Builds feel ike spamming 1 or 2 buttons.

Charan summed it up well.

It's an Action RPG if you don't like continuously clicking monsters and smashing buttons it's simply the wrong genre for you.

Pretty much this. Entire builds are likely built around 1 or 2 skills.

Also, Grinding Gear Games.

In POE it's a fact that your ability to use an array of skills is constrained by both gear and gem drops. This is also true for the pace of combat. As you gain better equipment, with more mana, more survivability, and more attack speed, things rapidly accelerate. Characters at high level in this game are generally using a wide array of AOE skills, single target skills, curses, auras, traps and summons. The people at the top of the ladder are killing machines, and they got there using the same drop system you're playing with.

As for the quality of drops, there is a lot of randomness, but there are numerous avenues to self-upgrade. The game has a ton of different currency items in it that give players a chance to make amazing items from scratch. There are also very active trading forums, where you can probably find a lot of upgrades for a pretty reasonable cost.

There is a fine balance between giving players too little loot, and too much. If we overdo things on loot distribution, it severely diminishes the joy players feel when they find or craft something amazing. The consequence is that sometimes you go through long periods without an upgrade, but when that upgrade comes, it's really exciting.

Thank you for your feedback.
I'm running out of buttons for all my skills =(

I have to put conversion trap on middle mouse and it totally sucks, sometimes doesn't work and sometimes I scroll in and mess up the view.

I can't wait until we can map to shift + click or extra mouse buttons. I would be really happy being able to scroll through skills on right click or something too.
This is a great example of the internet and opinions.

You have one thread with people QQing about wasting a skill slot on movement, and another thread with QQing about only using a couple skills.

Can't please everyone.

The idea of the gems is cool, but since you dont have set moves for classes, the builds seem to have no synergy. It feels like spamming 1 or 2 buttons with another in between them. Combat gets boring quickly. Drops are also a issue, they suck. I have a 38 marauder and a 28 shadow, between the two of them I have not gotten any interesting drops. Game is getting boring fast. Funny how loot games these days dont want fun loot to drop, we have to"grind" endlessly for a unique, and maybe it will be good, seems like D3 all over again but with clunky combat

About combat:
It is up to you, the player, to make your own character. The tools are given for you to explore. I have a Duelist that has a full skill bar, which I use for different situations. Some people like "one card combos", some people like "a skill for every situation" (which is me in this case)

About loots:
If you are looking for yellow drops, well they aren't called rares for nothing. Continuing from that point, Uniques, are even rarer.

Trade currencies. Don't want to trade? Use your currencies. It is up to you.

Also, RNG.
I need more purple titles
Please tell me some viable HC builds that only require 2 spams.

I'm playing a summoner and I have to spam all 3 of my minions because they have zero durability , on top of my 2 curses and a totem. It's so obnoxious.

Why is no one commenting on builds feeling like button spamming? I could deal with crap drops more easily if the combat was actually fun.

Depending on the concept for your character, you might have to use all of the hotkeys in normal combat. It all depends on how you build it. If you are not going for any symmetry between the skills you are using, then sure, you might be just using one or 2 skills.

This is true for all of the character classes. Look at the skills, look for some that interest you for your character, then look for supporting skills. From this point, you can then plan your passive tree around your concept for your character.

The skilldrasil keeps all of the different character classes from being able to do everything equally well though. Sure you could make a melee oriented Witch that specializes in 2 handed weapons, but getting the supporting skills for it will take a lot more skill points than for a marauder.

The only advice I can give you is to look at the available skills, find a symmetry you wish to try, plan out the passive tree, go with it, modify as needed. If you are "stuck mashing one or two buttons" then the only person to blame is the person that built the character.

You know, he's not completely wrong about 1 or 2 skills thing. I mean, I mostly stick to 1 or 2 myself.

I disagree with the loot, though. I'm sure you've come across some alch orbs? You can craft some nice stuff with those, with whites you find on the ground.

I've only found one unique myself (level 1 ring) in about 50 hours since OB, but I'm still enjoying myself and the loot.

But yes, skills could perhaps use a bit more flexibility but that might also be the way I'm building my dudes.
The drop rate is very low for gear. I don't think I've ever gotten an upgrade from a dropped gear piece. Having said that, GGG put in many other options to upgrade gear/get gear without having to receive it from drops. You could say this is no better than having to rely on the AH in D3, but I find the 'options' for trading have a much higher drop rate overall which compensates the low drop rate for gear. As an example: Did you know that if you keep revisiting 'gear traders' that the gear changes and more often than not, you can find 4 link gear to your level. Then its just a matter of applying an alchemy gem + using gems to fit it to your needs. This is just one example of many options.

The clunky combat is an issue in this game. Dysnc/etc has been in the game for sometime now. Whether or not it is because they are using an outdated engine or whatever, I find that you have to have a certain resolve to get through it. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that 'everything is fine', but keep in mind this is still a beta and many things need to be addressed.

As for the 1 to 2 skill button spam? I think that all depends on how you build your character. Some of my characters spam 1 or 2 skills, yes. Other characters can't find room on my skill bar for all the skills I want to use. That is the beauty of the skill system in this game. You can really build your character any way you want and still be viable.
