This game ruined Diablo 3 for me...

My point was permanency of stats against versatilty. there is my analogy with paper RPG...
not his systematisation. or whatever...

the sense of creating and maturing your character over than just doing and using whatever skills your class can have.
EG access to all the magic user's spell list in ADD is a full achievement, but this not because you reach level 18 and access to the 9th spell level which give you the spells in your books.

But if you think they can survive long term on optional monetary support for pure vanity items you are dreaming. Somewhere down the line they will have to add probably controversial stuff to the cash shop to stay afloat.

That's a double-edged sword, though - sure, some people might spend more cash if they started selling P2W stuff. On the other hand, a lot of people will stop spending money (and playing the game) altogether. :)

Really? And here I thought the GGG devs were gamers just like me, who were trying to create a fun, balanced game, monetary support optional.

Now that you have revealed their dirty plot, I will have to turn away from their dark chicanery and return to the light that is Blizzivision, who would never sell me a game, then also charge me to use an RMAH.

Oh, wait.

I think I got that all turned around.

At least with PoE, I know things are still improving all the time. D3 is pretty much WYSISWYG, systems-wise until they get around to selling you more expansions.

I think my wife's Beta account needs to go Silver, now, too. =^[.]^=
Did I say GGG was evil? No I acknowledged the fact that by definition since they are not selling the game out of a box they have to input systems which makes spending money on their game attractive or they will go under. The cold hard truths of reality suck don't they?

D3 included a RMAH because (surprise surprise) players pay real money to each other (through things like eBay) already and Blizzard wanted to at least legitimize it. Since the not so real money auction house uses GOLD which appears in plentiful supply (the currency system in PoE was designed to be unwieldy IMO) using the RMAH is just a way to bypass eBay. Only a small fraction of players are likely to use it. Will blizzard be happy if EVERYONE uses it? Of course. Is it absolutely required to keep the game afloat? Nope. For the RMAH it's like a bonus monetary income the developers threw in, for PoE the cash shop is by deinition their main source of cash.

If I had the money to become a supporter of GGG I would. But after I pay rent this month I will have literally $3in the bank. Same for next month, and the month after that. Living on your own in college is like that.

Edit: If D3 has half the following D2 has there's going to be patch support for the next decade minimum. And WYSIWYG will not be the truth. You're judging an entire game on a beta that is like 10% of game content and is ONLY the tutorial.

Funny thing: Clerics in DnD have historically had full access to all divine spells. Weird huh? I always wondered why they were so popular then I actually looked at their spell list.

Not sure if that holds true for ADD. But damn that game was overly complicated. DnD 3.5 probably had the most flexible rules, but DnD 4.0 has definitely been the most straightforward and easy to get into.

The thing about D3 is that (the devs have stated) they want the big character progressing customization to come from kitting yourself out with items you like.

ADD class was completely unbalanced but was damn fun! hence classes was so specialized but you'd can't get rid of cleric or thieves in some modules...

whatever i understand the characterization by itemization, but it's my right to prefer another things for my characters personalization...

Elric is not only Stormbringer...

The biggest error some people think is that removing skill points fix anything with balance.
Reason why d3 skills are balanced and you will use more skills are:
1. resource management, you need 1 skill to generate resource, and 1 and more that uses it
2. long cool downs so you can't spam skill that does highest dmg, but need to use somthing else
3. all skills have weapon dmg % increase, so they are easyle balanced

This 3 reason are why you use more skills, and why every skill is useful. It's not because of removing skill points and never will be.

Someone said meaningful choices in d3, and that is corect, but adding skill points does not remove that at all, it only makes possible for people that dont like min/max to make less meaningful choices that will be less viable, but still posible to play.

This year will be alpha, and maybe beta, but release 100% will not be this year.

Did you just completely skip Autocthons posts?
It's not this game who ruined Diablo 3... It's Diablo 3 itself...
