PoE really having a shiny future or is it just switching player bases?

all the people who came to PoE to escape the Auction Role-Playing Game genre of D3 have since left

all the people who loved playing the Auction Role-Playing Game of D3 while it still had the AH have since come to PoE

so yeah, full community swap

All the botters needed someplace to go after D3 got rid of the AH as well....They seem to welcomed with open arms in this community.

For some people the AH isn't an issue at all. I personally left d3 not because of the AH, but because the game didn't live up to its predecessor.

I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready.

I didn't like the act 3 changes but closed beta was fine.
I see threads and reddits that people also don't like certain changes

The forum and reddit activity is around the same with the exception of itemreddits being against the rule back then.

So basically my question. Do you believe that there is a shiny future for PoE where everybody is happy or is GGG just switching the playerbase like condoms?

It doesn't look like the devs are communicating with their players anymore.

When did /online stop working btw?

1. Players come, players go, then they come back again. Some stay. Others leave for good. It's normal.
2. You can't please everyone, especially not 100%. People will only talk about changes they don't like, not the ones they like.
3. I believe in a shiny future for PoE, 3+ years at least.
4. A scenario where everyone is happy is 100% unrealistic.
5. Devs are communicating with the players on a regular basis.
6. /online stopped working in December 2012.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
If you're looking for a game that everyone is happy with, you're on a fool's errand. There will always be people who are unhappy with what ever and they'll come to the forums to vent. Play games that you enjoy and quit worrying about what everyone else is doing.

In terms of "future", we have no idea. Hellgate London closed up shop with 30 days notice. Sacred 2 didn't even do that... they never even officially quit. They just closed the doors and were never heard from again. PoE will shut down at some point. It will have to. We have no idea when that will be.

People enjoy being unhappy, they hold on to it, savoir it, stoke it like a fire, and periodically spew it all over other people so they can have interactions that reinforce their unhappiness and, if they have done their job well, they make others unhappy so these interactions continue.
Noblesse oblige

Misinformation and totally off base.We were given plenty of warning and enough time to retrieve all our characters from closed servers and allowed to save them in our local save files.Easily a month.

We were also given a direct reason as to why this was occurring and that the franchise was under consideration of sale.

Nobody, just quit and everything was transparent on the official forums.Clan DA had a close relationship with the developers and nothing was hidden from the general player base.

When they had to shard everything off to handle the load. There used to only be a few hundred up to a few thousand players online concurrently. There can be tens of thousands now spread across several leagues and races so an /online count would be misleading. The devs have stated that 150,000-200,000 players play each day. Statistics beyond that are fairly meaningless.

PoE cant make all players happy, even the best games in the history didnt.

Devs are communicating with their players, but devs have their own views on certain aspects of the game.
They think dumping all items into Standard is OK.
They think legacy items in Standard are OK.
They think drop rates in temporary leagues are enough to complete a build in 4 months. They think there shouldnt be an auction house in trade-based game.
They think high-level maps shouldnt be sustainable, and players should faceroll low-level maps to eventually run high-level ones.
They think PoE needs even more uniques and skills, instead of making the old ones viable.
As long as GGG will keep that mentality, PoE wont became much better than it is.

And there are also some aspects, that seem to be out of their "reach" - desync, FPS drops, etc.

Can anyone show me 1 official forum for a game that has been released that isn't flooded with "shit posts" or entitlement issues? -->
