PoE really having a shiny future or is it just switching player bases?
" I agree with some points, with others I don't. You are also forgetting a couple of important things, namely: 1) The economy would adjust itself if bottom feeders were to disappear 2) GGG would adjust the economy if bottom feeders were to disappear 3) The top players would adjust their playstyle if bottom feeders were to disappear 3.1) Most top players aren't willing to bot/RMT. Baddies around the forum will accuse everyone of cheating who is better than them, which makes botting and RMT look like a huge problem. The reality is, only a small percentage of players is actually willing to cheat. Most top players would just quit out of frustration, which means GGG would have to adjust the economy (point 2) GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" Thanks for your answers. 1) It would? It would no longer be a pyramid economy? Without changing the design, the game still requires, for mapping and crafting, far more orbs per person than that person actually loots. People would still require orbs from other sources. It would still be, by design, a pyramid economy. But wouldn't actually work. 2) Adjust the economy? How? Make changes that have been put forward in feedback throughout OB and release? Remove the pyramid economy, or at least lessen the currency sink for content and crafting, or increase currency drops? Introduce BtA in at least some fashion? If you read the feedback given several times over the last year about this subject, you will find one last bullet-point that I could have but purposely didn't add. Closing the stable door, after the whole livery has bolted. 3) I agree. Casually casual. Last edited by TheAnuhart#4741 on Apr 27, 2014, 2:05:52 PM

" by increasing drop rates? what? is it exactly what everyone is accusing SFL proponents? | |
" i find this very interesting....pls, tell me: a) with how many top players did you play in end game? b) how many top players do you know that dont RMT? c) dont you see that that is exactly what is happening, i mean top players that dont want to cheat quitting in large numbers? I mean dont you think its strange that from 200 000 people that play the game every day according from GGG numbers and reports, you can find only few parties to join in prime time? |

" 1) It would still be a pyramid, but a smaller and a less steep one (antonym of steep? I don't know). People would settle for worse items and lower level/less quantity maps, simply because the best stuff would be much more expensive. This is all assuming players are acting rationally (which they, on average, usually are). 2) Yes, basically everything you said. They have been slowly doing this for the last year or so and they would have to push it much further if the bottom feeders disappear. What bullet-point do you mean? Offline client? GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" Yes, but there are also other ways of doing this. The 'accusation' with SFL is a different one, though. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" Anecdotal evidence is no evidence, so it's kind of pointless to answer your questions. Point 3.1 is an opinion of mine, not a fact. Though I believe the burden of proof lays on the RMT doomsayers, not on me. To this day nobody was able to answer my question of by how much exactly RMT influences the economy as a whole. My feeling tells me, not more than an addition of 5% to the natural inflation. And to answer your third question, no I don't see that. Players come and go, and often they come back. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" They really haven't, not anywhere near enough to even matter. " " If that needs explaining. Feedback given. Warnings, if you like. But no action taken. Making the changes after the damage is done, is at most inefficient and at least ineffective. In short, too late. Why would you support actions to attempt to rescue the game should it fall, but not support those same actions while it is falling when they would prevent it from falling? Casually casual. " Your opinion is your opinion and noone will change that, but i played with most people in top 50 in HC and nemesis leagues and 80% of them are using jsp and that is fact and not anecdotal evidence. Also you said if middle and bottom feeders would shrink a lot that top players would change their play style. Situation now is that most top players (and they are not many compared with how many people play this game) dont have chisels even with ZOMG 200 000 people playing every day, do you really think that top players would go and farm low lvl content for 4-5 hours for chisel recipe just to be able to play few maps, or that some players that want to craft 1 great item for themself would go and farm piety for 1000 hours just to fail in that crafting. No, they wouldnt, they would rather quit. This game cant function without all links in chain. |
