Why did you choose to support?

You.. didn't play diablo 2?
What..
When I stopped playing Diablo I, my opinion of the genre had become "Click on stuff - drink a potion - click on more stuff." So I wasn't exactly excited about a whole new world with new things to click on.

I'm actually going to be playing Diablo II with some friends soon. We'll see how it goes!

Well, the stronger your character gets in D2, the more you move away from potions.
You become very self-sustaining.

It's one of the best games I've played, you're in for a treat. :)
''Stand amongst the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters.
The silence is your answer.''

IGN: Vaeralyse
Being a old Diablo 1 and 2 fan (more so Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 minus expansion than what D2 moprhped into post expansion) I have been looking for something for some years now.

Titan quest was the closest some years ago. Lacking
in online modes though so it lacked long term feet.

Torchlight: quite close but no cigar really, too cartoonish for my tastes plus way too easy , as if designed for children.

Diablo 3 comes along. I watch videos as people
release them on Youtube, and other channels.

I realize I'm not real happy with what I see, to say
the least.

Then I get my mitts on the D3 open beta some weeks ago.
Play it to death during that time.
While I enjoy the gameplay feel of the game, it is
lacking in key areas, I also felt the stench of
'streamlined' game for console use all over the place.

I find out my character names , no matter what I pick, are not displayed in game, but rather my Battletag.
I find out that Blizzard has no intention of changing this and expects their drones to 'deal ' with it. (that is re-phraze of a blue post recently).
I find out during beta there is not even a/ignore function in chat so a user can deal with spammers, of which there were plenty when I played the open beta.

Long story short. I had paid 15 bucks for a
closed key for this game after the initial open beta
they had here a month or two ago. I then later upgraded
that to Bronze pack. Why? Because I saw real value here
and that THIS GAME was more in spirit with the things
I loved about Diablo 1 and 2 than Blizzards Diablo 3.

Is it there yet? NO. Not in any way. There is potential
to be there and to be more as time goes on.

I don't see the potential for D3. It will be a static
turd for years to come as Blizzard moves slowly.

I'd rather spend the money here where I see the
potential.
THings like weak animations can be fixed over time, etc.

Basically I'm impressed with his game and pissed off
enough at Blizzard/Activision to toss money at
outfits like this in hopes of getting the game I want that is not poisoned by the console poison that
is infecting so many old PC games.

I also tossed money at some kickstarter game projects recently. Notably, Grim Dawn. ANother spin on what D3 should have been.

Yes, I give money to people because Blizzard lets me down. GO figure.
Actually it is Activision now but that is another long ramble....

I originally started playing just to pass the time for D3 a few days ago. Needless to say, I loved it.
Because I saw a recommendation on Eurogamer. Never heard of it before that (amazingly). Played an hour or so of the open stress test and felt that it deserves it times 10.

I've already preordered d3 and torchlight 2, I think they will all prosper in their own right. Such a popular genre.

Well impressed with this game though!
Because.. Why not? I already had closed beta access, so the key was a non-issue for me. That's also why I'm giving it away. It's a good, solid game that deserves the support. Plus, a kiwi pet is awesome.

I just want to say the layout of your post makes it look like a poem. I like that.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
If I could afford to give more than the ten I did, I'd happily do so. I love this game enough that although I have a free copy of Diablo 3 coming to me through WoW's annual pass, I'm skipping it for Path.

Guild Wars was my favorite game until NCSoft made it Pay2Win. To see it and Diablo 2, a game that was my addiction before Guild Wars, mixed and blended into a fantastic world that I have a hard time stopping myself playing is testament to my dedication.

I greatly look forward to where this already amazing game goes.

Sorry what?? Since when did that happen? And what does GW have to do with POE?

I was going to say the same, having clocked over 2,500 hours on Gw1 and not once feeling it was pay-to-win...but that's a different topic for a different thread.

I chose to support after trying out a bomber-skeleton-spamming witch and a bow-toting ranger that stacks elemental damage during this stress test weekend. Really enjoyed the play styles of both. Haven't had that much fun in an ARPG since I played the Uber Underlord mod for Titan Quest: Immortal throne.

The flasks, the currency system, and the marvelous skill tree are what got me interested initially. The awesome variety of the skill gems is what hooked me.

I also plan to increase my contribution once my next check comes in. Awesome game, so far. Can't wait to see more. :)
Reimur: even though you're wrong, why would you have faith in diamond supporters? you're talking about a group of people that are so autistic that they would spend 1000 dollars on pixels. we're almost the most idiotic group of people in this community. second to hardcore players.
