Nerf Vaal orbs

Instead of nerfing them i would buff them, its pretty much the only way to handle (in a tiny way) the inflation of standard.

The thing is OP if you had used a vaal orb on your item and it give a very rare and crazy result like +1 gems on a chest or +1 Curse on an ammy we would be reading a completely different thread here...
The thread would be about how you just got rich in POE by using one orb.

Its called risk vs reward for a reason. In order to reap the rewards you must first take the risk. And when you do take the risk with vaal orbs you do so knowing full and well the chances are great you will get nothing or worse from taking that risk. Thats why items with insanely rare corruptions are so expensive. Someone took a gamble on an already expensive item and hit the lottery on the vaal orb. Increasing its value by upwards of 10+ times in some cases.

Vaal Orbs are one of the most interesting orbs in the game. They can make or break you litteraly.
Say you Vaal your 6L Shavs... And it hits +1 gems... You just made somewhere in the ballpark of 160-200 Exalted. (Standard ofcourse) Now if this is a LEGACY Shavs which is already 100+ Exalted.. And you Vaal it and hit +1 gems. Well i dont even know if you can fit that amount of exalted in a single trade window. THATS the point of Vaaling items. You take a risk in destroying the item, It doing nothing, Changes sockets to white, or Giving the item and new implicit only obtainable through corruptions. If you hit the last one you won. If you hit the first one you lost. The other 2 are just filler IMO. But every time you use a vaal orb you have a 1 in 4 chance at any one of those 4 things happening.

Theres no way they could nerf Vaal Orbs other than their drop rate which IMO is already WAY too low as it is with so many things that you can use vaal orbs on alongside the fact you MUST use vaal orbs on Red Maps in order you get completion on the atlas as well use vaal orbs on other maps with multiple boss's in order you farm Atziri frags. Vaal Orbs are already scarce as it is if anything they need to become more common.

Vaal Orbs do not need a nerf players need to take more responsibility. If you dont want to risk your expensive items dont use a vaal orb on it. If you want to risk your expensive item at a chance of making it insanely rare and unique.. Use that vaal orb on it knowing beforehand you might end up losing your item. And if you do realize YOU made the choice.

How did you manage to accumulate the currency to buy it in the first place, without knowing a simple thing like what Vaal orbs can do?

Thats how I feel, I mean typing in "vaal orb" in google is hard right?! If it was me the moment I saw the tooltip for "vaal orb" which stats "unpredictably" I would of google searched that shit....sounds like he just used the orb with no knowledge of what it does and is throwing a tantrum cause he bricked his item...the irony is 1 min of research would of prevented this whole debacle!

Funnily enough the overwhelming response is that we all love Vaal orbs, bricking expensive items is actually fun, simply because there is a slim chance it can be made better.

I guess what you really mean is, Anyone reading this doesn't care about Vaal orbs being in the game because we are not stupid enough to use items without knowing what they can do, and subsequently complain about the results.

From GGG Business standpoint is what I am targeting here. Vaal orbs cost GGG income.

Yes there is. A vaal orb could be nerfed in such a way that the only thing they do is:

1. Add a stat
2. no change
3. Remove a stat

the current vaal orbs having the 4th option to totally change an item is too destructive and results in people quitting the game.

Like I said with my item I was willing to lose any one stat when I took the chance. I didn't know it could turn the item into complete junk. And now GGG loses my money. There are likely many more people that have also quit because of this.

Vaal orbs don't remove a stat, they never have. That's on you for going in with incorrect expectations.


Oh well, people quit for various reasons. I guess now we can add "not doing your homework" to the list of reasons.
