New class of item rarity: Mythical

It's an interesting idea sure, but I guess my question would be this:

Why?

Does it make the game better?
Does it make the game more balanced?
Does it make the game more fun?

If the answer to all three of those questions is no, and as near as I can tell that's the case, then all it could possibly accomplish is to create a potential for imbalance. The risk/reward ratio here is a little out of whack. There is next to no reward potential, so any potential for risk at all means it should not be implemented.

You need to elaborate more on your points. Perhaps not an essay as all my posts seem to turn out to be, but you just said it wasn't balanced, fun, or made the game better without explaining why. Your argument has no substance, it's akin to someone saying "i'm right, you're wrong: deal with it."

Others have suggested ways of curbing the potential for imbalance, like restricting the # of exquisite items worn at any one time to 1 or 2. For the most part, it would just make "perfect" items obscenely rare, i.e. more rare than mirrors are rare. That is something I find intriguing. Right now, eternal orbs have made it so that perfect items are a real thing. I'm not sure I like that. If exquisite items were added, eternal crafted rare items would still be BiS and extremely valuable in the vast majority of cases. There would still be mirror services and a huge market around high-end crafting.

The only difference is there would occasionally be an exquisite item dropped that blows some previously "perfect" item out of the water i.e. an armor chest with top life, %armor, flat armor, % armor/stun recov, chaos res, and str. Even then, some builds would rather have the extra resist instead of the ~600 or so armor that the hybrid roll would add. The chances of those rolls all happening together though is insanely unlikely.

The reward potential is, in my opinion, huge. Certain exquisite items could enable entirely new builds. Exquisite items would create additional excitement to high-end loot drops and add a whole bunch of novelty to the process of getting GG items. To me, that means it will add fun and make the game better. The only question mark at this point is whether it could be balanced. I think restricting it to 1 per character and perhaps adding a negative stat would do the trick, though.

This is one amazing idea. As long as some restrictions are made (like the suggested max. 1 exquisite item per character - just to prevent extremely lucky or wealthy players from getting OP equippment), I'd really love to see it implemented in game. More diversity usually means better.

This surely isn't the most important matter, but what about vendoring these items? Since they would drop rather rarely, I think selling them to vendors should reward the player with something else than the usual shards thing; my idea is orb of scouring.

Also, bump - just to make more people able to see this thread and make useful suggestions.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, suggestions and bumps! :- D

I updated the original post to include name suggestions and small details, including:

6) Selling (vendoring) Exquisite items could yield higher orbs since its already so rare. A "common" Exquisite might sell for 1 Orb of Scouring while an Exquisite item with an "abnormal mod" could yield 1 Chaos Orb.

And another bump.

Can someone from GGG stop by even if to say this idea (or something coming from it) is not viable or not good for PoE?

I like the idea of adding another kind of rarity items. That makes finding stuff more fun and fresh. Only seeing yellow drops all over again is meh :p .
