Anyone with any degree of common sense would take the 30s to make sure they knew what a Vaal orb did first. Thus, while feeling a bit crappy, the result would have been expected. Instead of admitting you acted rashly, and accept your fate, you insist on blaming other people for your own obvious mistake. Vaal orbs are fine, and great fun as they are. Quit crying already. None of what you guys are saying justifies having vaal orbs in the game. It is pretty weird that we have to go to some shady websight to find this information. It'd be ok if this information was listed in the game manual, ingame or on the official websight not on a websight that is not affiliated with Grinding Gear Games at all as they even write there themselves. I botched my fair share of items and gems, but when the Vaal orb works, you get the addiction to try it every time on every item you can spare. OP please use Vaal orbs only if you have at least another same item/skill gem to replace the one that might get broken, as even doing nothing but making it expensive to colour/relevel would be a loss that you might not feel that you deserve. We can't be with the OP on this one because the Vaal orbs still are not only an addictive gambling mechanic, but also one of the few ways that you can be penalised for not being careful and not paying enough attention... I'm in for giving a few new bonuses to the Vaal orb, but only if it could also receive the chance to botch one of item properties, the chance to win should be equal to that of lose, and both should equal or only marginal surpass that of nothing happening... PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"... Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days... If "modifies your item UNPREDICTABLY" description ON THE VAAL ORB ITSELF (it's in-game, isn't it?) is not enough for you (to comprehend) - well... You shouldn't whine about visiting "3rd party site" then. Or you know... Use google to end up HERE, at official forum, where you can witness all the outcomes in just couple of threads (as well as "corrupting to rare from unique" result) P.S. keep sympathizing to such people and encourage such behaviour and mindset.
