Americas way of life is based on mass murder being ok, a vast section of the economy is based around the production of weapons, many millions of jobs, the entire country would go into economic collapse if it stopped taking part in mass murder. If mass murder stops being ok, America falls apart, literally. Given there is little real excuse for mass murder, the situation is that the entire country is run on the principal of mass murder being justified by bullshit.
I'm a veteran of the US Army, and you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

yes, I do sadly.

your economy is reliant on weapon sales, that is why you spread war through the globe, to either use or sell weapons. Sry to break it to you but its true.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
I'm an American. I own no guns. I don't care if healthy people have guns. The problem is just how easy (in many states)it is to purchase a gun. It's easier to get a gun than it is to get a prescription for most non OTC drugs. That seems wrong. In my state, you just go to a gun show, buy an AR-15, and walk out. Or call one of the numerous people selling one on a bulletin board and buy it. There is zero oversight here between private sellers. That it should trouble anyone, and I think people who do really love their guns should be leading the charge to close such loopholes.

Can you now stop Americans having easy access to guns? That is the question.
No, it isn't.

The question is "Can you now stop members of the American military having easy access to guns?"
Because the fucker was in the military.

By the way, the answer is obviously "no."

The next question is how to prevent fuckers like that from joining the military... which I'm sure is something they are currently coming up with plans for right now, and no further QQ on our part is necessary.

Was he in the military? From the video it says he was a defense contractor, which is surely not the same thing.

so i learned that in Iowa they created a law that allows guns to be carried by those who are legally blind.

Hasn't anyone thought of the compromise of requiring a psych analysis before being allowed to buy a gun?
More to the point, they should require psych analysis before letting people such as the perpetrator join the military.

By the way, why is no one in this thread considering that the motherfucker was in the military, and thus it would be virtually impossible to create a gun control law which would realistically keep him away from firearms?

He was a Defence Contractor. He had a history of violence ( he shot someone's tires and said it was in a black out of rage )

And he had 3 or so other arrest for aggression related crimes, but he wasn't convicted.. so he kept his Secret Clearance (which is how he got onto base so easily and into the building where the shooting took place)

He called Police because he was afraid for his life, because people were following him, he could hear their voices. And they were using a microwave machine to vibrate his body and keep him awake at night.

He also went to Psych at a Veterans Hospital.
But nobody communicated any of this to anyone else. And the Police never followed up on it.

Then he just decided to shoot some people.

So in this whole Saga, which im sure there is more to.. the obvious problem is gun control... not the fact that someone who went to a Hospital with a clear problem, was sent back out the door and nobody thought of telling the Navy "hey, this guy that has secret clearance... he's also got issues"

I have no idea who the Victims were, I was trying to watch TV last night. During my 30 Minute show there were 3 mini news breaks that told me:

The guys name
some stuff about the guy
more stuff about the guy
how the US Defence is now looking at changing its security policy
and that the victims were all civilian

They did not mention the Victims Names once.

That's one of the problems with these thing. The Media Glorifies the shooter and makes sure they get their 15 minutes of fame. Giving the next person who wants to do this, even more reason.

They are different things. But he was also a reservist.

You're right! From now on I'm boycotting all media which focuses on the shooter.

Including this thread.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

and wtf is this about:

http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2013/04/30/180037461/new-arizona-law-guns-from-buybacks-must-be-re-sold

so the police do a gun buyback to get guns off the streets...NRA protests and now state says police have to sell those buy-backs so they go back into circulation.

this is why i stay out of gun debates...its clearly not a debate when one side thinks its ok to let blind people carry guns and to force police to sell buy-backs back to shops. no possible way to have a logical debate in that environment.

Can't we all just hug and be friends? Kind of tired of the US debates latley. Happy that some with quite.. ignorant statements and mongoloid logics got silenced due to.. Logical key board warriors.

It's obvious the concept of correlation does not equal causation is completely lost to you on this, it's clear to me that you're arguing from a purely emotional point of view(I'm scared of guns therefore they should be banned), rather than any using any sort of logic, so I don't see why I would bother arguing.

correlation and causation are more closely related than you seem to understand Septile. 2nd cousins at worst, brothers/sisters at best. There is a good reason why people try to "correlate" events in order to understand the "cause" of it. Been happening since man learned to create fire, another good example would be why wheels (in all but the most specific of occasions) are round.
