This post is unfortunately 100% true.

Every high level player pretty much buys his gear with money they get from playing the econ game (lots of selling, often at gouging prices off of people who are desperate for the specific stats they have), and very little of it from actually upgrading gear from drops they find themselves.

It's a systemic problem with the game and it's driving players away. To argue that "hardcore" players want to play slot machines or flappy birds over and over is kind of silly. This game does not have a bigger popular of hardcore players than any other decent, semi-successful online game.

But how is this a problem with the game? it is intended. The entire point it is an online game is because it has an economy. If you don't like that, why do you play it?

You should keep in mind that trading is a huge part of the game.

A game that provides next to zero trading infrastructure......

It's also been stated by Chris himself on a number of occasions that they want solo players to be able to play through the content and also progress on their own.

POE was also sold on the claim of being a *hardcore* ARPG,which doesn't exactly fit with the trade and trivialize mind set now does it.

Normal economy is where someone produces a product or service and due to demand for it he sells it for a bit more than he spend to produce it and makes profit

The economy here is you stalk the trade chat, see a good item being sold by a noob, buy it and resell it for more. In many cases a lot more...

I've just bought RoS and started a HC crusader.

Quit PoE because of the "hardcore" RNG in drops and crafting, for which I don't have the time.

I'm really enjoying playing self found in ROS and not having to depend on others by trading.

hahaha wait when you want to upgrade your gems in crafting, in diablo3 its cost like 20 milions gold, and its dropps like 100k for 4 hours T3 haha.. And if you want crafting set items and legendary you will find its need stuff who are so rare that you will give up.. And worst part, you cant trade, so you need to find it self.

Have fun in RoS =))) For me i want trading and good crafting who not cost me any gold!
Poe veteran! Have been here sense November 2010.

Got baited by Arioc into D3. Nah we said we do try it out and we were enjoying it and despite numerous tales of me never to buy it, since we had fun with d3, we went and also bought the expansion and I am enjoying it.

Obvioulsy there are still flaws, where Diablo 3 could learn from PoE. But Diablo 3 has come to a state now, where PoE can learn more and more about what they are doing. Never had I thought this to happen.

Overall the unique item design is a lot more fun and interesting in Diablo 3. I can only think of a few fun uniques out of the piles of unique items PoE has, that are actually fun or interesting. The list is topped with the recent helmet that does the shock, burn, chill/ freeze swap around (Which could have a bit more utiliy besides the unique parts that make it unique). Kaoms and even shavs, both are plain boring. D3 has them too boring uniques that are simply a dps upgrade... or useless unique items.

Than there are tons of uniques tha create fun minions, will work towards strong frost and chill builds and so on, the best is most of these drop and they could do something fun (and not perse overpowered) for a large variety of builds. Thus it is nice to have them, you keep them around to switch and spice things up. With the right change of items a melee build can even become ranged, that is imagining heavy strike becoming a ranged attack in PoE <- fun design interesting.

2 of the new boss fights in Diablo 3 are hard, but also a lot of fun and skill based to play. Those two fights make Atzire feel a cheap design to be honest.

What misses in D3 is that choices matter and your character becomes your own. Most builds still are generic damage items with a rate of survival on them. This is the same for path of exile, but in path of exile the choices manage to feel more meaningfull and the build variety is a lot larger with the generic lot than Diablo 3. A part of D3's weakness which is alos shared by the trend in PoE is that more and more build variation comes through the ownership of 1 or multiple unique items. This means going into the grind to just play differently, if this balance lies towards the items, rather than the character builders (skills, passive tree etc.) the game becomes a drag to play. I would say that neither development team of either games has gotten this balance right, I would say that PoE might have had it in CB, but seems to have completely lost it for now.

HAHAHA :|

No, you need gold but you will find gold and that's a guarantee. So you will progress unlike in PoE. HAHAHA ugh ugh
And for crafting legendaries etc you can buy recipes which cost lots of gold. For certian very rare legendaries it is a good think that they are hard to craft.
HAHAH ugh ugh
yeap, at least you know that if you play hard at some point you will progress. In PoE you can play like 1000 hours and not find a single good item :(((((
diablo 3 has the worst end game ever and maybe it's the worst ARPG ever too...

You should really consider quitting the PoE forums as well.
Standard Forever
The reason I'm here is because I (and many others with me) hope that PoE will change.

The game has great potential but GGG has to take a step back now and stop adding more content on top of the game in it's current state.

The message is all over the forums.

Wrong.
For once, it has a better end game than D2.
