Hoping GGG sticks to their guns.
No I agree with it but its an opinion that goes both ways. For instance if and when GGG makes a concrete decision about something like looting options which I have been a big proponent of I can accept that and not complain. But if they made a decision for a new looting option to satisfy players like myself I would also expect people on the other side of the issue to accept it and not complain for the same reasons that you just gave.

" I don't think loot distribution is a good example. I'm sure there are some people that will complain either way, but it will pale in comparison to the QQing in the 250+ page loot thread. A large percentage of the pro-FFA people are actually just pro-'whatever GGG thinks is best'. So if it changes, those people are likely to support the decision. Many people on the other side of the loot discussion believe (and clearly state) they know more about the game, genre, community, video games, humans, and earth than anyone that works at GGG. The argument presented there is rarely "This is what I would prefer." The argument presented there is "I'm right, you are wrong." But again, even though the word "loot" is in this thread.. that isn't what this is about. It's about feedback and complaining in general. Most recently motivated by the "leaked" OB skill changes. tpapp157 said it best when he pointed out the QQ response coming from people that haven't even played 0.10.0. They just read some incomplete notes and assume they instantly know more than the developers. " ... to let them know the game isn’t going to be very fair from here on out."

" Sticking with my example of the loot debate. What you wrote here is typical of people on both sides. Standard Forever

I really don't care about balance changes. People will build around it. You will see new cool builds. I really enjoy FFA loot though. I don't ninja stuff and I really have never had any trouble with other players ninjaing either. Most people are kind. They ask if you need an item they picked up. I do the same. The whole FFA loot ruins everything argument is silly to me because I have never seen it in game and I have been playing in pretty much only public groups for the past 7-8 months. This game is so fast paced that people don't slow down to pick up loot. It takes one click to pick up loot and then you are off spamming spark again.
Instanced loot, in my opinion is boring. It was boring in D3 and it was boring in Torchlight 2. I played both of those games for maybe 2 weeks each. I have been playing this game for 1 year and 4 months. FFA loot is part of the reason. I never used the chat a single time playing public games in d3 because there was no reason to. I just played through the level, got my loot, leveled, exited game. The other player may as well not have existed because them being there added no stakes to the game. Maybe I am wrong, but I would say FFA loot brings people together much more than instanced. Last edited by sharkh20#2500 on Jan 14, 2013, 10:10:05 PM

There's never been a f2p game that's compelled me to put my money towards the company. I've been around this game since the start of closed beta. I've seen this game grow and change. Other games, I'd eventually lose interest. This game is different. This is the game I've come back to and think about. I believe and have faith that they'll take this game in the right direction. I believe enough to buy a diamond pack.
Running isn't freedom. You should know that.
ighnaz - Thanks for the beta key!!!! I HAVE NO MORE BETA KEYS!! |

In regards to FFA loot and respec,
I enjoyed personalized loot in D3 after not thinking I would. Seems like FFA loot puts users with slower connections at a disadvantage over other users who happen to be closer to the server. It also breeds a behavior I call 'loot sniping', meaning a person who just holds down alt and stands near the tank and picks up any loot that drops, this in turn will piss ppl off and then they won't want to party with other players at all to get gear. My friends don't really play online games much so I will pretty well never have a large group to party with to get loot, I don't think I should be penalized for this or forced to join some clan just so I can get gear in a group. So I prefer personalized loot, no timers at all. The respec system in this game is pretty good as is. Currency items for respec will have great value because you will need a ton of them to due a solid character retooling, but a miss-click here and there won't totally ruin your build. |

Well the good thing is most members now are very matured and like the decisions made by GGG. Also i think most diamond-supporter, that are the community link to the developers, follow that attitude.
That said i don´t think they will bow down towards full-respecs or no-ffa. Because it´s simple not their design wish/idea. At least i hope so. What can never be lent or earned?
Somewhat, that devours everyone and everything: A tree that rush. A bird that sings. It eat bones and smite the hardest stones. Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings. What am i? |

This is an extremely important topic to me. I hope GGG stays true to their word. I hope GGG does not give in to all the whines and crys.
We'll soon find out, OB will bring in a huge influx of new players, many casual players who will expect GGG to change everything for the casual player. This game is a godsend for all the hardcore old school gamers out there. Everything out there nowadays is dumbed down and made for the casual masses.
