The forums aren't fun anymore

Hi there!

We greatly appreciate the feedback being provided, and those voicing their concerns to us within this thread. However please ensure to keep the information provided topical, and those regarding the new guidelines to match the dates of their implementation.

Our system does not allow us to place an account on probation without providing them with a reason as to why. Perq, please contact me at your earliest convenience. It appears that you were indeed provided with a detailed message containing the reasons of your probation. I am happy to help to clarify in any way that I can.

Have a great day in Wraeclast, Exiles!
✮ Please contact support@grindinggear.com if you need any help!
In that case you have my sincere apologies.

It's 'the thread that keeps giving'. Or taking. Or, something something.
It is ridiculous how this whole topic is handled. Just ridiculous.

The Sirus fight is a disgrace.
alright. first off, thank you ggg for trying to make your forums a better place. I see your mission, though I do not agree with your means. I agree with the statement from much earlier, that there needs to be a less moderated part of the forums. I would think off topic would be a great place for that.

people will always use the internet to feel power over others. this is the root of trolling and bullying online. though your noble goal is to cut out the offensiveness with scissors, that may not be the best approach. can your mods move threads to different topics? if not this is something you may wish to consider. and again make the off topic the toilet of your forums.

there should always be a spot for those who want to act that way can congregate (away from the noobs and easily insulted). where others may be less inclined to find them.

probating people makes them feel punished. punishment breeds resentment this is unhealthy for all parties involved. an adult should be able to rationalize punishment with action but some do not possess this skill. I will be honest, i am afraid to post here. I'm afraid writing this right now that I may be probated or that sections may be removed because my views don't necessarily line up with the views of whoever is moderating at this moment.

this is the first time I have dealt with forum moderation like this. I have been through the cess pit of battle.net (even original battle.net with d1/d2 and warcraft 2), I lived on eve online for more then 6 years. This is the first time I have been afraid to post on a game forum. I wish I had moved here when I started playing, maybe I could have seen another side.

Give me a place to post where I dont have to be afraid of probation or removal of what I say because it isnt 100% on topic or a little inflammatory.

I ask not for a place to be evil, but a place to be human

Why SHOULD we tolerate bullying or trolling here or anywhere else? Why should we tolerate people being total assholes for no other reason than to piss people off? Why should they need to create a spot where this is allowed?

And yes, an adult SHOULD be able to understand that their actions will have consequences and that if they break the rules, they will be punished. Why should people who "do not possess this skill" be tolerated? Those people need to grow up, not force everyone else to accept their childish behavior. Until someone actually DOES say, "No, you're NOT allowed to do that..." and enforces it in some way, many people never WILL learn that lesson.

And as for your post, no, I don't think you have any reason to be afraid of it being moderated at all. I might disagree with a lot of it, but I don't see anything in it that's against the rules. It's reasonably well-written, not any sort of personal attack, not even really complaining about any SPECIFIC moderator actions etc. It may be criticizing GGG a bit, but it is certainly doing so constructively. I'd say this is exactly the kind of thing that SHOULD be allowed.

Have you ever been to popular forum that simply consists of informative, well-thought out posts?

Answer: you haven't. Those forums are never popular. Or fun.

I have, not recently though.

My best experience were the Bioware forums around when Neverwinter Nights were at it's peak, it was all on subject and interesting posts, I miss those days.
Nothing to see here.

So victims of bullying are now the easily insulted?

I'm neither a noob nor easily insulted and would appreciate a forum away from toiletry and trollery.
