People complaining about money in D3 is a bit different tho, sure you might end up spending more money on PoE if you want, but in D3 you can flat out buy power which is something I'm very strongly against.

I think that's a little presumptuous, don't you? People "complaining" quite possibly just don't agree that making an "ugly" game to begin with and hoping people buy aesthetic upgrades is a good plan. That isn't an unquestionable truth or anything, after all.

TF2, for instance, looked great before hats came along, but people still bought hats. The initial state need not be ugly for customisation to have value, it just needs to not be customised.

Yeah, I pointed out the differences between rmah and ggg's microtransactions, of course. But I stipulated that the heart of the matter beats the same: you're using real cash to augment your gaming experience.

That's just the nature of the beast. And I clearly chose to use that cash to augment not my gaming prowess but instead the far, far more important things like prettier clothes and cooler explosions. (I wanted to use like, ten exclamation marks after that sentence. It was very Michael Bay in feel.)

Gus: yeah, a bit. I like to use hyperbole against general groups. They tend not to get too upset over it. My patience has worn a little thin lately, though, and there is a little more...bite in what I've been saying. I'm sure I'll get over it. Still, when someone in Global Chat says 'why are the models so ugly!?' I just want to scream and hope they won't be around for much longer.

I should quit GC but like most other addictions, just when you think all is lost, someone says something funny or cool and you're right back into it...

I don't think I'll spend very much to make my characters look better. Alternate animations and spell effects could pique my interest. I always thought that having pets in these games was stupid, but since I got my kiwi I've become very attached to it (I get upset when he gets stuck in the environment). I agree, I'm actually in love with every aspect of PoE's aesthetics.

Look, I just wanted to take the other side of the fence for once. I fear becoming a fanboy, or at least perceived as one, and wanted to state what happens to be my biggest concern with the game at this point, well, not the game, but the future of the game as a product, if you will.

The second concern is definitely more personal -- the worry that GGG won't produce enough cash shop items that I like, thus leaving me with a craptonne of credits and the option to buy, like, 300 stash tabs.

...Specialised leagues won't be cheap, of course. Could probably blow a chunk of my change on a few of those. Not really what I'm into, though.
