1. An antique is a physical thing that might be around for centuries... a game item is a virtual piece of code that will stick around for a few years or so.

2. That's life? No, we're playing games. If I wanted GTA to be life-like, I'd take my 38 and my 40, go out into the street and start shooting people and taking their cars. Then I'd knockdown a hooker and start beating her until dollar bills come pouring out of her. I don't want games to be like the real life, or even the other way around.

Who cares if the thing being traded is tangible or not? That is in no way the point. Blizzard is facilitating the trade for you, they deserve a cut. And yes, money is a real life thing. Were not talking about the realism of game play here. Were talking about a real economy where things are traded for real money.

If you don't want to use it, well don't use it. Try to get over what other people are doing, it's their choice. Blizzard isn't forcing you to do anything. Use the gold AH if you like.
Blizzard would be FORCING us to play on the same servers as the lame ass rich kids... I think there should be separate servers:

(Warning if you are FOR player to player cash transactions don't read any further, I don't want to hurt your wallet's emotions... this is JUST my opinion, that's right no one else can have it)

Honorable: No actual currency trades.

Weak B*tch: Yeah you can afford it but I don't want to play with you or be within the same ranking structure or anything to deal with the people in the WEAK B*TCH category...
I love virtual brutality so save it for the Mobs...

Hardcore has no cash AH. Rejoice.
Thank you (I don't really want to call you Slob because I respect you more than that).

Blizz could have been more proactive against the sales of items for $$, but they decided to make it mainstream and take profit from it instead. The difference is now it will be a lot more prevalent.

This. I fully realise that it can happen and that it would happen in D3 regardless. The issue I have with it is

1) It will now be considered accepted and normal to RMT for good items. No longer will it be taboo or frowned upon by the general population because "Blizzard included it in the game, that means it's ok."

2) RMT cripples the regular in-game economy. Want to buy that really good item the guy is selling by trading him your best runes? Too bad. Now he's only going to want to sell it for real money.

Blizzard will still retain the right to stop third party selling sites if they want, they can make their terms of agreement say anything they want it to say.

You have no clue whether it'll cripple the regular economy. Also, gold and money will have a one to one ratio, thus both economies will be roughly the same.

Better gear might get sold on the RMAH, however, players will be able to post free items on the RMAH in order to earn enough to get the best items.
Happy Days Abound.

I'm with SpudOfDoom on this one Silver.

Think of it like this:

Playstation 3 & Xbox 360, yeah they have plenty of room on the disc but wait they are releasing add-on content for REAL MONEY, DOWNLOAD ONLY, You don't think that Blizzard seen that and went...

OH OH OH... BLEEP! That is a really good BLEEEEEEPING idea! F*CK we could make a S#it load of money by robbing people that are trying to sell items for real money, if 2 consoles can sell 3rd party software we can sell things you CAN ALREADY FIND for whatever F*CKING price we say, and if they don't pay us We'll STILL TAKE THEIR F*CKING MONEY!

(Yes the cursing was NEEDED to SHOW the INTENSITY OF THE POINT). Expansion packs already cost money, but if they don't have to modify the system and STILL MAKE MONEY (come on it has been in development for quite a while I don't think we'll see an expansion pack anytime soon... and WoW isn't anything to brag about). The point is you will pay money for in-game sh!t, you already do if you buy expansion packs like in Dragon Age so it will be like that but nothing NEW and it will be whatever people want to sell.

Yeah that is bull, paying for an expansion is getting new areas to explore and the POTENTIAL to get those shiny new items with some hard work. Personally I never was too interested in D3, the more I read the more disenchanted I got, and what the hell is the point of playing a loot based action RPG if you don't even have to find the stuff and just buy it instead? IMO super LAME. Even with the option to buy some ultrarare armor or something I would rather play forever and never find it, and be perfectly excited with the stuff I found on my own.
That's my bkboggy for you, telling it how it is. I hope SpudOfDoom has some more to say because between these 2 I don't NEED TV! I hope we can do active voice chat debates while playing guys!

Yeah that goes without saying. What I'm referring to is that by including it in the game it becomes "normal" and accepted by everyone. It just doesn't feel quite right playing a game when you know it's basically going turn into a contest between who has the most RL money. Especially since *every* item will be tradable on there.
