THE Loot Filter should be -A- GAME OPTION, period.

" It isnt hard at all. The commands are very simple. As simple as /remaining etc. You just have to think logically a little about what you want and dont want. I made a very extensive one in about 30 mins that you are free to copy: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1236538 It includes pretty much everything youd want to see. I skipped on things i think 99% of people dont want to see - like quartz flasks. All you have to do if I include anything you dont want to see is to delete those from the script. The only other thing people might not want to see is certain gems for example where as i just include them all. The effort of specifying gems is more hassle than just letting them drop and not picking them up. I personally like to see gems and decide rather than specifying "quality gems and spell echo, CWDT, ele prolif, lmp, gmp, multistrike, clarity, grace - etc etc etc. Its not a big deal that occasionally a fire trap will drop and you just dont pick it up |

People who think a game's feature is poorly designed make you laugh?

As I've said in the other threads:
1. Read the damn announcement 2. WoW, the most popular MMO ever, handles this just fine GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

GGG raising the bar again!
Other ARPGs will have to add powerful loot filter scripting too if they hope to compete with PoE. |

It's like some kind of law. When more power you want to give to a tool, it will be less user friendly.
Have you seen Windows? It has great usability at the cost of having a lot less of flexibility. And that's ok. But filtering loot is inherently complex, so doing a UI (and mantaining it) won't be a easy task, and probably would have an oportunity cost asociated. Feel free to complain if something actually simple should be done by code (like /itemlevel). That's something that really sucks. PS: basic programming one day will be like reading. Everyone should know. Add a Forsaken Masters questline

" It's a bit different than that. They are giving the community tools to manage how their loot is filtered. Like many other companies give the tools to mod the game the way you like it. These tools don't come with easy to use and nice to look at UI, but with rather complicated tool that takes time to get into. If you're not going to put the time into it, you can always use the mods other players make and have made. I see this loot filter as similar tool. GGG gives you the tools to modify it and if you cba to learn it, use the filters made by others. It can be only seen as a benefit (Don't like it? Don't use it. At best it's great QoL addition.) and there's absolutely no reason to get upset over it. |
