Are the Devs still making the game they want to play?

the mix of desinc, lag, and horrible fps when the screen is full of flashy spells flying around makes ffa/SA a pain in the rear, in adition to this the avg player dosent like to stop killing just to run into a pack of monster each time something drops.

PA was one of the best thing they did, at least for those with crappy pcs/conection aswell s for those with ranged char or chars who dint have uber movment speed.

Nah. Nope. Let people play the game they want to. There'd be no playerbase to support the game if the devs made a game only for them, aka about 10 people. GGG know this philosophy is what will keep the game alive, which is why paid leagues are planned.

I think the initial introduction of SA was what caused the eventual downfall of FFA loot. They showed they were willing to compromise, and now here we are.

Not that I really care personally, I play solo because I like to get ALL the goods. I'm not a "sharing is caring" type of dude :D

And even when I do play in groups, it's nice to just relax and pick stuff up when I feel like it. It's a very grindy game, I don't feel like you should have to constantly be on your toes for something as fundamental as picking up gear.

Yeah, ideally if this game were one that had a more "edge-of-your-seat" gameplay style, I would agree that the loss of SA and FFA is a sad one. The fact is however, loot tension on top of a game in which the most effective way to play is to auto-pilot a long, grueling grind where at any moment your fortunes could change by way of a single drop is not a positive element.

If there were no desync, if playing the game actively was the only way to play, and if players had a more consistent sense of wealth progression, I would wholly welcome the idea of forced SA to bring loot tension into the fold. As it is however, all it would end up doing is add the anxiety that, at any moment, the item that could catapult your character to the next tier could get missed because you nodded off in this game that is more akin to "Long-haul trucker simulator".

GGG is a business and Path of Exile is their product. The sole purpose of a business is to make as much money as possible.

The original devs who started out making PoE probably had a grand/stubborn vision of making a game that they wanted to play, but as the company grew bigger and the player base increased in size, they realized that they will have to make some design decisions that will cater to "the masses", even if it means those decisions go against their original vision.

I think its telling that this is just about the first thread that I have seen that wants loot tension back.

That being said I think if there are enough people that want it then there should be a league that provides that. It think it would make sense if it was some kind of open pvp or cutthroat league, but what do I know. I have no interest in this.
