Do you spend half as much time on grammar and spelling as you do on your planned "builts"?

Protip: built is a verb, and in the context of PoE build is a noun.

The more you know.

Grammar police on a F2P game forum? Good luck with that.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Tears

That's the way most people usually react to change man. Welcome to human nature. Thank god that there experienced players in here that can see through the tears and recognize that all of these changes are extremely good.
You can keep on crying though
Anybody can become angry - that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way - that is not within everybody's power and is not easy.

What we want is for our old characters to work Chris. The extent of the "balance" changes is extremely disheartening. I am of course going to wait and see how things turn out but I am positive at least one of my characters is unsalvageable.

It is poor design decision to make such sweeping changes this long after release. The nature of the changes (removal of buff effect nodes, shotgunning, and EB) are especially jarring.

As others have said in this thread it seems like these changes were only implemented for changes sake and I am also of this view. None of the things listed in the balance notes were actually imbalanced with the possible exception of prolif.

This kind of changing for changes sake is not good for the game. It actively damages it.

I know you mean well and you really care about the community. You have personally answered my emails on several occasions (including once at 1am NZ time).

I am still excited for the new map layouts, bosses, lore, and item filters. But my excitement is overshadowed by dread that my beloved characters are going to be gutted.

I really hope some of the changes listed will be reversed, but I am not holding my breath. =(

Play temp leagues problem solved lol

Im actually half serious though I think thats why GGG feels comfortable making such sweeping changes. The basically assume everyone is starting fresh in the new leagues. It never been a secret that GGG builds around temp leagues
I dont see any any key!
I am new to PoE and still learning my way around things. I have always been the "give me the rules and I'll run with them" type both in gaming and irl. My plan is to get to know PoE basics as much as I can and when the update comes along I will figure out the best way to go forward and run with it.
Change is the dirty C word that many folks stress over. In the end I am grateful that PoE is free to play truly and my only sadness is that I am only finding PoE now.

I know they do. Which is a huge shame because a large segment, myself included, will never reroll.

I will keep playing as long as I enjoy my characters that work and I have the wealth amassed to respec and gear the characters that don't. Break all my characters at once or bankrupt me by forcing me to buy 100s of ex worth of new items every few patches and I am gone ;/

This is actually the philosophy here... no one is put in the dog house for exploiting clearly unintended results of changes. You can abuse them to the nines.

But the rules change. You have to deal with that too. You can't really have it both ways.
I hear you. I've been playing since domination. For the past five months I've run an EB/MoM character and for the first time I was truly satisfied with how it had turned out. I put a significant amount of time and effort into hunting down items with the specific combinations of affixes needed for my build. Developing my character over time, pushing it to its limit was what I enjoyed in PoE, I had fun and with the upcoming EB changes there's no reason left for me to play.

It's time to move on.

What function of the character you mentioned do you believe will be lost with these changes that you will be unable to make up for and why?

What is it here you define as bad for the game?

What exactly is it you define as imbalanced and what would you consider actually is imbalanced? In light of that how do you compare the current state of the game with the tentative changes we've heard about?

That's fair.
