Diablo 3 : real money auction house - confirmed

The way I see it is that some other site will just do this, so it's better to fight fire with water... water being a secure site of their own where players can do the very thing that the third party sit was doing.
This is different than something like D2JSP... which spammed all the time, instead it's a secure fist party affair. Happy Days Abound.

So you dont mind people buying better gear than you? even if you farmed for 3 months for it?
Blizzards just sloppy at shutting down the sites. They dont care about d2 anymore and haven't since about 5-7 years ago. Wow they were far better at stopping it.The only reason they couldnt stop all of it however was because there game is just soooooo big now. 13 mill players or something is hard to monitor. That and they just sorta dont seem to care now. So they thought why not just implement it into the game. That way we dont have to monitor it at all and we get piece of the pie. Its pretty much as bad microtransactions as a korian mmo haha. "want the best gear? just buy it!" "want a high level charecter but cant be bothered leveling like everyone else? just buy one!" Well thats you then dude. I cared a hell of alot. It made me quit after playing for 2 years. The trading system just got owned and ended up getting turning into real money trading. I already bought the game I dont want to be forced to pay more money to be the best.
Its almost like blizzard are putting d2 fans through an endurance test by seeing how much they can piss them off before they decide they dont want to buy the game anymore. Cheaper than free... Speedtree Last edited by Rustychops#1076 on Aug 1, 2011, 9:55:51 AM

" I don't mind it at all like I wouldn't mind if someone could buy a car for his daily wage when I should have to work for two years to afford it. That's how things work in life. Being online 'world' doesn't mean it works here differently, it's a different entity and everybody are 'equal' here from the start. There are not and they have never been. Selling items for real money was from day one of cbn, and it didn't affect game at all. | |

2 years is a lot of value out of a game that had D2JSP almost since its inception.
I really don't care what people do with their money, an ARPG isn't an MMO, so it's not really going to affect me if they buy better gear than me, I could always have found great gear if I just played like normal anyways, and I had found great gear while playing Diablo 2. But what I had most fun with in a game like Diablo 2 was playing with friends, co-op sold the game for me. All I'm saying is that don't put it past any third party Chinese / whatever farmers to farm the hell out of PoE and sell powerful items to players for money, because it will happen it's just a matter of time. I still think GGG would benefit more by being a direct dampener on those third party markets. Happy Days Abound.

" I understand why you're bothered by this, because it isn't cool. I think Blizzard knows it isn't cool. But people do it anyways, so they decided just to let players do what they want. Players can buy and sell items with gold or real money, either way players would end up doing either. I don't mind the system, because it'll be a secure way for players to buy and sell items. The majority of the game is still with the game-play which is key. Ultimately time will tell if this helps Diablo 3 or not, I feel like it will, because it helps give the developers more resources (money) to make more content and protect the servers. D2JSP doesn't care about Blizzard or whether Blizzard is protecting its servers, and the same for any site selling PoE items. Happy Days Abound.

And if GGG actually care and counter it? At least when its not legit only a small percentage of the player base do it (exept in d2) However if you make it legit itll get really big : /.

Well, D2JSP was really big, I never used it, and likewise I'll never use the Diablo 3 Real Money AH.
But, the size of the seller only increases with the popularity of the game. I would prefer that GGG have their own real money AH where players can buy and sell to each other. Remember GGG isn't providing any items to the players directly, it's all in-house and secure, also GGG would be getting a small percentage of money from the items sold on the AH. I don't like it but unfortunately it's the most elegant solution to these types of secure ARPG games, unless something better is thought up. For GGG to go after and try to sue every website that sells their items it'd take a fortune, a fortune we know they just don't have yet. So if they just implemented their own RMAH system it would allow people to have access to the items they want without having to give money to some third party website that doesn't care about GGG. It is a noble act to swing your sword at the oncoming waves of websites that sell your items, but it might just be the best solution to allow your players to do what they want to do and just buy and sell to each other.
