Updated 8/10-Crown of eyes nerf=50% of modifiers to spell damage also apply to melee attacks.
" If the op's changes are indeed correct they would be a poor attempt at balancing the items. CoE proposed change = would do nothing to the top tier players, while heavily penalizing the low to medium wealth tier players. Windripper proposed change = this one is the only one that seems fairly reasonable given the inherent power of the item without even mentioning the magic find potential. Mjollnir proposed change = unfounded, this item is a perfect example of heavy build customization in order to utilize, therefore disabling a multitude of options in doing so. A lower proq chance could be justified to lessen computer strain in party's, however this would be a "stupid reason" to make this change as opposed to it having to much potential.( as opposed to just optimizing the game itself) Another thing comes to mind, if these are indeed the changes that will be implemented, then how did the OP gather this information to begin with? So i am sure the OP will be under investigation if this information is indeed correct. Peace, -Boem- (either way, i won't care since i play with what i am given, nerfs/buffs have never really effected me, they offer a challenge beyond the normal scope the game offers) Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

People who say Crown of eyes isn't overpowered simply have not used crown of eyes or don't realize how much rich players can push it.
Crown of eyes allows for damage modifiers that don't even exist on the tree. Imagine your shield can give 70% increased damage, your weapon can give another 70% increase, your amulet can give 26% increased damage. That's the numerical equivalent of 5 melee physical nodes which have the highest damage on the skilltree. Melee physical nodes only affect melee and physical damage though. This affects both elemental and physical damage. Spell builds can not make use of added physical, elemental and WED modifiers on gear. CoE builds can make use of added physical damage, WED, and spell damage which enhances all the stats. The spell nodes on the tree are also a huge modifier compared to everything else. Getting 16% damage that boosts both elemental and physical damage is huge. Pain attunement just adds over all that. CoE is overpowered in both lowlife and normal builds but is often used with lowlife since the associated cost means you can probably afford a shav. So yes nerfing CoE and lowlife modifier on bloodrage is actually the most sound way to weaken CoE lowlife attack builds. It doesn't have to destroy the basis of lowlife builds but it can be a practical nerf. Last edited by kasub#2910 on Aug 6, 2014, 11:45:11 AM

" Longterm balance is healthier for the game. It's the same reason people who run coe + lowlife builds call for nerfs. The highend diversity is really limited compared to what it used to be which is not fun. Last edited by kasub#2910 on Aug 6, 2014, 11:50:24 AM

" HAHAHAHAHA, oh my god, I can't stop laughing. >_< You do know who tells the supporters what goes and what not, right? Please don't tell me you think they just say: "I want this item in-game" and it goes in without anybody looking at the balance. Oh man, my side hurts from laughing....I need to work out more. “Demons run when a good man goes to war"

" I do have to say he seems partially correct though. It seems like a ton of focus is put on not letting supporter uniques hit the live game with to much power. The opposite is probably true with items made by ggg themselves, if someone whos job it is to create and balance items builds something im sure it faces a lot less scrutiny. If Chris had a idea for a item or gem he wanted in game you really believe someone stops him and runs a bunch of test on it ? Thats why you get stuff like shavs or the original codt gem, they obviously Do less testing etc when they assume a item is thought out. |

COE would still be really powerful even if they did do this, though having the bonus only apply to physical damage would be an equally decent nerf.
