Hoping GGG sticks to their guns.
How about "random loot"? When a rare or currency item gets clicked on, it goes to a random party member. Perhaps those items could be random for the first five seconds, and then become normal loot.

My only complaint is the FFA. I tend to play ranged classes, which means the melee people just snap everything up and dont share. I have to A) solo B) only play with rl friends, if any decide to pick up the game.
I don't like those options, id like to play in a group without feeling like doing so will cause me to get zero loot. I feel no respec is fine, I would love to make multiple witches that all play entirely differently, adds a lot of replay. FFA though, simply feels archaic, outdated. |

I'm neutral on the FFA loot, I think the individual timers could be a few seconds longer, personally, but I won't be broken up either way.
As far as the respec goes? no way, there are plenty of ways to respec. 2 points per act per difficulty, thats currently 16 free respec points atm and will be 18 when the game is live with 3 acts. + each orb of regret gives 1 point, and they arent worth THAT much. you can easily trade for them if you need a few extra points, planning and some form of permanence are important features. |

I respect GGG's decision to keep FFA loot and I understand their reasoning. But I personally hate FFA loot because I want to go kill things, not play this stupid whack-an-item minigame where words pop up and you have to stop fighting and click it in time or you don't get loot.
I could try to play some public games just to see if I can get a friends list of well mannered people who let me have items, but I'd likely have to go through so many greedy d-bags that I just won't bother, I'd rather stick to solo. If GGG feels like they want to push people like me to play public games more, they already know what has to happen. Hardcore 4 life!

I would feel a lot better about there not being a true respec if things like the marauder weapon specific passive talents did not exist.

Overall i hope GGG's is able to attract wide pool of people in order to gain more resources and improve the game even futher, as they clearly have some good minds on their team. I hope for this group loot they can see the bigger picture of people beign, in very different positions and how loot frenzy comes very unattractive to those of us who might randomly play with groups here and there or even devote some chars for group play, but still keep the pace we move somewhat random. Not all have time or intrest to bond with everyone deeper everytime. Once a while ofc you meet people you remember and might add to friends. So i hope they remember many specially older players might have more random times they can play and rely more heavily on grouping with random people to get their share of fun and please dont tell us to play solo. Also you get more easily access to our wallets with little effort. ;)

Even though I hate the FFA system, I agree with OP.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

I also agree with the OP. I want this game to be as hard and gritty as possible. Just as the OP said, as this game grows demands will be made by all the little girls out there that want everything handed to them. I do not want another D3, or another easy game, or another game with a crappy community.
Personally, I never write on the forums but I read them all the time and I've ALREADY noticed a change in the atmosphere around here due to an increase in traffic. This change has been noticeably unfortunate and I just hope that GGG does stick to their guns as the OP has stated. I'm sick of people ruining games because they can't compete or they have to try harder. When I was young games were hard as hell and you had to try your a$$ off to get anywhere. And on top of that you were lucky if a game actually saved your progress lol. So keep up the good work GGG and don't let people change your idea of how you want this game to turn out!! |

" " Um...what you did is repeated what I said as a joke, so you did something unoriginal. I jokingly said this because that is what every asshole that thinks having the OPTION for a different looting mode or longer timers would be the death of the game, and says this. EDIT quotes got all screwey but you get the point. I played D2 way longer than D3, because it was a better game. The looting system in D2 was just bad though. Never once did I join a public game with the expectation of getting my fair share of the loot, so I solod most of it. It is perfectly reasonable to me, to want to avoid that mechanic and have an option. Last edited by Kirisute_Gomen#2880 on Aug 4, 2012, 10:06:43 AM

IMHO a public game is ONLY public if the LOOT is made public. If the loot is individual then what's the point?! The game is supposed to be harder and drop better loot when you're in a party. The caveat to that?! You have to share and decide who gets what loot.
