What do you wish you would have been told when you first started playing? (SPOILERS)

In hindsight, what is something you wish you would have known right out of the box as a brand new player?

1- I wish i would have realized how rare some orbs were and not used the first 5 i picked up. A regal, alchemy, GCP, chaos and chance. The GCP is still the only 1 i have looted to this day.

2- Item's (white or any other color) with Superior mods can be added up and turned in at 40% for a armourer scrap(gear) or a blacksmith's whetstone(weapons). 20% quality on one item turns in as the same as lower combined 40% total.
An item with a Linked Red, Blue and Green colored sockets can be turned in for a chromatic orb.
There are many, many other recipes but while leveling these will make your life easier when working on High level gear. See the link below for the full list of Vendor recipes.

3- most of the bosses have a certain resistance you need in order to beat them, make sure you stack the proper resistance before you try them, get frustrated and die a few times.

4- If you are going to use an alchemy orb on a white item, use Armourer's scraps or Blacksmith's whetstones before you do. You get +5% quality on a white item vs +1% on non-whites.

5- If you take CI or anything else that reduces your health, ensure you do NOT use any flasks that take health away IE- Caustic flasks as they will kill you.

That necromancers can't resurrect anything that has been exploded, shattered or otherwise destroyed. So much less frustration. :-D
Be prepared to spend more time on the game then you expect.

Also kill necromancers first, they can't rez if they are dead.

FAQ made through many hours of enduring global chat in Normal

that armor isnt at great as i thought it was. My first goals i ever set myself were gain as many life nodes as i can and gain as much armor as i can. As a lagger i cant rely on not getting hit. its just something i have to deal with and why i decided to go the heavy armor heavy life route on all classes.

I wish the game in general, when I started, would of spoken more about the recipes used for crafting. It was a long time before I actually began using these to gain alchs

The value of blood rage. At first glance, I read: 4% life as chaos damage per second?! NOPE.

And now all my chars use it.

Sorry, but isn't that common sense? A necromancer don't create a body out of nothing. He resurrect a dead body, so if the body has exploded, shattered etc, there's nothing left to resurrect. On a side-note, I remember playing Diablo 2 with a necromancer. I often found myself in a race with an enemy toward the corpses. He wanted to resurrect them, I wanted to blow them up. And yes, I did have the Benny Hill theme playing in my head many, many times. :D

On-topic:

- I wish I had known about the quest log. It took me forever to figure out what to do once I reached the first town. Embarassing, I know. But hey, all we have are tiny icons under the map. Kinda hard to miss. ;)

- Wish I had known when the release date for the OB was, so I wouldn't spoil Act 1 and a large part of Act 2. I like to go through the whole thing fresh, not do the same thing over and over.

- Wish I had known how bad Torchlight 2 was, so I could have focused more on PoE.

I havent played the game yet but i wish there were more videos of PoE on youtube or something to get a better picture of what PoE really is.

What exactly are you looking for?

"WTF is PoE" is a good youtube video that starts from the very beginning of the game and explains a good amount of stuff.

Also, if you look at the front page of the website, down in the lower right-hand corner it will show the top three streamers (by views) that are currently streaming PoE. These streams are usually pretty reasonable about taking newcomers questions and answering them.

Heh, I just bought Torchlight 2 over the weekend after "borrowing" a copy from the internet to see if I would like it(I didn't like the first one at all). I have beaten the first act and I have been enjoying it. Its no PoE but still a good solid ARPG in my opinion.

and I guess I will ad something on topic too..

Vendor recipes - I nearly shat bricks when I found out about this. it changed everything about my farming habits.
