Why did you choose to support?
I was a Beta member long since when GGG finally relented and did what so many people had asked them to do: Accept donations.
Since last year, forum members, especially Beta testers, begged GGG to take their money to support the development of the game. So, when it finally became an option, I threw my hundred bucks into the pot. Why? Because I believe in GGG and their vision for PoE. Why a Silver Supporter package? Well, Pu'ipu, my li'l Silver Kiwi, is kinda cute. I'll be pulling down some sweet swag when GGG is ready to ship it. But, most of all, it was for the keys. I love giving away keys, because there is magic in making a stranger happy. I'd do it more often, if I could afford to. I'm still very strongly considering pulling a Charan, and adding to my Kiwi collection, at least a Bronze, since I've spent the better part of my Cash-Shop credits on extra stash tabs, and want to have some cred ready when the cosmetic items roll out. And so I can make another stranger happy. =^[.]^= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/ whiskers =@[.]@= boggled / =>[.]<= annoyed or angry / ='[.]'= concerned / =0[.]o= confuzzled / =-[.]-= sad or sleepy / =*[.]*= dazzled / =^[.]~= wink / =~[.]^= naughty wink / =9[.]9= rolleyes #FourYearLie Last edited by Raycheetah#7060 on May 13, 2012, 12:08:15 AM

I chose to support because GGG is an upcoming company that has uncorrupted views of how game development and management should be done.
Much of the online Game development is brought in by generic cookie cutter MMO's with P2W based Cash shops, or cash shop essentials to live. Allods, Perfume. Rune Of Magic, Enchantment items. Even Guild wars is practically P2W now, won't be surpised if GW2 follows suite, as you can buy all your skills. I could go on.. with numerous examples, Fact is most of these games are shallow, they don't have the balls to try making the game good, this is why in my opinion most game companies can't have a F2P game, and could make better quality games under a P2P model. Companies that get the game and the F2P model right, Thrive, Cosementic based cash shops, (League of Legends for example, though they do have acceleration items which GGG is against which I agree, specially for how this game is ladder based) One of the big upcoming games that is saying to follow this model is Planetside 2, F2P (surprising given PS1), and all cosemetic, skins etc. Wonderful idea, may be a bit too hardcore of an atmosphere for F2P gamers but hey, thats what cannon fodder is for. I supported GGG because they get it, they are producing a Much needed ARPG that should beable to meet and exceed market standard while offering fair gameplay to all budgets. You simply don't see this anymore. I'm still interested to see how TL2 will work out, I wasn't the biggest fan of TL1 given the repetition of the dungeons, but the concept was good, specially when you got modding it. | |
I had a key and had already give out to keys to friends. I decided to contribute for a few reason.
1. I put more hours into the beta then I've put into many games that I played $50 for. 2. GGG has something special here. I wanted to do my part to help them continue their efforts to make this a great game. |

Admittedly, I paid the $10 to get a beta key, I honestly don't care about any other perks. I'd rather pay money up front just to play a game, than to pay money for extra features. Maybe that's weird? I don't know, its just me.
Although I no longer play the game, I don't regret supporting GGG, despite how little my personal contribution is. I have nothing against paying to play a game. Companies provide a service, it is their right to receive compensation for it. IGN: Sonalia, Arkimond

I wanted to support the game after my friends and I played it and were blown away.
Easily some of the most fun we've had in an online game in a long time. I really hope this game does well. On top of that, I really like the fact it is a small studio. I've really had it with big publishers cranking out games for nothing but as much money as possible. A lot of design decisions terrible in the process. I haven't really seen that here. Either way, the game captured everything I saw lacking in Diablo 3. I supported PoE because the game is cool and being released for free. The free weekend gave me enough faith to hand over some cash. If they were charging for the full game I would have bought it.

I am a New Zealander and just want to support a game company from here. I haven't even played the game yet, don't even know if it will run on my PC, but what the hey the with the amount of other indie titles I have pre purchased thought I should support one from my own shores.
Fingers crossed that it runs. Wish the internet was a little faster in the hotel in Vietnam that I am in. Last edited by oo_rasputin_oo#0904 on May 13, 2012, 11:55:51 AM

I haven't played an action rpg game since Diablo I, and by the end of my playtime with that my opinion of the genre had been somewhat soured. So I didn't bother with Diablo II, and I felt like I wouldn't bother with Diablo III.
Then, one of my favourite YouTube casters started a series playing Path of Exile. It just drew me in, the style, the mechanics, just everything - I just had to play it. I've only purchased the basic pack for access to a key. Honestly, that's all I'm going to stick with for now until I see what else might be added to the cash shop. If I had some extra money to spend I'd love to upgrade and give some keys to my friends, but alas I don't - though I did play with some of them this weekend. So yeah, GGG keep on keeping on, whatever you're doing is working. Last edited by izzalion#4252 on May 13, 2012, 12:02:04 PM

"When I stopped playing Diablo I, my opinion of the genre had become "Click on stuff - drink a potion - click on more stuff." So I wasn't exactly excited about a whole new world with new things to click on. I'm actually going to be playing Diablo II with some friends soon. We'll see how it goes! |
