That is just a wild guess, not backup up by any evidence other than your opinion of this feature. As you can see, other people like it, so maybe they support the game because of such features. Only GGG can make educated guesses as to what pays off and what doesn't. And believe me, they get that right: They grew from 3 people to 90, so it seems they correctly predict the average tastes+desires of their customers.

So, you really have to get over it. You bricked an expensive item, you will not get it back and other people wouldn't have done that accidentally. You should blame yourself and stop lashing out at GGG and people who disagree with you. Decide if you want to continue playing or not, but ranting here will not help you in any way and will just open you up to further ridicule.

The vaal orb is TOO unpredictable and sets itself in a category unlike any other game. It is too destructive. You and you cohort of bravado's that have posted on this thread have never bricked an item due to a lame ass vaal orb that has costed GGG an untold amount of money. Not eve Everquest has items in game that will ruin months worth of someones time add to that, in general. this game's devs are the most incompetent I have ever seen i 30 years of gaming. Devs- you're really excellent at nerfing. Lets put it to the test. Do you ike making money from your game? Do you ike it when your destructive vaal orbs make someone lose months of time? You are only talking about the Destructive end of the results over and over... Yet you say nothing about when it hits you the jackpot and increases the items value by 10+ fold! THATS why vaal orbs are the way the are in the first place and exactly why an item that hits the jackpot becomes such an expensive item in the first place. What you basically want is the jackpot to be there without the chance of losing the item completely which isn't gonna happen and even if it would it would only make items with those crazy corruptions WAY less valuable because it takes all the risk out of the reward.

Don't Vaal items you're not willing to lose simple as that. This isn't the incompetence of the Devs this is the incompetence of YOU by using an item that can potentially increase the value of an item exponentially and you got the opposite results instead which is the entire point of the item itself. You wanted to make your item into something way more valuable but at the price of possibly losing it and you lost. Man up and take it like everyone else who has bricked an item. Or stop being greedy and dont use the things. The choice is yours and yours alone. YOU choose to click the orb and use it on your expensive item and then complain because you didn't like the results of your gamble. So dont gamble anymore pretty simple.

Wow, you used an item without knowing what it does when all of the information is out there that you can easily google?

That doesnt mean there needs to be a change with the item, it means you need to make a change with how you make decisions.

Here is a fact, if you use a vaal orb on an item you worked months to acquire, you are one of two things, brave or stupid. In most cases its the stupid.

Here is another fact, if you are stupid there is no problem with the game feature you used, its not unbalanced, destructive or makes people quit.

Every argument made so far in the defense of OPs' opinion is just various flavors of entitlement on behalf of people who act without thinking. I have been playing the game for almost two years now and in that time I have seen a LOT of people use vaal orbs in chat, not one of them declared they would quit the game after they got a shit result. I have bricked tons of expensive items in my time playing as well, none of which were ones I could not afford to lose.

The more I think of the indignant rage OP had towards this situation as well as his lack of regard for game features the more I am inclined to believe he purchased the disfavor with real money from an external site and used a vaal orb on it like an idiot thinking it would make it even better. I highly doubt anyone who plays long enough to earn the currency necessary to buy one and six link it would make that mistake.

What we do need nerfed in the game is the amount of people who act without thought, blame others/the system for their own mistakes and think that others should think for them so they can't make the mistakes in the first place.

Well said. And actually the point you made about him buying his weapon RMT makes a lot of sense. Anyone whos put that much time into the game to aquire an item that valuable should know what a Vaal Orb does. Not only that but im pretty sure you would look it up even if somehow you didnt know.

So basically what weve got here is someone crying about losing their money because they failed to understand game mechanics because they decided to cheat instead of learning the game. Well Played GGG, now I like Vaal orbs even more, lol.

Edit: and looking at what you have for sale in your public tabs... how the fuck did you afford a 6L disfavor?! No really, I'm asking. If you had a disfavor, and enough currency to 6L it (did you Vorici or just get incredibly lucky?), how exactly did you do that without selling anything?

Edit edit: And the typical disfavor in standard is 6 ex, with the top end rolls around 13 as you paid. So you knew enough to know that you should "farm" the extra 6-7 exalts to get the best one... You played the game long enough to do that *and* farm enough fuses to 6L it and still didn't know this could happen?!

Did you not drop a handful of vaal orbs in that time and use them? What... what the hell? The more I think about it, the more your situation doesn't make a lick of sense, OP.

Vaal orbs are probably the best risk/reward mechanic in the game. Honestly, I give GGG a lot of shit for abusing the RNG balance, but at least this is a known gamble.

If this thread leads to op being banned, it will be one of the best Christmas presents ever.
