I came here from Diablo 3!!! [Please post here if you did as well!]

Yeah just purchased PoE myself now, had enough of the D3 issues. time to get some real ARPG going! :)

Well I loved D2 (who didn't) but I became somewhat disinterested in D3 after I found out about the AH (aka pay2win).
From that I found Torchlight and loved it but always thought it was a bit to bright and cartoonish for the story it tries to tell. Then I hear about TL2 and am quite excited for it, but still it still shares the same flaw imo and that's how I stumped onto PoE.
3 days after finding PoE my friend sends me a link and asks me to play so I have been. I love the graphics style and atmosphere PoE has. It feels very dark and earry which I had back in the Diablo/Hellfire days as a kid.

Sound wise I think PoE has it set quite nice but It still doesn't live up to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGTUz4OnzdM imo

And cant play that soundtrack without thinking of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e02G8y000WE

To end this somewhat pointless post, never played D3 but welcome to PoE
Yes, thankyou to whoever mentioned PoE over at D3 general - it wasn't a particularly zealous post more of a 'if you are looking for other options you might like to consider'.

Not only did I find PoE but the thread linked me to the inestimable TotalBiscuit/Cynical Brit beta review and I then watched the Shadow preview. Absolutely loved his laid back yet very broad coverage with a smattering of analysis thrown in. I have him subscribed as well so, jackpot!
I wonder if there will be cake?

I RMAH'd all my chars. Maybe i'll try to game again in a year or so, until then, PoE is the way to go.

It is by will alone that I set my mind in motion
The more I played Diablo 3, the more I sank into a deep sadness. Things like the Butcher being reduced to a WoW abomination, with the little lore book after him to rub it in, all the ridiculous dialogue/nonsensical story, the boring ass items, RMAH, I couldn't take it anymore. I fell to my knees and looked up at the sky to ask God how he could allow such a terrible thing to happen to Diablo? Was he not the child of his children? Doesn't that make him his grandchild? I spent hours fantasizing about what D3 should have been, the days grew short and the warmth of the sun had all but faded from my memory. Then, one day, on a zombie-like half hopeful trek through the D3 forums, I was presented a link. I'm convinced that post was made by God himself, showing me how and why he could allow this to happen to my dear Diablo. It brought me to this site, and gave me the game of my fantasies, and more. R.I.P. Diablo, you were loved and will always be remembered as a martyr for the greater good. If not for his sacrifice, evil would have prevailed, the great blizzard would cover our path, and we would be forever doomed to serve the lords of Oriath through our teeth, under pain of death.
Ahahah looks like I'm not the only one switching from D3 to PoE!! Game is downloading right now can't wait to try it out. See you online!

Oh don't get me started on the Butcher. Remember how awesome he was in D1. You were enjoying yourself exploring then upon opening a door: "Ahh, fresh meat!"... Uh oh!

All of these cheesy over-sized WoW bosses are boring. Also the Skeleton King's lines sound like a bad guy from Power Rangers.

I like bosses and mini-bosses to be a size small enough that they can logically traverse their own dungeon.

Still the most important thing is game-play. Graphics are a plus, but game-play is where it's at. I do like the PoE about page line "Path of Exile immerses the player in a gritty and realistic art style that goes against the current industry trend of cartoony RPGs.".
I learned about this game from angry Diablo fans in the Diablo forums, so Diablo 3 did give me something good, a finger pointing over to this game.

I actually got banned from the D3 forums today for posting the truth, that D3 is nothing more than a Wall Street game designed to force you spend more real money to win.

So here I am, biding my time in the forums while I download this game. I am very excited to try it. It looks exactly like what I wanted from D3, but didn't get.

The Dev's diary post on why they don't have in game gold is exactly why D3 is sinking fast.
just like many of you i switched from diablo 3. I am playing the beta and loving it 100% more that D3
Same here, DL'ing the patches now. Id already tried PoE on the open betas and was reluctant to invest right now due to the character wipes. Itll still make me sad though, I just wished we could keep the items, even without the skills gems :(.

D3 isnt a bad game; in fact, the combat "feel" itself is MUCH better than PoE's right now (or the PoE open betas I played), and the increased inventory size. But thats about the only meaningful things D3 has better than PoE. PoE has a tremendous amount of depth, and generally, thats what truly matters if you are planning to stick around for the long run. I have almost 200 hours in D3 and I dont cry the money I spent.

GGG, you have my support and you deserve it 200% :). And if you are able to polish the combat feel - there are many threads commenting on it so I wont go into the details, a lot of forum'ers already did it much better - but I say again GGG, I "feel" that if you get that right nothing will stop PoE from being a thunderous success and something that MAY influence the way the industry works forever - LoL style. Not that I like LoL - DotA fan here :) - but the fact is it IS changing the industry's business model.

You will get there GGG: Just keep up the great work. Now, off to Wraeclast.
