New class of item rarity: Mythical

I support this idea! I'd also submit 'Mythical" as a potential name. I'd also go so far as to say they should be more rare then uniques, be limited to level 65+ items, and the 6 affixes should be limited to mods of at least equal value to their equippable level, to avoid getting things like 'adds 2-4 cold damage' or '+15% armor'.

I dislike the name, but I like the idea.
Personally I'd remove the whole 4/2 affixes stuff and always make the items always have at least one abnormal mod. This would be their main advantage and what makes them unique and valuable. No bad affixes or disadvantages either. I also think they should be able to be chaosed, but after doing so they'd become just a regular rare item. This would be for people who get an exquisite item with shitty stats but good base item and they want to use the base item, even if it means losing its "exquisiteness". Then again, I doubt GGG would ever implement this, even if it was the best idea in the world. I doubt GGG even reads this subforum at all. Scratch that, I know for a fact GGG doesn't give a fuck about this subforum. So yeah while it's fun theorycrafting, don't get your hopes up about this ever becoming real. I also like the idea... BUT...
Since they cannot be chaosed (that's good), i would give those items a chance to rerol their stats thru the vendor recipe, like we used to do with other items (5 of a kind). I.e. if you get one of those and won't use it, it's still valuable, because some one might need it for the recipe. Of course it works only if you forget about binding items to accounts. (Binding items in the trade based game sounds preety irrational to me, but to each their own...) |

Horrible idea.
Things like this just turn the game into a big clusterfuck, like diablo 3 or wow for example. Since the beginning of time, man has yearned to destroy the sun.

It's an interesting idea sure, but I guess my question would be this:
Why? Does it make the game better? Does it make the game more balanced? Does it make the game more fun? If the answer to all three of those questions is no, and as near as I can tell that's the case, then all it could possibly accomplish is to create a potential for imbalance. The risk/reward ratio here is a little out of whack. There is next to no reward potential, so any potential for risk at all means it should not be implemented. |

I believe that most people are playing this game and grinding continuously because of loots. Adding more loots to the game should be good.

" Indeed. Just this point is enough to realize it's a such rare item and also harder to get all desired rolls. Nothing would be more "win win", just making it more exciting (like winning big on lottery). IMO, such items should be tradable. Imagine if you got 1 very good item but itsn't for your build, so why not sell it to someone who needs it? It still would be equally (or more) rare as Kaom's Heart and also expensive, obviously :P Last edited by Violont2#0661 on Dec 27, 2013, 5:26:09 PM

I dont think this is good idea.
It would be better when there was set items like in diablo 2. Btw, my favourite set: http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/sets/sets7.shtml#trangouls I lvled Amazon to 80 lvl and any of the items from this set dropped, so sad. Diablo 3 is tutorial for PoE.

" That doesn't make any sense. There's nothing in his proposal that says exquisite items have a "near guarantee of high tier stats." In fact, there is no more guarantee they will roll good stats than there is with a rare, besides the fact that they automatically have 6 mods. However, getting 6 mods is not the challenge as any of us who have obtained 100's of augmentation orbs from vendoring shitty 6-mod rares can tell you. It's getting the right rolls. The only thing this idea does that's really interesting (IMO) is changing the configuration of prefixes and suffixes. This can have dramatic implications for some items. For example, imagine an armor chest that has flat armor, % armor, % armor/stun recov, AND life. Getting an exquisite armor drop would not guarantee this to happen. It would just give you that chance. To have it turn out well, it would need to be on a high armor base item, and roll those exact 4 prefixes and hopefully not terrible suffixes. Since you can't exalt or chaos exquisite items, the chances of that happening are very, very low. If it did happen, the item would be worth hundreds of exalts. That makes exquisite items very intriguing, and adds to excitement of loot drops. That said, the majority of exquisite items would be absolute crap, just like rares. That wouldn't change the fact that whenever one dropped, people would have the excitement of "what if" as they click that scroll of wisdom. It would also lead to some interesting new builds for some items where 4 prefixes or suffixes could make a drastic difference. I do agree that there should be a maximum of 1-2 per character, otherwise exquisite items would be to overpowered. I don't agree that they should be bind on pickup and I don't think the devs would either. If you've read of heard some of Chris's interviews, you'd know that they value the trading element of ARPG's very highly. Not being able to trade or sell exquisite items would take a lot of the excitement out of finding them for many players. I can imagine a market around unid'd exquisite items (selling that lottery ticket to someone else) that would add a lot of intrigue to high-end trading. Basically I think it's a fantastic idea, though surely there are a few kinks that need to be worked out but I do believe it fits in with POE's design philosophy and could be a worth addition to the game. I mean who out there hasn't wished they could have a quad-resist archon shield or +1 to all gems, +2 to cold gems, +2 to fire gems staff (for something like discharge)? While normally such things would be overpowered, making them extremely unlikely and limiting them to 1-2 per character would balance it and add a ton of intrigue to high-end loot drops.
