Why won't any of my other friends try Path of Exile? ఠ_ఠ

I don't know if this happens to anyone else, but when I try to explain PoE to my friends when they ask what I'm playing currently, I probably come off as one of those brain washed cult members trying to recruit potential suicide victims. I try to sell it as best I can and people end up straight up not believing it, since they don't believe the levels of enjoyment and hours I've put into it.

So my question to you all is; What is your elevator pitch to get your friends to try Path of Exile?

I show them the flashy end-game builds.

Most of the time they'll give PoE a go. All of them quit because they found the early game too tedious and boring. Probably my fault.
You make my ochinchin go doki doki.

My sales pitch to friends used to be ..... It's free

But with modern day media,I don't think there's much point throwing a sales pitch to friends when they can see for themselves what a game is all about.Probably best to just post them a few youtube links and twitch channels to look at.
I normally just use some combination of "diablo", "free", "skill forest", "pretty cool", and "no pants" loosely tied together with other wordy things that make up sentences.

But really the combination of it being free, on steam, and a relatively small download make it really easy for people to try, elevator pitch notwithstanding.

I show em D3..... nothing else is more effective

Grinding Gear & Gems
I tried to get many of my friends to play Path of Exile, but I eneded up here alone but the things is that I dont play much atm anyway.

Their problem with the game was... bad graphics, desynch and a very very slow start. These casual people dont want to replay acts 3 times i na row. They want to feel strong since the beginning and this is where Diablo 3 excell. You are a rambo since lvl 1 just crush and 1 shot everything. Also free to play games tends to attract bad community and "cheap" gamers overall.

I started to play the 1 motnh league with a friend of mine. We went through normal difficulty together in 2 days but he said he has absoutely no desire and motivation to do the same thing two times in a row and that he thinks hes character is not strong at lvl 35. Then he asked me what the game has to offer once he finished Merciless, I said maps only. When I explained to him what are maps, he said no thx. And this comes from a guy who played a lot of ARPG's back in the days with me.

And many of them also said, why are you asking me to try a free to play game when we just bought RoS for 40 $ ?
It is pretty much the same thing when Dota 2 came out and we were all playing League of Legends and one of our friend said, guys cmon lets try this. And we all were like hey I am nto gonna leave this game , I enjoy it and also I spent a lof of $ here for skins and champs and rune pages etc. Why would I switch ? No reason.

I think that doesn't work, cause then everything looks to freaking "easy" to them. My usual response is like, yeah it's easy when you've put in the time. That's why I'm hesitant to show and help a friend if they play Standard where I usually play, cause I'd just give em a Tabula and all the things they'd need. Maybe I'll do that and then start the Challenge Leagues, so they experience the real struggle but also fun of starting with nothing.

Yeah that's not of a big selling point to many these days, since most have moved off subscription or just B2P, and even so that doesn't end up being that much *steam sales cough cough*

I'm one of those gamers that gravitate to free games; MMORPG's (that are grindy as fuck and p2w also which made them bullshit) and never really paid for a game except the 3ish months I tried WoW:MoP. Didn't even wanna pay for d3 so I just used my brother's account which he borrowed off his friend, lol...

Its a game occupying a niche within an already niche genre, not surprisingly only 2 out of 10 doctors play PoE.
