Is begging for items against any rules?

@HarukaTeno
1) I'm not the OP. 2) I belong to the giver side, not the beggar one. I give people good stuff for free, but don't expect to be given free stuff. more than once, I gave away a free gem, then bought an exact same one in another league, for an Alchemy or more. a few times I bought stuff from trade, then gave them away free a few days later. returned orbs to people I felt I over-charged in trade. do free boss-kills and give free waypoints in every difficulty... but I'm an extreme case. a stupid bastard that would never be "rich" with an attitude like that. why? because I refuse to play "PoE: economic simulator" and insist on playing "PoE: ARPG", or what's left of it anyway. 3) if you don't act like a Dbag in-game, good for you. this is exactly what I wanted. 4) the main point I'm trying to get across, is that even if you are not a "PoE philanthropist", or a crazy old guy like me, you can simply ignore people who are asking for stuff. DON'T GIVE THEM stuff. that's all. no need to insult them or make their lives miserable. asking for stuff sure isn't "a crime". being a dirt-bag towards others on the other hand, sure is. at least in my book. " It's really disgusting and sad there's actually people who think this way. |
|
" People who are perfectly capable of farming stuff for themselves being beggars is what I find disgusting. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

|
" QFT Beggars have no dignity, it shows that you have given up doing things for yourself & would rather be given stuff than earn it, you want others to do all the work & for you to reap the rewards, the epitome of lazy. |

" Oh, wow. This was in onslaught? A league where a Crest of Perandus or a Goldrim is easily a guaranteed chaos? No wonder he got the response he did. I figured this was standard, where, yeah there are people who have tons and tons of items, but onslaught.. You can trade 200 wisdom scrolls for a chaos all day in onslaught. And get 22 Alts for that chaos. That's 5.5 jewelers. Jesus man. Learn some shame. Anarchy/Onslaught T shirt

" This is why I'm leery about giving stuff away. My mace was given to me and now I'm closer to maps than I've ever been (playing self-found) and I would love to be able to help those who are sincerely trying to get better gear so they can reach the higher levels. On the other hand you have to hope you're aren't being scammed and the person just wants to sell what you give them. I guess it's the same in the real world too. They say they're hungry but they just want it for drugs. In times like this I just let my heart tell me what to do. You can't be concerned about what a person does with your act of kindness. if you're nice you make the game (or the world) a little bit better from someone temporarily. If they're running a scam, I have one word for that: Karma. " That's what I hope people are doing here. Look at some other gaming forums and the rep they have. Is that what we want here? I love this game and I want as many people possible to play it because I enjoy it so much. If the forum is hostile, people may come and go. If that happens too often the game could die. I REALLY want to see all 10 acts, so I do what I can to keep people here and enjoying this game. Pay it forward. In response to the OP: I don't think most people have a problem with people asking for things, it's asking for things that are easily available or valuable. It's almost like giving a person $1 and then they ask for $10. That's the only time I get upset about someone asking me for something. Also, I understood your post in the new guy's thresd was sarcasm. Arguing on the Internet: What's the point when you can't punch them in the face when they really piss you off?

" No, what's really disgusting is you being a fucking lazy. You could have earned the fusings yourself in the time it took you to set up the situation you created in General in order to complain on the boards. Your actions are those of the worst type of person. Rather than contribute to your own well-being, you'd rather feed off the hard work of others. And when people don't indulge your leeching, you whine and complain about how the world owes you a living. You manage to be even worse than that by expending the effort required to intentionally set up the situation for you to complain about. You know damn well that your actions will be rebuffed for the abhorrent idiocy that they are. Yet you do it anyways just so you can have something to whine about. There is no worse societal drain than the person who could provide for themself but doesn't. " Sorry I can't quote right on my phone lol. Well to be fair, Reboticon, I actually forgot that he wanted standard currency, he was just asking in onslaught for whatever reason (I guess nobody agreed in standard). So my fault, it wasn't for Ons currency, that was a false implication I made there. Current IGN: TheBearerOfLight

That... actually makes it a lot less bad for me. That he was begging for standard currency in onslaught. Still lazy as sin, though.

people here using words like "hard work" and "earn" just make me laugh.
no such thing as "earn" in a game, where one guy can casually stroll though Normal Act 1 and already have an Eternal and a couple of Exalts, and another can farm high content for a week, and not see a single Fusing. no such thing as "earn" in a game, where a guy can have 3000 Exalts without even playing the damn game. no such thing as "earn" in "luck". had this game been even remotely "risk and reward" - I'd somewhat agree with you guys. but part of the reason I try to help people, is the fact I'm dirt poor myself, and want to spare other people the "experience". how poor? almost 1000 hours since January, and some guys who started a month ago can laugh in my face. why? because I'm not here to be a "trade tycoon", and I don't play a fucking Magic Find Sporker like everybody seem to these days.
