Are the Devs still making the game they want to play?
so.
make your own FFA groups, it's not other people's responsibility to make you happy. |

" And what can you take from that? |

lol, butthurt loot ninjas. If there was a hostile command, I'd be much more sympathetic with the 'item tension' nonsense.
No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.

" His phrasing wasn't poor at all. You just didn't like what he was saying and didn't really take the time to understand it before posting your knee jerk reaction. He doesn't experience the problem first hand but would still like to see it fixed. Nothing at all hard to understand about that. " This. Whats funny about this topic is that if GGG made a pure FFA league right now it would probably be so unpopular that guys like the OP would still be unhappy. " I would most definitely support a hostility button! And yea, I would be SO unhappy that I would buy another $1000 supporter pack to show it. (I am quite serious) Actually, I am not even asking for a “FFA only” league anyway. I think there are several solutions that are plausible without adding exclusive leagues... But that’s another topic. Thing is stryker, you do not need to fight against this; you already have what you wanted and more. (Except a SFL with more loot – yet) You even admitted during those arguments 16-18 months ago that your intention was NOT to spoil the FFA (now considered SA) environment that existed for the people who liked it - you just wanted a place with no loot tension where you could play. Well, that FFA environment IS spoiled and I’m just doing what I can to bring that to GGG’s attention before more potential supporters like myself give up and move on... I would have already left if I did not have so much invested in this game.(time, money, friends) I feel it’s worth it to try at least. Lastly, if such a league were to be unpopular it would only be because everyone is so used to playing the PA setting here (or D3s MMO style allocation) that they won’t want to adjust or try it. Also, I can say with certainty that many players I knew who did like "item tension" have quit and long since moved on. Even with a small population though, such a League IMO would indeed be epic. |

Well, this is going nowhere it seems. So, to clear things up. We got people who wanted FFA and people who wanted PA and now that these options are there to play either way no one is happy?
So, if we go back to SA people will argue again that they want PA and the cycle repeats endlessly. No one is ever happy even if they should be, look at D3, 'please remove the AH' they wanted and now they got it they want it back obviously the ones who wanted it gone are happy and the ones who want it are the whiners now). At the end of the day you gotta see POE for what it is, a game. You play it to get away from fighting and whining because real life has more than enough of this serious bullshit. I play to enjoy myself every now and then and not to bother with some silly loot allocation. You who want FFA: Make a party and stop crying that there are none because you can play with others who want to loot the way you do. I suggest make a FFA thread so you can find each other easier, kinda like we got threads for guild recruitment and so on. You who want PA: You already got what you want, why argue? You can play PA whenever you like and if you party with someone who set it to SA or FFA ask kindly for it to be changed or leave the party. |

" If an FFA league would make you happy then I support it completely. I was just contemplating that if it was as unpopular a concept as it is right now in public games then it might not really help that much. " I don't know about that.... FFA seemed to go away pretty fast as soon as PA was introduced.. But ya, if I can argue that a SFL makes sense then I think the same can apply to an FFA type league. I think if GGG ever introduces paid leagues maybe you should be the first to start this league up. Standard Forever

SA/FFA is a way for players to 'grief' others by taking drops that normally wouldn't be accessible to them. The devs (based on the dev manifesto quote + SA/FFA's existance in the first place) want a game where you can grief others. So, in regards to your question: "Are the Devs still making the game they want to play?"
Yes, of course they have. Review this GGG video (start at ~4:05): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB2elR82nJM Note the comment by Chris "You may be able to con a party member into it". That's 'griefing other players' in a nutshell. That's their philosophy and they slip it in, maybe not obviously, from time to time. So the answer to your question very factually is yes. --- In regards to your other discussion on making PA less prevalent, give up on it. Loot tension is a mechanic to grief others and the majority of the game doesn't want griefed, as evidenced by the push for PA in the first place and the fact that the majority of parties are PA. Until items and/or currency lose value where you feel you can afford to miss an exalted drop from time to time (aka never), people will never want to be off of PA Last edited by DestroTheGod#5470 on May 9, 2014, 2:48:28 PM

One of the reasons I really enjoyed Guild Wars 2 was the complete lack of loot tension. I find it to be a trivial and meaningless mechanic.
I don't understand why this is even a thing we are discussing so far down the road. Loot options exist, and a majority of people choose PA (or SA, which I personally like better). I get it, you want more FFA (pronounced Melee-Only) parties. So make them. A comprehensive, easy on the eyes loot filter:

" i think this is a fallacy here. you gotta consider players like Kripp (i know, i know, but hang with me here), that constantly competed against his group of friends for loot, to the point of trolling with fake drops, frost walling, etc. etc. It was just a different environment that is permanently gone with the addition of permanent allocation option. Yes you can still do it, but then you have to force it and chances are it wont be received as well by your groups as when it was just part of the game and funny. The option did kind of resemble the changing of the guard from a purely competitive game to a collector game, and I do understand lamenting the change. The genie is out of the bottle so to speak, not the worst thing ever, but definitely a different game without the loot tension. Hey...is this thing on?
