Ummm there is a decrease in build diversity with the listed changes not an increase...how are you so blind about everything?

Holy shit, the people crying that their Standard characters will be broken with the changes [Removed by Support]. You are literally playing a permanent trashcan league that is ridiculously unbalanced as it is with all the mirror and legacy gear, if you think they care about what happens there, think again

They should, and they surely do...or they wouldn't of created it in the first place...ya think?! lol

They clearly don't, they stated numerous of times that the core of the game is custom leagues and that they are balancing the game around them.

And how was I not civil? Did I offend you with a word "entitled"? But that's true, just read your OP. You think if you spend "your time" playing "their game" they can't change anything because it will alter "your" characters.

I simply expressed my concern, what they do with the concern is 100% up to them. I don't have to play their game, I choose to. So no I don't think i'm intitled because I am not demanding a change, I am giving feedback and thoughts on what I gather thus far. And if you would of read my post, you would of saw I have played WoW and if the final notes haven't swayed my mind I will be playing another game. And they have never shocked me with their patches notes, I never had to worry about them, they were always well within reason! So to say they make similar changes is false...I know this for sure, I played for 6 years!

Yep.

It's all right there all bold and red and flashy and hard to not see: "These are not patch notes."

They're also vague as fuck in most respects. We have no damn clue what is actually changing with regards to most of that list, and everything ON AND IMPLIED BY that list is subject to change anyways.

So yes, he's whining and baby crying. He might have perfectly legitimate concerns, but he's concerned about something that's not even tangibly measurable or predictable yet, and that's just a damn nuisance.

as much as I wish you were wrong on that, I cant help but see it the same way, I cant even fathom how they could contemplate being so destructive with the eb thing. Sure its just testing and maybe it will not make the final cut, but how could they even let the idea get past 2 minutes of conversation amongst themselves? Its careless, completely careless tinkering.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

Anyone else in the state of mind im in? Everyone seams so hyped for the expansion, but I am so depressed with the expansion I can't even bring myself to login and play. I signed up for the beta, but I honestly don't think I will join in if eligible, I was content on how the game was. Now things are going to change in a massive way judging by their first set of notes, and I realize things can change during the 8 weeks for the better, but I can't help but wounder if it's time to just toss in the cards.

I can deal with minor tree changes, having minor reductions to the nods, and having things shift to one place or another, or even combined to clear up the tree. I am also fine with ability nerf's and gear adjustments, one can expect that with any game. But they are planing on destroying/altering/removing key features/ and adjusting how certain things work in general. Things player's have counted on staying the same for their existing char's to remain playable, and I realize this game's primary focus is leagues, that much is very clear to me by now. But I honestly think GGG forgets not everyone likes to play the leagues, some players prefer to have their char's more permanent. Months, even years down the line they would like to hop back on said char in question and continue progressing with it. But the way they "balance" on-top of the sheer amount of times they adjust their game in a big way makes this not even feasible. I look at all these changes and I realize I will be lucky if one of my chars is even remotely playable by the time of launch and I can't help but feel I have put my cards on the wrong game. All that time spent, for them to not even function anymore, kinda kills my mood to go on.

I really enjoy this game, I just wish they would turn their focus off destroying/altering/removing key features/ and adjusting how certain things work in general. And focus more on raw content in general. Adding maps, abilities, gear, mini-expansions, larger expansions. This game could be amazing, but they spend way to much time on trying to keep it in check that I think they rob most of the fun that could become of just leaving things as is. Minor adjustments to abilities, gear, passive tree, and creatures is all that needs to be done to keep in check. That is all that ever needs to be done, and this is the way most game operate because it works. Once you get a game working and out of the initial beta phase, you build on it, not tear it down and build it new. The only time that should happen is if a game is failing. But this appears to be what they are doing, at least from what I gather. Maybe it was just wishful thinking, but I was hoping this time it would be different. I was hoping they would just add in Act4, toss in new abilities and supports, new maps, gear, a new end-game boss, and then do a little bit of gear adjustments, slight ability nerfs, slight tree adjustments and nod nerfs, and be done with it.

After reading the first batch of notes, which once again I know aren't final...I am almost in a state of shock, I never expected all of this. And not the good kind of shock either, I almost feel robbed of the game I once loved. I can't even stand to login, I guess maybe it's time to move on...anyone else feel this way? I realize it's not the same kind of game, but I played WoW for 6 years, and I think I might re-new my subscription, I was hoping this game was my go-to for years to come. But as it stands now that mindset has changed, never once have I ever felt this way when reading their patch or expansion notes. I knew that when I came back after a break, it didn't matter how long, weeks or even months, that I could jump right back in. A few things would be weak ability wise, some things would be stronger, maybe new features, and new content, but the core game was always going to be the same...It's clear I won't get that from this game, and that's something I demand in any game.

I agree 100% with you, mate.

Today i have read a post of unofficial notes, and what i see?

NERFS

NERFS

NERFS

This shitty habit of Mr Wilson of nerfing everything hasn't changed at all as i can see, although many players already have abandoned this game because of nerfs.

Nerf to auras: aura buff nodes removed. No more tanky anti elemental exiles. Less damage to elemental projectiles, specially on the piscator vigil builds. Less ES on buffed Discipline (thanks for this ggg -.-)

Nerf to coc builds: projectiles cannot shotgun anymore, so a lot less close range boss bashing (thanks for this, too).

Nerf to evasion chars: ondar guile thrown in a sea of s*it, so wew will need a ton more evasion than before to avoid projectiles on our FRAGILE exiles (on tp of that stupid % evasion value that decreases of 1% at every level up).

I think that, if there will not be adequate compensations to all these nerfs, i'll leave forever, and i'll stop advicing poe to my many friends gamers (i already don't do this so much as in the past, after the nerfs to block)

You didn't even see the full list of changes and skill tree not to mention didn't play the new version at all, yet you claim there is a decrease in build diversity and call others "blind". Such ignorance.

Oh common now!!! You and I both know that most if not all of the proposed changed will be implemented! Otherwise they wouldn't be on the table, so using the "it's not final" line seams kinda blah to me!

I am not, but your to stuck up in me being wrong about everything that you cant fathom the entire picture this overhaul presents.

Build diversity got a major boost with this x-pac, your just to butt-hurt about your particular combo being reshaped that you cant see it.

I even got that same combo on some character, but my butt does not hurt so i am comfortably watching all the data without anger or eye-lids on.

Peace,

/forever blind and clueless in your eyes.

(let's talk again 2 months after release? You might make me blush)
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes
OP:

Until the day that GGG shuts its doors and maybe just maintains the servers, your character in Standard will be changed every few months. One a year it may be changed a great deal. GGG let Standard exist, but that's about all you can expect. You will be able to login and have a character.

Some people may have thought the game would operate differently when 1.0 came out, but GGG has been very consistent.

If you don't like the meta changing or making new characters, this can be a tough game to play. If like me that excites you, times like this are the best part of this game.
