So why are third party mods lumped in as part of one game, but third party indexing tools for trading in this game not viewed with the same enthusiasm?

Lol, spot on!

Because they are part of the game client and not external programs?

One actually changes the game, the other does not. Pretty much what ecogen said.

GGG states though:
"
Path of Exile’s economy is the most important element of the game to us.
.

So both change the game.

No, it doesn't. It does not directly alter the client in any way, shape, or form. No code is changed.

Mods directly change the client, an indexer reads it. Two completely different things.

pretty sure they never said that. They have said that the games economy is an important aspect, but never that it is the most important.

But then people also like to quote them and say stupid things which are wrong like 'game is balanced around economy'

The economy is not limited to the client. PoE as a game thusly does not end at the client, it includes the forum as well and afterwards also tools such as poe.xyz.is.

When the discussion was in regards to builds in PoE v. TL2, it is limited to the client.
Just go play D3 and be done with it. Here are the facts,

1. Any game which has trade, trading and flipping will be most profitable way to grind. was in AH d3 is in PoE. No way around it no matter drop rate.

2. This games drop rates suck if you wish to play self found. It's not designed around it. It's designed to trade inapplicable items you find for applicable ones. No "smart drops" here. It's essentially trade to play. Or pay to play for ppl breaking code of conduct.

3. drop rates can't please everyone. D3 they rain so finding something GG is not really special to me. For many they like it. Can't please everyone.

Anyway you don't like PoEs trade, poor drop rate, or bots - none exist in RoS. Go play it and leave us alone.

EDIT whats funny is the no trading, pigion holed drops, RNG builds instead of exactly what I want to build, and BoA is what made me cash out of Diablo and come here. See what i mean by you can't please everyone?
Git R Dun!

Now what can you answer if i tell you most of players are unpleased by the drop rate and the trade-for-dogs economy ;)

Let's hope that his pocket money will be enough for keeping up servers alive ;)
Anticipation slowly dissipates...
