although certain design decisions make it unlikely I'll ever buy the game I'm very interested to see what will it ens up like once all expansions and patches have rolled out.

About a $200 game.

Heh, quite possible, that.

What was it, 50... 60$ on launch? Another 40 for expansion, possibly same price for one more, three expansions might be too much... or not, wouldn't exactly put it past them. Anybody got any idea how many they planned for?
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

The entire idea of their loot system is based on getting upgrades now, and not later. They DRASTICALLY advanced the gear curve, to the point that if you're the kind of player who "goes all out", you will quickly find you're SoL for upgrades for extremely long periods of time.

Even though you find gear faster than in PoE, you cannot trade in D3. So gearing up is still faster in PoE than in D3. You can buy your BiS gear such as BoR, Lightning coil, etc. etc. within the first week of a new league. And after the 4 months leagues end people have completely decked out characters and multiple of them.

tl;dr gearing up in PoE is too easy.

With an unlimited amount of funds sure. But I really don't trade, so I find upgrades. Or turn them into one.

So, you are refusing to participate in the economy of a game that is based on an economy? That explains a lot about how you are so in love with the game for so long time XD.

We've been playing different games, you've not played the intended game.

Bro, I played this game like crazy from day 1 open beta was released. I have found 5 exalted orbs, one andvarius (2ex) and one maligaro gloves (2ex). Yes I was happy when they dropped but for 1+year to have like 10 ex worth of drops ?

Hey great I play this game since closed beta (april 2012) and I have never found an andvarius or maligaro, or anything really worth something.

I almost only played self found, traded only here and there.

The main reason though I am not rich is, I don't play standard.

I had about 800 exalted before I quit - all from flipping so that I can gear myself. This means that I ripped people off and made profit! Example - I bought a rare shield for 9 exalt and sold it for 45 exalt or I bought a wand for 4.5 exalt and sold it for 16 eternal - things like that. This sometimes made me feel sad for the people I bought the items from and made me feel guilty, not happy.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt and believing you that you actually have 800ex, well that's part of trading. If you don't like flipping don't do it or else you are a scumbag.

I once ripped someone off and he realized it - do you know how disappointed he was and how much he was begging me to return the item? This is what the drop level in the game made me do and I am being totally serious about it!!! I do not know a single person who has money and gear who has not acquired them by flipping. The others did it with RMT. No one who had good gear had it dropped which in a looting game is pretty ridiculous.

You probably mean that all THEIR gear has been bought?
Because it did drop at some point at least to some degree. Or else those items would not exist.

In RoS you can actually find stuff and be happy, not rip people off and be happy that you have - you don't spend all day stalking on noobs...

Don't let me start on the map system - this was created only for currency sink and to keep the economy restricted but at the end of the day it fucks up long time players.

Well good for you. I personally hate that finding items is so damn easy. I expect the game to drop good stuff (ignoring that most of the gear is usually like 1-10% dps upgrade or toughness etc) and that makes it boring.
There is also no real reason to get good gear. You know there are no "high maps", "atziri fight" or similar things.

I think the PoE map system is great. When you hit 70 maps it feels really nice. A lot of work put into reaching it. When I do rifts in D3 it feels really cheap. Not only is the mob density shit, but it also is not as exciting.
Rolling maps, knowing what bosses they have, knowing soon you reach 72 maps and can get tyrannical mod on items. Those things excite me!

I also stopped playing PoE because of performance issues like tinko says - in RoS I do not have any problems and the graphics are like 10 times better. Also Blizzard made the game more "gothic" and it actually is very reminiscent of diablo2 and poe in terms of atmosphere - no bright colors any more!

Well that is understandable. I have a better PC now, and PoE runs good. I still get performance issues in D3 though.
The graphics aren't much better, but you know that is to be expected of a blizzard game.
But it looks like shit. I hate the item sprites they look boring, PoE they actually look detailed and interesting.
Also it has a more realistic artstyle which I prefer. D3 looks like Warcraft and I hate everything that looks like warcraft.

In conclusion I would like to say that the numerous nerfs on drop rates, builds, passive skills, items, the endless grind to find upgrades that never drop put me off this game.

I am very sad this is happening because I love GGG and the game as a whole, I still check news and feedback section on forum every day in hopes GGG would change the game and make it better.

Yeah fine, now can you please go? It seems that you find your game now gtfo.

would change the game and make it better.

There are things they can change, and there are things they can learm from D3 (like monster AI and ability), but I hate the casual friendliness of D3, I don't want that in PoE or else we have a second D3.

I've just bought RoS and started a HC crusader.

Quit PoE because of the "hardcore" RNG in drops and crafting, for which I don't have the time.

I'm really enjoying playing self found in ROS and not having to depend on others by trading.
