Since there is no "money" in this game every trade is based upon bartering. The currency we use is not "money" because the value of the currency fluctuates with the economy. Right now Chaos for example are worth less then lower forms of currency. This could change on any given day.

Well, by your definition, the USD isn't money, because its value fluctuates with the US economy. But it is money.

This game does have money. Some of the money has pegged value due to vendor recipes. Other money has floating value, dependent on the economy. There isn't a barter economy in PoE, though.

Being rich in the game usually means pretty broke in irl. Consider how many hours of flipping it must take to obtain 300+ exalted orbs, and how much actual money someone could make in the same time. (RMT excluded, but the guy claimed he doesn't do that.)

But flipping ingame items is fun, flipping burgers on the other hand...
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

You have so little faith in people. ;) He may actually have a marketable qualification!

Flipping burgers gets a bad rap. Fry cooks actually contribute to society, unlike those in marketing, sales, drug enforcement, or law.
For years i searched for deep truths. A thousand revelations. At the very edge...the ability to think itself dissolves away.Thinking in human language is the problem. It doesn't make you rich, though, so I could see why someone prefers flipping items over flipping burgers! I actually think well of everyone who works for a living instead of living off of their parents (past a certain age) or welfare (unless there is a solid reason, e.g. disability).

And stigmatizing those whom dont fit into your preconceptions of how people should behave can very well cause harm to both individuals and society as a whole. You should be very careful in your logic when dealing with generalizations. 'having a job' doesnt equate to 'benefiting society'.

Personally i would like to see a day when the majority of the populace no longer need to work. When the necessities of life are provided for automatically through the power of technology. Some might think such a thing absurd, but at this very minute it could be made possible.

It is not a lack of technology which holds us back from obtaining paradise. It is our culture. The systems of control (which we are members of) resist change. And those at the top will always aim to keep themselves at the top.

And assuming that everyone in a specific profession doesn't contribute to society is also a bad generalization to make. Not every person in law looks out for themselves. Without marketing and sales departments, many of the games we know and love would have flopped. Without drug enforcement, harder drugs with more dire consequences than those of marijuana could cause further damage to society.

E: The point is, don't be a hypocrite.

Then you should probably not do it. :)
