just stash the rarity gear you find as you're leveling and equip it when you need it. I'm always doing it, I never buy any rarity gear), farm a very easy zone (because your rarity gear is only rarity) and get them yellows and sometimes a 6 sockets item and fusings. It never took me more than 4 days (playing in the evening) to 5L an item strictly self-found. Someone in this thread recalled the very good SMASH challenge by Kripp during a one week race in Open Beta : many people choosed to play Self Found, solo, and also they had to play melee when melee was very bad. Guess what, many of them did very well and were doing maps within the week (and I'm not talking about 2 guys out of 1000). But once again, self-found is supposed to be harder, but it's everything but impossible in the state of the game right now. It's just... harder. I'm not much of a forum poster, but I've been lurking here for a year now (and playing PoE for that same time length) and as someone who ONLY plays single self-found I would love to see something like a self-found league incorporated.
However, I sincerly doubt that GGG will ever incorporate this into the game. A self-found league would just destroy PoE's image of a worthy D2 successor, what with the endgame being almost completely inaccessible to casual players (disregarding the few lucky ones) due to a shitty crafting system and an even worse drop system. This is from a single self-found view of course, the only way I play these games since D1. PoE is, from a SSF pov, the grindiest game I have ever, ever played. And even with all the grind you are not guaranteed to have something to show for it at the end. The amount of crafting mats I have gone through in one year and still not having seen a 6 linked .. its mind- boggling. But maybe GGG needs a SFL more than anything else. Maybe then they realize how many people actually prefer playing SSF and how much PoE lacks in this regards. Torchlight 2 is the perfect example of an outstanding SSF game, however its art style and lack of build variety were its downfall. I love PoE despite all its major faults and would love a SSF league, but GGG has to address their game's crafting and drop systems, because atm its borderline psychotic to try and play as SSF in the endgame. " The problem isn't human interaction dumb***, its that the game is balanced for an economy so actually playing the game versus using it as a trade simulator feels lame. Standard Forever
