Diablo 3 : real money auction house - confirmed
" This. I fully realise that it can happen and that it would happen in D3 regardless. The issue I have with it is 1) It will now be considered accepted and normal to RMT for good items. No longer will it be taboo or frowned upon by the general population because "Blizzard included it in the game, that means it's ok." 2) RMT cripples the regular in-game economy. Want to buy that really good item the guy is selling by trading him your best runes? Too bad. Now he's only going to want to sell it for real money. " Blizzard will still retain the right to stop third party selling sites if they want, they can make their terms of agreement say anything they want it to say. " You have no clue whether it'll cripple the regular economy. Also, gold and money will have a one to one ratio, thus both economies will be roughly the same. Better gear might get sold on the RMAH, however, players will be able to post free items on the RMAH in order to earn enough to get the best items. Happy Days Abound. I'm with SpudOfDoom on this one Silver.
Think of it like this: Playstation 3 & Xbox 360, yeah they have plenty of room on the disc but wait they are releasing add-on content for REAL MONEY, DOWNLOAD ONLY, You don't think that Blizzard seen that and went... OH OH OH... BLEEP! That is a really good BLEEEEEEPING idea! F*CK we could make a S#it load of money by robbing people that are trying to sell items for real money, if 2 consoles can sell 3rd party software we can sell things you CAN ALREADY FIND for whatever F*CKING price we say, and if they don't pay us We'll STILL TAKE THEIR F*CKING MONEY! (Yes the cursing was NEEDED to SHOW the INTENSITY OF THE POINT). Expansion packs already cost money, but if they don't have to modify the system and STILL MAKE MONEY (come on it has been in development for quite a while I don't think we'll see an expansion pack anytime soon... and WoW isn't anything to brag about). The point is you will pay money for in-game sh!t, you already do if you buy expansion packs like in Dragon Age so it will be like that but nothing NEW and it will be whatever people want to sell. Yeah that is bull, paying for an expansion is getting new areas to explore and the POTENTIAL to get those shiny new items with some hard work. Personally I never was too interested in D3, the more I read the more disenchanted I got, and what the hell is the point of playing a loot based action RPG if you don't even have to find the stuff and just buy it instead? IMO super LAME. Even with the option to buy some ultrarare armor or something I would rather play forever and never find it, and be perfectly excited with the stuff I found on my own.

" Here's my problem with the whole thing: Many make arguments that whether Blizzard had implemented the real cash AH or not, people would still end up buying those items from 3rd party website. That is true. However.... how many people would do that? I don't know the numbers, but from personal standpoint.. if you take 100 people, I believe that about 15 to 20 of them would buy off 3rd party websites. About 30% would do it often, another 30% would do it once in a while, and the remaining 40% would do it once in a blue moon. Don't quote me on the numbers, this is just an example. So, fair reality, right? Now, what will happen with this new cash AH? The remaining 80 to 85 people would see that the others are buying the items with cash, the cash AH is readily available to them.... and oh my, it's all nice and secure... so no worries about your credit card info being stolen or your items not being delivered... or buying dupes (ha, right? hopefully Blizzard ensures player purchases). Now that 15 to 20 number is looking more like 30 to 40. And what about the guy that doesn't want anything to do with the cash AH? Well, Blizzard was kind enough to include regular gold AH. However, this lonely guy will be tempted over and over to try out this cash AH. Oh, and how convenient, Blizzard is offering this guy to post HIS items up a few times a week for free to try out the system. Ever wondered why drug dealers are willing to give a free sample? Yeah.... On top of everything... you keep on saying, oh well why would you care about someone else, not like you constantly play with them... well, why the f' are we playing multilayer anyways? I, personally, like the illusion that we all start out the same, and have the same barriers in the game I play. If I know that Johny Richfluck did not have to spend 200 hours acquiring his set of better items than I... well... yeah, that would kind of ruin it for me. It would just jack up the atmosphere of the game for me. I would no longer look at it as a fun ARPG... I would just look at it as many other "F2P" games out there, where micro transactions rule the world. Oh, and please, don't tell me D3 is not F2P, because it has the feel of it right now. Blizzard is even considering the F2P model. I know people will keep on buying items for real money, but I hate it and I'm against it. And now Blizzard is OKAYing it... so f' Blizzard. Personal opinion, don't like it... well, why don't you rant about it. :) Because... frankly... ![]() I would keep going, but my interest in Blizzard games is falling like a rock. I guess Newton was right... what goes up, must come down. Edit: oh... and SoD made more of a point than any of us in this whole thread: " Nuff said. That's my bkboggy for you, telling it how it is. I hope SpudOfDoom has some more to say because between these 2 I don't NEED TV! I hope we can do active voice chat debates while playing guys!

" Yeah that goes without saying. What I'm referring to is that by including it in the game it becomes "normal" and accepted by everyone. It just doesn't feel quite right playing a game when you know it's basically going turn into a contest between who has the most RL money. Especially since *every* item will be tradable on there. LOL don't worry just buy items with "+% chance find MAGIC ITEMS" and sell a lot of S#it... yes just go around doing that and you won't NEED a JOB... you'd be just like the Gold farmers everyone was B*tching about in WoW only with REAL MONEY, I think the vast majority of it would be TAX FREE... if your in Texas, USA I don't think there are taxes applicable to this sort of thing.

" +MF will be worth a lot in D3 because of this stuff. And although it would be great to be a professional item farmer, the income would be so tiny. Probably only a few dollars a day. IGN: SpudOfDoom | The Exiled - Path Of Exile's oldest clan

Yeah but with that few dollars a day I could support a minor habbit like eating... and electricity...
