This game ruined Diablo 3 for me...

Agreed. There are aspects of both games that annoy me and aspects of both that I really like. In an odd way I think they actually compliment each other extremely well.

Well just got finished playing a few hours of the Diablo 3 beta and here is my vs. comparison

Graphics- Clear winner Path of Exile, D3 graphics are embarassing.

Gameplay-Path of Exile, much more challenging and fun.

Loot- Path of Exile, D3 is same old boring loot while POE trys something differant.

Story- D3 , but who really cares to read all that gibberish anyways.

Content- D3 has more dungeons and gameplay but what POE offers is of definite higher quality.

Honestly a year ago I would have laughed if u told me this game was going to be better than D3. But it definitely is. Although POE is somewhat a sandbox style ARPG I think the community really needs to get behind GGG and hope this game will become a mainstream hit encouraging DLC and add ons to make this the D3 killer.

you're a real idiot
gameplay: IT'S like 1/4 of act 1 in normal difficulty
loot: this is pure opinion, but getting good stuff in PoE is hard as FUCK, which can be good or bad
Content: PoE is not giving us the full game either so we can't se lategame content, stupid point to argue about.

Both will be great games.

I have my fair share of concerns with D3, however, it's a blizzard game vs an indie game. Blizzard has so many resources. They're also different type of arpgs.

ps: Music is much better in PoE, I love PoE soundtracks. However we only have 1/4 of act 1 normal.

I feel somewhat the same way, but haven't played PoE yet.
The thing with Diablo is that you are not able to pick out how you are going to distribute your stat points or even make a specific build other than equipment/skills.

I will however, if I get into the PoE beta (might buy it if not), still continue to play Diablo 3 because of the real world trading market that has been built in.

To me, having played many MMO's over the last 10+ years, I am curious how a built-in real world trading market will evolve.

Other than that, to me so far Diablo 3 feels mostly like a "bash your keys until the mobs die" kinda game. I really like that PoE lets you do just a little more in regards of setting up your toon.
I despise the real money rmah dunno why anyone would like it, other than people who will spend tons of money.
Here is a list of features LIKED when D3 was first announced (a couple years ago) for the $60 that I would be paying for the release. I really though there were going to even BIGGER announcement to add to the complexity of the game. The big announcements were stripping the game for the "No Noob Left Behind" laws in the USA.

Removed from D3:

Runestones
Mystic Artisan
Talisman
Skill Points/Trees
Crafting scraps from white items (every item useful)
Companions Scrolls
Reforging Scrolls
ID Scrolls
Portal Scrolls
Traits
PvP at launch
50 Character limit cut to 10
Stash size at 5 tabs (Cut to 3 tabs and it was already too small before the slash, but you can always buy another copy of D3 for more space)
The slick easy to read skills UI (Now big ugly and clunky)
Training Books for Artisans

Did I miss anything? Oh ya RUNESTONES!!!
(There are a couple more that are missing, this is just from the top of my head. I'll edit when I remember them)

They've had ten years to brainstorm and around half of that to develop a third title in their incredibly successful series; what have they been doing all this time?

GGG has an awesome game that keeps getting interesting and complex. GGG still has some bumps with PoE. I feel that if I get behind GGG now, their NEXT game will become bigger and better. (As long as they never go into pay2win)

My main issue with Diablo 3 is that everything is dumbed down. However, the lack of costumization complaints are pretty bs for most of the players.

Let's compare it to PoE:

PoE: TONS OF COSTUMIZATION, everyone uses a couple OP builds.
Diablo 3: Not much costumization, everyone will use a couple OP builds.

It's just how it works. People like cookiecutter builds.

Then for the skills, you don't have to pick a skills from the you get to chose from for each keybind. You go to options -> gameplay -> exclusive off or something like that.

Apart from that I really dislike RMAH.

I understand the OP and for me it was "like" the same.

I started the game and my first char was the WITCH, i mean the female wizzard.
I missed the "put points and specialise" and the "think about what doing next".
Ofc its another system and thats fine but for me its to trivial.

So i just rushed and was only killing stuff, over and over, yes thats whats hack'n'slash is but...
...why right at lvl 1, right at the beginning of my carrier? No really dependant choices, just grind exp.

Whats wrong about doing important decisions?
This part totaly broke my "i want more power feeling".

The story dialogues where skipped by my kind partymembers.
Thanks ...

The artworks are great and fantastic but they are not diablo like. Its more like a great walt disney production with micky maus and goofy running around.
Ok its not that bad, but i want at least some realism and in 2012 this should be able for the new games.
We dont need comic style for our beloved diablo. Srsly.

Big bad logos and fanarts and if you log in the game you watch a cartoon. I don't get it why they did it this way but just noooo.

Party up is easy and too easy. The only chat i did was "lol easy" or "cmon". I mean i don't chat that much but. At least for pugs a bit "what i want to do" or "need for this and that some help".

Blizz has made D3 to a quicky and no-brainer.
One click and the game does everything for me.
So in the end, i do just hack'n'slash, thats whats the game is for but all the stuff around that what did make the previous games great is gone.
Making a game easier and cut stuff out doesn't make it better.

I think they don't even understand what diablo is...

One thing they forgot about is a timer for the toilet and a meal. srsly.

English is my third language, there will be bugs.
I agree with you OP along with many others who posted their opinions in this thread. I recently got into the D3 Beta and just didn't enjoy it. It wasn't that the game wasn't good necessarily, just that it was dumbed down to the point where I didn't understand where the fun was. The hardcore, grindy loot fest was trivialized, the graphics completely destroy the gritty nature D2 had, and there is absolutely no customization. Skills are chosen for you and it's simply too basic.

Path of Exile does everything right. The hardcore nature of the genre is preserved, new mechanics are introduce to fix the problems associated with D2, and, oh yeah, PVP ON LAUNCH! I don't understand how Blizzard wasn't able to get that after 10 years of making the game.

I now look forward to PoE a million times more than D3 due to the hardcore nature of the game. (And this is coming from someone who does not consider myself a hardcore gamer by any means).
I though D3 was a bit off the tracks back when the first video/SS's came out. Did it ruin D3 for me? No, just made me look at it carefully.

I though PoE looked and played quite like D2. Did it make me scream IT IS THE BEST AND THATS IT? No, there is much work to be done yet.

I tested D3 this weekend and I found it a good game. It is Diablo, but just lacks much of the content that made the previous titles great. Lets see what the retail version has to offer

Skills are not chosen for you any more than they are in PoE. Only in D3 all the classes doesn't end up using the same couple of skills.

Look at the D3 skill system as just having a huge amount of skill gems in your inventory, and you pick the ones you want to use to your limited slots.
