I can relate to some of OP points. I definitely believe that any reasonable developer should avoid as much as possible situation where game changes can bee seen as taking away from players their achievements and nullify their effort. Unfortunately, some balancing changes and introduction of new content may require significant changes that will result in major game mechanics to be changed or even removed. I just would wish GGG would work hard to mitigate and limit such situations.
Some suggested it is time to either adapt or move on, the thing is I dont want to move on. I want to stick with PoE because I like the game, therefore, I expect GGG will make every effort to explain these big changes and provide appropriate compensation to ensure players' effort is not diminished. I also realized it will be good for my sanity to avoid forum topics dealing with beta info, often incomplete, because there is too much despair, hostility and futile arguments. I will refrain from reading such threads until I either get to CB or CB will progress a bit on test realms. I will be watching some streams, I'm looking for that, I just hope streamers will not go all "end is nigh" mode there as well! |

" If you read what I wrote I stated I knew the stuff wasn't patch notes, but things they are planning and has to go through testing yet! And how many do you think won't go through?! Lets be honest here, just because they say "these aren't final" we all know the odds are great that they are going to go through! And I didn't just base it off the notes they just released, I based it off what I have gathered from things shared on here, reddit, what I saw off the videos, post GGG has made in peoples forum post, and such. When you fall in love with a game, you don't just fall in love with the games "visuals" you fall in love with it at it's core. They are changing several things at the core, that's what has me shocked...this isn't a practice that is commonly used for a reason, when you change things at the core level you change the way the game feels and plays. That's my issue, I was fine with all there balance in the past...some things less than others, I was sad to see block get the hammer but I shrugged it off...these changes are much, much more severe! I never saw it coming is all, put me in a state of shock! I will wait and see what the final notes read...but not getting my hopes up, the changes wouldn't of been mentioned if the odds aren't in their favor of being implemented. [Removed by Support]. The game is free. You like it - you play it. Don't like it (anymore) - stop. You should learn how online games work. Almost any online game has these kind of updated at least once per year. Look at LoL, Dota, even WoW. If you want a static offline game that will stay the same forever there are plenty of games like that.
Oh and the core of the game is definitely the same. The skills function the same. The tree will be almost the same with exception of a few OP key nodes. come on guys, no need to get hostile with each other. People need to accept change but the op is still allowed to give an honest account of how he feels, logic and emotion dont always match up and the devs do have to consider long term players and their emotional reaction to changes even if ultimately theres changes that have to happen regardless, no good just pretending its a not a thing and having people pretend they dont feel the way they feel.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
