"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package." - Fix inside!

I just re downloaded poe (had it working on xp, i now have win7)

it seems the patcher won't download any data, so i can't do anything.

i changed all the permissions, so i run the program as admin.

The "checking resources" bar just continues in a loop forever, nothing changes, doesn't update on how much to download etc.

I have tried with net security on and off, changed permissions in them,

So, I am just stuck, don't know what to do.

Any help would be grateful,

Thanks.

seems i have come to the conclusion, that i have an "imcompatable program".

would it help to run something like cccleaner?

......

well, didn't do anything different, but it seems the installer is working for me now, all that happened, was i had a guy from my net company fiddle with my connection server side, and it seems to be working now, so weird...

cos i had all the permissions allowed etc etc my side with the net security and firewalls.

to be honest, i think i installer got "stuck" and didnt update but continued to download the data if u know what i mean, very very misleading and confusing, but ok in the end.

now downloading properly...

This video shows how to install .msi files in windows 7 and got me up and running after failing on my own.

Been playing the game a couple of days now thanks to this video, hopefully it helps anyone else that's never dealt with this type of file before.

well i had same issue,

Windows 7 x64, the previous mentioned did not fix it, but what did was.

you need to right click the PathOfExileInstaller.msi file.
And then choose troubleshoot compatibly,it will look for file errors and fix them. told me skip version check, pushed start the program... and worked :P

THIS!

This fixed it for me.

Thank you very much! I had created .BAT files and everything.

There was no need!
Found a way to install, right click, go to properties, security, change all stats for all users to full access, and it will work. It seems even if your admin, your profile might not be flagged, so flag it

Rawr!
This is what I did to get it working on my Win Vista 32-bit

Got Hidden Admin Running via this link --

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-windows-vista/

Then logged into the Admin account.

Then followed the steps off of this site ---

http://www.windowsanswers.net/articles/windows-installer-fixes

When I got to the last step, and rebooted I logged back into the Admin account, and ran the msi install file and that got the patch client installed. Then put my system back into normal start-up and installed the game. Turned off Admin account.

Hope this helps!
Have the problem on Windows XP.

Any possible fix here?
Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Users\kkrenek\AppData\Local\Temp\WER53A8.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
C:\Users\kkrenek\AppData\Local\Temp\WER68CF.tmp.appcompat.txt
C:\Users\kkrenek\AppData\Local\Temp\WER68EF.tmp.mdmp

Help plz

Worked like magic, thank you!
I used the help of another forum.
..........................................

"I suggest you try to install the msi file in Safe Mode to verify Whether it is a Windows Installer issue or not.

Windows Installer will not work under Safe Mode by default. To make Windows Installer work under safe mode, you need to create a registry entry for every type of safe mode you are logged in to.

1. Start the computer in Safe Mode.
2. Click Start, type CMD and press Enter.
3. Please Run the Following these commands by one.

REG ADD "HKLM \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ SafeBoot \ Minimal \ MSIServer" / VE / T REG_SZ / F / D "Service"

next

net start msiserver

4. Then, Windows Installer will be started.
4.Try to install the msi file.

and made the final steps from the YT movie by using the CMD panel
