Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
" http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/92894 I'm sure they've heard pretty much all they need to hear, it's just being deliberated. |

I've only been playing for a few weeks so far but it seems to me the best way to play this game is to grab a ranged ability that cleaves, don't bother using it, run around opening all the chests while everyone else is fighting monsters so you can steal all the loot and soak up their sweet sweet group experience at the same time.
Silly me for going the melee marauder route and actually fighting mobs, I wish I realized this was 'Path of do no damage and just wait for free loot'. |

" What fix do you recommend for this? Like in all honesty. Complaints without any sort of idea how to resolve it will just be seen as that, somebody complaining. But I will save you the time (personal opinion time) Other than instanced loot, which i'm almost positive will never see the light of day in this game for good reasons, i'm not sure how that can exactly be fixed. |

" How about flagged loot timers (Like we have now) that don't count down until the player they're flagged for sees the item in their screen? Or all drops from chests are tagged for a random player indefinitely? Or the chest performs a check, if only one player within X distance, all loot dropped is flagged as NOT that player? AKA, they can't pick it up, at all, ever. There, three ideas off the top of my head, none involving isntanced loot. Some may be a bit harder (3) but I don't see how 2 would be that difficult to do. Again, I'd like to ask for someone to define "Loot Tension", if anyone feels up for it. I see no reason why we should be forcing (note forcing) a PvP element into PvE. Even if we do, it needs some serious changes, because tagging it for a player gives completely the wrong idea if they ever want to go back to full FFA. |

" Just a wake up call for everyone STILL talking on this thread. :) |

" You're right I was ranting, I'd had my first chisel drop and someone took it before I could pick it up. Anything I could think of has probably been said already in a 700 page thread and it's so old that if they were going to change anything it would be done by now. Anyway, as far as I'm concerned it could be fixed quite easily; 1. Make any loot dropped appear at the feet of the person it drops for so people can't open chests on the other side of the screen. 2. Double the drop timer. 3. Have an option to view magic, rare, unique items only with a separate hot key to view white items so you don't have to sort through 50 items to try and pick up your drop. |

" we have all posted our opinions we have made clear to th devs that this is THE problem what solution they will decide to apply it is THEIR job, for the god of love if you are PAYING to fix problems you do something wrong and yes we are unsattisfied customers When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself Last edited by killbilly#2346 on Mar 5, 2013, 2:11:54 AM

" name me few apart from d2 that have FFA even the ORIGINAL devs of d2 (tl2) abandon the idea of looting pvp.... please do not try to present "feelings" as facts..there is no arpg with FFA anymore (at least a known one, do not point me in a game with 500 players) When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself

In response to the user called bhavv
Let me make a short/draft of the "debate" history so far between me and you, chronologically: 1. You stated that "grouping is supposed to have a cutthroat approach"; 2. You stated that "you're not meant to trust anyone in this game"; 3. I logically replied to the above statements from you that playing in private parties with friends circumvent both of your 1. and 2. "arguments" thus making your so called "arguments" invalid and defeated; 4. You've taken an "elitist" stance by stating that "so many kiddies that need to go back to typical cookie cutter MMOs"; 5. You then said "stick to playing with your friends in private parties only"; 6. I replied "Just stop embarrassing yourself" because your arguments so far have already been proven incorrect but you still somehow morbidly insist in being incorrect; 7. You then astoundly stated that you've beaten my arguments, when it was clearly the other way arround; 8. In a reply to iamstryker you said "I defended my position against an insulting comment" -you've clearly embarrased yourself by stubbornly insisting on already proven wrong arguments. -so whats insulting in me giving you an advice to stop embarrasing yourself? Basically you insulted yourself, you did that, nobody else. 9. On top of that i find out that you are also a fervent advocate on removing the death penalty (by the way, thats so "elitist" and "hardcore" lol); 10. How more embarrasing can you be? 11. But anyway, who am I to stop you? Just go on, is so funny trying to watch a dude desperately trying to get out of the hole he himself digged for (only) him but in reality accomplishing nothing but getting deeper and deeper in it. " Exactly like poe, normal difficulty pose no death penalty while cruel and merciless difficulty have death penalties in place. |

I loled when i read that the guy so feverishly defending this crappy loot system (bhavv) cries on forums about softcore death penalties. That's just golden.
