I think it is time, to finally consider stability

Ya its really "laughable" that an indie studio's first game on a new engine wouldn't run as well or be as optimized as an EA game with the same tweaked engine they've been using for fkn years.

It is kinda laughable, when you plan your game for 10 years of longevity, but the engine you coded is already outdated in the first two years. It aint gonna get better. GGG will keep throwing particle effects into the game, to cover for the lackluster technical aspects of the engine. Incidentally particles is what slows down performance the most.

That's why I argue GGG shuld port PoE to a licensed engine asap. Let the 3D technicalities be done by professionals, focus on content instead.

Completely agree with this.

My view right now is that GGG is a company of absolutely amazing designers but not so much developers. The designs of just about everything, the art, the world, the skills, the gameplay, the builds, the uniques etc. are generally amazing.

The implementation of said designs however... Simply not of the same quality at all.

So outsourcing at least some of that, the engine, to a dependable third party would definitely be the right choice in my opinion.

It lets GGG focus on what they do best.

everything you post is negative or complaining

rest my case.
go play with Xav, if that's the impression you get from *not reading* my posts.
they are walls of text I'll give you that, but usually people establish opinions based on something.
something that's not "player X is saying player Y is always complaining - so that must be true".

and some may change opinions based on more up-to-date information.

finally, when discussing or responding to feedback, it is best if your own personal opinion of the person giving the feedback - whatever it may be - does not impact your response.
something too many people here seem to "forget".

TL:DR what case?
Don't forget to drink your milk 👌
Wholeheartedly agree!

I'd be the first to say my computer is OLD, but despite its long years of service, PoE is the only game in which I've experienced such mind-blowing performance issues, despite running high-end games such as Skyrim, Dragon Age etc'.

You can argue a new rig would lessen my annoyance with these issues, and you'd be right, but that won't fix the inherent problem as sure as a pain killer won't fix an amputated arm.

@Xavderion - you're heckling about as always i see, with nothing to objectively add to the Primary post or the discussion as a whole. Impressive.

There's nothing to discuss. GGG is either working on optimization or isn't. In both cases, PoE won't run well on Mr. Keys' toaster. So instead of making a bi-monthly optimization QQ thread, he should probably just upgrade his toaster, it would be the sensible thing to do. But then he couldn't garner attention on the forums anymore :P
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Customers don't understand "Indie" and "F2P" anymore. People is damn fedup. "The game is F2P" is not an excuse anymore ... all the upcoming online role playing games are going F2P because it is just the trend on the market. The whole industry has already realized that paying for a subscription is not working anymore.

And, who's fault is that an indie company delivered a product that could not scale properly ? Dude, this is not fault of any player budget. If the game was developed 6 years ago, it should work on 6 year old computers.

Players are customers and players are here to play the game and drop money to the screen if the game is good. Without players, the game won't exist, do you understand it ?

GGG can be as Indie as you want to imagine it to be, but Indie is not a word directly related to success. Indie can be also be related to FAILURE, POSING, WANNABE, TOYISM.

It is not the player's fault that a bad design decission is making the game impossible to scale thus sinking now, or at least this is the first time on two years I see 80% of my friend ist wiped with banners like "BB, UNINSTALLING"

If this is not enough to understand what is going on, it means someone went blind.

I haven't mentioned indie or F2P with a word, what are you talking about?

Really?

You are both playing the same role on this thread ... that is what I am talking about.
he's probably talking about "make one on topic post since you are here", Xav.
something I'm hoping for, but unlikely to get out of you when you are in "troll mode".
Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat
Shadow: That was fun
Whats funny the most for me is, that Act 1 and 2 are still running smoothly and I rarel crash there.

Act 3 is where shit starts to hit the fan. Constant exceptions, constant crashes the farther I go in a 3. Gardens, Library, Scepter is a no-go for me, where I constantly crash.

b4 1.3 I could at least hang out in my HO and do maps without crashing, but even that went away. Every 5-6 Maps I crash now and it just sucks.
